Would've been great if they put in the effort for another city that had 2 back to back shows..

Yes, I am still bitter.

Yeah but BJ was the funniest first night Melbourne & he was cussing like a sailor:lol:

I so hope we get something like that at BST (or any of the summer Europe shows tbh).  Give me novacaine, whatsername, maybe throw in a B-side (Favorite Son Favorite Son Favorite Son) for good measure and I'll be overwhelmingly happy.  But at least the variation they brought into their set Down Under is promising for those hoping for a different set list for the summer tours from one that's remained mostly constant since January.  I know I'll love the shows whatever they play, but it would be excellent to hear some songs I've not heard before and it would make the shows even more special.

I totally forgot about the huge stack - guess one of the reasons they employ a massage therapist.

Sydney proved they can change up the setlist without any problems with production.

I'm really so excited to see the setlist of their European tour. Seems like they were experimenting a little lately, so I'm curious what they will come up with. Still hoping to hear Whatsername live one day. Novacaine would be awesome, too, though, it was so great during the 21CB tour. Oh and they have to keep Too Dumb To Die, I will melt at that intro. Can't wait for next Wednesday!

Who does not want to hear Wake me up when september ends live

Me :D Although I love BOBD so much more than WMEWSE or 21 Guns, all three of them are pretty similar so they probably just chose BOBD and dropped the other two.

The only gripe I have with the setlist is the lack of 21CB, really. I'm hopeful for the odd Trilogy song too when they're in the UK - DRB would be awesome, or Brutal Love. I'd also freak out if they played MDP!

I think The Forgotten would be a killer song live if the audience knew the lyrics ;) because it's such a wonderful song

They need to play Brutal Love at one of the festivals. When they performed it at Reading 2013, it was just amazing - one of my favourite GD performances ever.

So much.

i would love it instead of OW - I love how the band is all on stage - it's a fitting ending.  But we have had our tour & I was lucky to see brutal love twice at soundwave anyway.

They did, we discussed it a while back in this thread. It was the first actual change up of the tour, starting the second night in Sydney (11. May 2017). On that night they added: Give Me Novacaine, Welcome To Paradise, J.A.R, Too Dumb To Die and Going To Pasalacqua.

On the second night in Auckland (14. May 2017) they then added a snippet of Dominated Love Slave (in Shout) and Last Night On Earth in the encore. That was very exciting!

It was actually the first time Give Me Novacaine had been played in 5 years, and the first time Last Night On Earth had been played in 7 years!

And a few days ago finally a full video of Give Me Novacaine surfaced:

I had forgotten how much they love this song- they played it during much of the second leg of the 21CB tour and it seemed to be a surprise at first but then it stuck around the entire tour. It's such a good, underrated song (but you can also hear it through the crowd that it's a fan favorite, since AI is  known and loved by most fans at their shows).

This gives me a lot of hope that the second North American leg of this tour will resemble the 21CB sets- a few deeper cuts from RR (during 21CB they played Gloria, etc. the second time through after not playing at all) and then deeper cuts mixed in (during 21CB these were songs like Razorback, JAR, Scattered for the first time in 10+ years, etc.).

I may be proven wrong of course, but I think this tour will be a lot like 21CB with a significantly changed up setlist the second time around.

Aren't these shows at festivals? Could be doing less songs due to time limits

25 songs is pretty short in comparison to where we started

They're just coming back from a break though. Don't have it in front of me but weren't the first few Australia shows fairly short and standard too? And if Billie isn't feeling 100% physically (judging by that coughy SB at Pinkpop) that's another factor.

I think the shows are scattered, some are festivals and some are their own shows with Rancid as support act.

Funny enough: at Pinkpop they were announced to play 2,5 hours but played around 2 hours, I think (I don't remember the exact time). Maybe Billie is really a bit sick.

They're just doing what they do, I promise. During previous European tours following a North American leg they did the same thing. No inside info or anything, but I would be shocked if this isn't setting up for an epic/ fun 2nd half North American leg late summer and early fall. It'll be the same setlist structure, but they'll work in a fresh group of new/ old material into the mix. I'm nearly certain....this is just based on prior tours but I wouldn't worry about it.

Really, it was only 2 hours? In Munich they played their regular 2.5 hours, though I think the setlist was exactly the same as at Pinkpop. In Munich Billie was really in a chatty mood, he was babbling all the time, more than during the shows in January, so maybe that's the reason

But honestly, I think we really can't complain about the amount of songs they're playing even though it's "only" 25 songs instead of 30-somewhat right now. I mean, considering the fact that Jesus of Suburbia and Forever Now are like 3 songs each and considering the fact that most artists don't play longer than 2 hours, what we get from Green Day is still much more than average. Especially considering how much energy they bring on stage. I don't want to imagine how exhausted they must be after the shows, I mean, I'm always a (voice-less, soaked-in-sweat, back-hurting, but happy) mess, and I'm 15 years younger than they are

So even if the times of 3-hours-plus-sets like back in the 21CB tour are over, I think we can still be very, very happy with what we get. If that's the price I have to pay for a sober and healthy Billie, I'm absolutely willing to pay it. It's good that he takes more care of himself. The sets they used to play during 21CB were insane (great of course, but still insane).

Agreed! I'd rather have them around longer than having them play until their bodies are broken, lol
