What songs haven't they played live to date yet? (ignore my ignorance)

Like, songs they haven't played ever? Or usuals that they haven't played this tour?

21CB is the first song I ever saw them play live, and it was incredible. I'm sad it's been dropped! They should swap KYE for it.

I'm interested to know the history of Armatage Shanks - at my first gig in Belfast Billie Joe played half of it by himself, and apparently before that it hadn't been performed since 2000. And then they played it in full at Leeds :D but not sure if they played it in between those two shows.

As others have said, Armatage Shanks was written shortly before Dookie came out. Then the song was named on June 6th 1994. Billie said (I think this was a tweet, but not sure) "'Armatage Shanks' was first recorded at the BBC in 1994. We were doing a BBC session and I went to the bathroom and noticed the toilet brand". That was the first recording of it, but it didn't make a live debut until the 1994 MTV VMA's in September. Green Day was supposed to play Basket Case, but they wanted to piss off MTV, so they played a brand new song instead.

It was then a staple of the Insomniac tour (10/16/95 to 3/27/96) it was the opening song for every show. Although it was ignored on the Nimrod tour, it was brought back a few times for the Warped Tour in 2000. Then played a few times on the 21st Century Breakdown tour, and 9 times so far on the Rev Rad tour (Unfortunately not when I saw them though :( But I still have two more chances!!)

Awesome, thanks! I remember that tweet, and still get pathetically excited when I see a sink with Armitage Shanks on it

I really loved the setlist in Leeds. I got to hear Armatage Shanks, 2000 Light Years Away, Scattered and Christie Road for the first time along obviously with the RevRad songs! I would love to hear Viva la Gloria live and Church on Sunday! Angel Blue or Rusty James live would be good to hear I think :)

21CB was also the first song I ever heard them play live and it is an awesome opener. I would love them to put that back in the set :) I think out of the new songs I would love to hear Say Goodbye live and Somewhere Now!

I think the best performance of the night in Leeds was Forever Now in my opinion! It was amazing! Sounded fantastic and it just had so much energy especially to close the main set! Pyro was awesome in that too!

I really liked the setlist for this tour though just mix of hits and deep tracks :)

Hearing Troubled Times and Say Goodbye would be so great. Really hope these songs make it to the US/Canada leg of the tour.

No doubt, and of course those lucky guys in a place I can't remember got that Amy snippet too!

That's how YouTube always works haha. On the bright side maybe that means more people were enjoying the show rather than watching through their phones the entire time

You stated it perfectly. I ended up watching JOS through the phone held up in my face by the guy in front of me at that show. Which was crazy- here we are seeing Green Day at the most amazing, tiny live venue, and the guy has to watch the show through his phone. And I'd be willing to bet he has probably watched the clip once since, if that.

I wish they'd record each show and give access to the ticketholders- that way they could tell everyone to put their phones away and see the pro shot after the show if they wanted. But I supposed 50% of the crowd would still watch it through their phones anyway, which seems nuts to me but people do really seem to enjoy recording every second of the show for some reason.

That Amy snippet sounded so great. Billie's voice sounded very pleasant. But most likely that would be a one time thing for Aimee's birthday.

They do record their shows (at least they used to don't know 100% if they still do but I doubt they stopped that) I wish they would release them be like Metallica or Pearl Jam and sell them on a website

I'll be honest, I do understand why people record it. I've seen loads of full length GD concerts on Youtube that I wouldn't have if someone hadn't been recording, and I'm grateful for that. People also like to capture moments as much as they can - I'm one of those people admittedly (though I'd never record the entire show!) and some people are actually thinking of the people who aren't there and it's just instinct (for some) to want to share something so amazing. I agree that it does lessen the experience of the moment itself though.

By the way, it's a bit strange knowing Green Day have never performed Favourite Son or Too Much Too Soon, since they're performed in the musical and all!

On the topic of phones:

Well, I wouldn't want to restrict people from doing what they want to do. However, personally, I'd prefer if mostly only people who have a seat would film the performance. I mean, those are usually the videos that aren't so shaky that they'd make people feel violently sick after watching them and they don't immediately glare in the face of Billie and the rest of the band and lessen the experience for anyone else in the pit. To be honest, I thought people would buy a standing place mostly to experience the band close up, to have fun and to go wild. I have to admit, I took an ocasional photo or short video myself, but never a whole performance, because it would be just too shaky as a result of all the crowd movement and the sound usually isn't that great down there either.

But yeah, other than that, I think they (or their horrible record company) should do what other bands do too, which is release more live recordings. It doesn't need to be a fancy concert film and/ or polished assembly of tour recordings, just a recording of one or more shows. Not much effort required here. If they, or their record company think fans wouldn't buy that, then they're delusional...

Do you believe me? The only photo I have from the concert is the empty arena.

I was so confused and excited that I didn't even think about my phone.

It doesn't mean I haven't recorded the performance. Of course I did. My heart did it. *goes away*

Yes I believe it - the first night of Soundwave I could even take a photo we were squashed like sardines - I had to take screen shots of the pro shots the next day:lol::ermm:

Say Goodbye

They did play part of Say Goodbye during the bridge of Holiday on Howard Stern's show. Not the whole song but still sounded cool.

Same. I usually don't even do that. Taking pictures/filming at shows just isn't my thing at all

It would kill me to miss bits of the show while I was looking at my phone and thinking about recording. Even if you just hold it up and don't look through it you're still going to spend time thinking about that instead of just losing yourself in the show. I'm glad there's recordings to watch so I suppose I have to be glad that some people feel differently (although I agree it would be better if only people in seats did it) but I don't even like it when I miss a second because someone's head was in the way , I want to completely immerse myself in the experience and not miss a moment. So when I see people filming and missing things while they're pressing buttons and stuff, fully aware that they could just leave other people to do it for them and look up the videos on youtube the next day, I can't understand the appeal.

I hope Billie goes off early over the phone's at my upcoming show in Duluth, GA.  It's my first Green Day show, I'll be up close and all I want to do is dance my butt off from the first song to the last with everybody around me.  As Billie says... "LET'S GO F****** CRAZAYYYYYY!!!!!".  Haha

Haha, it was only Webster during the club run this year, so kind of an important show- I was like, "seriously, this is the most ridiculous show ever and most people would kill to be experiencing this moment right now...and you're watching it through your phone and making us behind you do the same?".

Fortunately, I quickly got over it and just went on with enjoying the show. But seriously- I hope guys like that learn some self awareness in the future, because it wasn't either courteous to others or appreciative of the moment in the least. I mean, it was a legendary show, and one of the most legendary songs...and to watch it through the screen of a phone seems like blasphemy. Oh well.

And, maybe it's just my age showing, but I've seen 19 of their shows now and I have zero recordings of them on my phone. And I'm thrilled that I've thoroughly enjoyed that many shows and lived and fully experienced every moment. And I don't have a second of regret of not having any video whatsoever on my phone.

Haha yes! He was doing some great and amusing little rants about putting phones away and enjoying the moment at my show (and he even cheekily targeted someone who had their phone out with the water gun :D) and still people stood there filming. Like, just from the point of view of the band's enjoyment looking into the crowd and the atmosphere of the band and fans enjoying the show in the moment together, how can you cheer when he says it but still keep holding that phone up? How can you look him in the eye when he's staring into the crowd looking for connection and he's just said that, and you're still pointing your phone at him? I wouldn't dare . Doesn't actually affect my enjoyment of the show if people are filming around me but these things go through my head when I see them and I don't get it.
