I like the setlist but i feel things are getting too predictable when you go see them live . KNY played within the first 3 songs for the last 8 years , the speeches during Holday and Letterbomb etc.

They need to change things up soon to stop people getting bored ; not everyone will like, but someone like me would haha

Me personally though would get rid of all the touring members and just have them as a 3 like the good old days's :) .

Three's company ; 6 is a crowd ;)

So basically you only want 1039 to Warning played?

At least they mixed it up with 21 Guns and Welcome to Paradise:

Welcome To Paradise finally. Let's hope it stays a while.

Still needs Brain Stew, Jaded and Geek Stink Breath though, I'm going to keep on saying it until they play it :P

It's come and gone, we heard it in Italy in January, then in Australia and New Zealand in May and now in Belfast (June). I hope some of these songs make it to Hyde Park...

I wonder if some songs take on new meaning for him or what the reason is that some turn up again out of nowhere and others he never plays. I miss Brain Stew. I was realizing the other day that the set is very heavy on Dookie, AI and RevRad while Insomniac, 21CB and the entire trilogy get almost entirely shafted (one song out of five albums?)

I have mixed feelings on the trilogy but it would be cool if they played at least one trilogy-song. There are so many AI-songs in the set, maybe they could replace St. Jimmy with Let Yourself Go.

I would take Jaded in place of St. Jimmy because it's basically the same performance but that's about it. I'd rather lose Letterbomb or even American Idiot. They could do St. Jimmy without Are We the Waiting that would make room for something else.

I think the setlist depends on the people you play for. If you play a festival show, there will quite likely be a lot of "casual" fans and people who want to see the band because they are one of the biggest rock acts out there. These people don't care for "Church on Sunday" or "Who Wrote Holden Caulfield", they want to hear the greatest hits. That's why I understand GDs choices for the setlist. I think their own shows are a different thing though. They could vary some more songs there.

after seeing them live I can't listen to one without the other (referring to AWTW & St Jimmy) almost at all anymore. like if are we the waiting comes on in shuffle i have to make sure st jimmy is queued. after that experience seeing st jimmy without AWTW would just be odd IMO.

Sry if this is already mentioned, (did noooot read all the pages) but I would like to see them asking the crowd what to play, like they did years ago. Would be fun change for example just to ask one fan what he/she wants to hear and whatever it is just go for it. 😊 Forgetting lyrics or whatever, doesn't matter. 💚

Hello! So I'm going to see them live at hyde park on saturday, and i was wondering what sort of set list i can expect from them? my favourite albums of theirs are kerplunk, dookie, insomniac, nimrod, and american idiot. im sure there will be a lot of newer stuff, but i guess im just a little worried about not hearing much of the green day i love (i.e the mid 90s to mid 2000s). will they b focussing almost wholly on new stuff, or will they serve their roots well?

if you're curious, some songs id love them to play are:
android
one of my lies
who wrote haulden caufield
welcome to paradise
basket case
longview
fod
brainstew/jaded
stuart and the ave
westbound sign
hitchin a ride
platypus
redundant
jesus of suburbia
holiday

there will ofc be a lot of rev. radio stuff, but i am also wondering, how likely are songs from the trilogy, 1039, warning, and shenannigans to come up?

thanks so much, all replies are greatly appreciated, i just need some advice for what to expect since im scared they will swing too far one way or the other ^^

Then you might be pretty disappointed then. They rarely change their setlist.

This is pretty much what they play

Don't worry, a Green Day concert is like a religious experience, even if they don't change the setlist. You will have an awesome time.

Hey welcome! Since we have this thread about the setlists I've gone ahead and merged the one you made with it and the discussion can carry on here :). The link @Scattered Wreck posted above will give you a very accurate idea of what they've been playing/what to expect and you'll definitely get a few from your list! Whatever they play hope you have a great time (and you will :D).

Just as long as no one requests Eye of the Tiger! 😁

Haha, I was thinking it has to be a gd song, that way we could hear some really nice songs they usually don't play. And would be so much fun to see if they really remember all their songs^^

this is 100% truth. but like THIS SET HAS NO INSOMNIAC SONGS! WHY THE INSOMNIAC HATE BEJEEZUS??? like if we just saw 1 or 2 insomniac songs and 1 1,039 song every night i think we'd all be pretty damn satisfied as long as they switched it up regularly.

I wouldn't, Insomniac is my least favorite GD album, by far. I am thrilled that the band isn't playing any songs from it.

to each their own. ¡Dos! takes that cake for me. everything from See You Tonight to Amy is just nauseating to me. Insomniac has some of my favorite GD songs. Stuart & The Ave, Geek Stink Breath, No Pride, Brain Stew, Jaded, & Walking Contradiction, but i can most definitely see why it wouldn't be tasteful to yourself and others.

Yes, everyone is different, I love Dos. I think it is just pure fun. There is nothing earth shattering on it, it is just fun. But yes, I can fully understand why people don't like it. To me every song on Insomniac just sounds the same. While the lyrics are very good, I can't hear them because the vocals are so bad. I feel it is the album they put the least effort into.

True, true, true, but the vast majority of GD fans love the shit out of Insomniac. Definitely stupid there is such a lack of it on the tour. Seems the perfect tour to pull these tracks out on more often.

I would never get rid of the touring members. Never. Jeff has killer backing vocals, and also a third guitar is important. Jason Freese adds a lot of coulour to the GD sound, and every band these days have a dude who play synth /piano and of course sax, he is a badass musician. Jason White is so important... As a guitar player myself i can't imagine GD without a lead guitarist. That would have sounded horrible, considering a lot of their material is including several guitar arrangements. So yeh they will stay, and i love it.

i think insomniac is the king album when it comes to misheard GD lyrics so i definitely get that. but see the lyrics is one of the main reasons i don't like dos. i feel like the lyrics are at his weakest on this album. it's like dos had the least thought put into it and billie just popped out as many songs as he could that he thought were "party" songs just to fit that whole "before, during, and after the party" theme.

Billie only gets away with not playing any Insomniac because I understand he wants his favorite fan to be happy

Just a Trilogy random thought, as someone mentioned the before party- party - afterparty theme. Am I the only one who thinks this concept completely failed? In my opinion, these albums don't have that vibe at all. I sure as hell don't feel like in the middle of a party listening to Dos - Lazy Bones, Amy, Lady Cobra, you name it. So many of those songs aren't lighthearted in the slightest. It's more like a "dark side of the party" record if you will.
