03 - Revolution Radio

Second favourite son

Recommended Posts

This is actually one of the most pop punk songs Green Day have ever released, especially as a single.

Mission accomplished Billie?

but isn't surgery a medical operation and since the word "and" connects the words together , what is the relation between "dead guitars" and "surgery" .

'And' doesn't necessarily mean the two are intrinsically linked.  Sure, it can be like 'strawberries and cream', where the 2 are linked to each other, but you can also say 'I have a cat and an Xbox', despite the two being unrelated.

"Dead guitars" reminded me of the iHeart incident but I think I'm just conflating a couple of ideas in my brain

East jesus nowhere starts with some radio snippets, right? It also starts with this line:

Quote

Raise your hands now to testify

Revolution Radio starts with this line:

Quote

Stay with your hands up in the sky, like you want to testify

Am I overanalyzing or do you think there's an intended link?

this is like the perfect second single. Catchy for sure, but it doesn't really hold a candle to Bang Bang, lets be honest here.

I'm liking this album, guys.

So it's a perfect second single despite the fact that it's worse than the previous single? If Bang Bang ends up being one of the BEST songs on the album then that doesn't really inspire much confidence in the quality of the overall record.

For all intents and purposes, Bang Bang was a fairly middle of the road Green Day track, nothing particularly "classic" about it.

At this point  I'm starting to really feel like Green Day is on the decline in terms of their creative output, if these two tracks are anything to go by.

Fluctuating between mediocre and okay but never actually being consistently good to great.

Could it be a demo? I can barely make out the vocals.

The one I got sounds pretty good.

Am I the only one hearing hints of Nimrod and Warning on the vocals? Especially during the verses.

Yes, you are overanalyzing. It's literally just Billie recycling shit.

Again.

It's like they picked lines from 21stCB and AI out of a bag and filled in the gaps

It's not as great as Bang Bang was upon first listen, but it's still great. It's got me hyped up even more for the rest of the album now.

Finally found links to play it from (not sharing them).

I can see this being played on the radio more often than Bang Bang.
Do I think it's better than Bang Bang? Not entirely sure as of now, but I don't think it will be (for me). I just love the agressive tone of the first single.
However, that is not to say that I dislike Revolution Radio, I don't. If anything, I'm more excited to see wht the rest of the album has to offer.

I really like it! Like a lot of people on here I wasn't sure about it at first, but it's definitely growing on me and that hook is now so stuck in my head I'm gonna be singing it for days! Kind of has an American Idiot vibe in terms of sound and style, but the writing feels a little like ¡Uno! with more classic Green Day mixed in. I'm hoping more of the "make a record like Dookie again" people, the so-called "fans," get on board with this album and really enjoy it!

Agree.

That said, I'm in love with this song. I believe will chart really well.
