I like it more than Bang Bang, but I like orange Gatorade more than Bang Bang, so this reveals nothing.

I agree with the overproduced assessment made earlier in the thread. It all feel boring even though I really want to be into it.

I wrote earlier about this song and how much I love listening to it loud.   That's the only way to listen to this album.   I wasn't drunk before but I am now.  I love this song and can't wait to see them live.  FYI, If you're afraid of mosquitoes and the Zika - don't wear a blue T-Shirt.  Mosquitoes love the color blue.   You're welcome.

Now that we got a new single, I assume that a new episode of Static Noise is just around the corner..?

I feel you. I honestly expected, going off of the title, for it to possibly be garage rock influenced or something grittier than usual.

But no. It ended up being a fairly standard Green Day song.

The title Revolution Radio made me thing of a track with pummeling drums, loud buzzy, promiment bass and Billie with distorted vocals.

I guess it's on me lol

This song is what's been missing from my life. I don't know how I've survived without it. Been listening to it on repeat for going on two hours now. Still fucking awesome!

This song is growing on me. I may not feel as strongly about it, as I did with "Bang Bang," but these songs aren't in competition (and I don't see the point in pretending that they are).

I will say that I feel like the lyrics "the truth", in the line "legalize the truth," should have a little more intensity to them; it comes across as a little too restrained and quiet, and I normally don't care for criticizing songs in this manner (I suppose I could make a similar case for most of the song, but that line, in particular, stood out to me). That said, Green Day didn't accidentally record and mix it that way - it was an intentional decision, so it's hard to suggest that it should've been handled differently.

Overall, though, I like what's being communicated in this song. I have a feeling that, in the context of the record, both "Bang Bang" and "Revolution Radio" will be even more compelling. October 7th needs to hurry up and arrive.

RevRad jumped out at me straight away as "yeah I like this". I like Bang Bang too, but it took me a solid 10-15 listens to start liking it. So by that qualifier, I would say that I prefer RevRad

Very catchy, it's stuck in my head already and I just listened to it for the first time. I really like it, but I'm not a fan of way they make Billie's voice sound.

Facebook exclusivity again, just like Bang Bang, seeing as how it's not on YouTube at the moment

Another extremely awesome lyric video! Muse did the same thing last year (releasing excellent lyric videos for a lot of songs on their album) and I couldn't help but hope Green Day would do it too, great that they are. I love the subversive superhero thing, and the shameless 21st CB moment at the end!

Having heard it twice now, it's definitely super catchy but I definitely don't like it as much as Bang Bang

One problem that both of the released songs share is that the vocal mix is way too low compared to the rest of the song, which unfortunately seems like it will likely carry onto the rest of the album

its growing on me like a fungus. i fuggin' LOVE IT.

the copy i found earlier today, the vocals sounded buried in the mix...but the audio on the lyric video sounds great.

im gonna limit myself at these 2 songs though. i wanna keep the rest of the record 'unspoiled'.  i can totally get by for the next few weeks on these 2 tracks.

i have a great feeling about this record. holy shit.

now to just get enough pennies scrounged together to get the vinyl+fan club and then more pennies for when my local tour date is announced. fuck being poor.

Yeah that's true, hearing the vocals really clearly was something I liked about the trilogy which I'll miss. But they have other albums where the vocals are a bit low and in the end I don't mind, at first it's bit annoying but once you know the lyrics it's not as bad.

I just cannot get this to download on iTunes...

I had the same problem, but in the iTunes app I found the download in the purchased items list and I had to click on the album to download the song on my iPhone. I guess I also didn't put my settings on automatic download.

Is that the only way? I'd like to have it on my computer first and not my phone (for now).

After listening more I do like it as much as Bang Bang, thought it'd probably grow on me. The vocals sound a lot clearer in the lyric video than the download I had which makes a big difference. It's super catchy, more so than Bang Bang I think. Had it stuck in my head since I woke up!

I love the lyric video too, liking the 21CB vibes :D

I'm sure this has been said loads of times but this is going to be amazing live.

I listened to the song preview yesterday and couldn't get it out of my head already. Now I downloaded it and I love it. This song is SO Green Day!!

It's more Green Day-ish than Bang Bang, at least in the last years.
I find it super catchy and it has the real Green Day "spirit", with that sens of comunity / family with that "WE ARE revolution radio", this would be amazing to shouted with Billie Joe live!

I've just listened to the song for the first few times.  I really like it.  Only time will tell whether I prefer it to Bang Bang, it's far too soon to make an objective comparison.  But there are some things I do know:

  • This is the sort of song that will grow on me.  I will like it more tomorrow than I do today
  • The trilogy should've sounded more like this (especially the vocal filters)
  • I'm now very excited for the album
  • This song is exactly what I needed right now, on a personal level.  Musically it's right on point, but I can draw personal meaning from the lyrics too

This, a thousand times this. This song is growing on me so fast, an excellent track.

This is WAY better than Bang Bang! That song has many things that feel unnecessary to me and are kinda forced all together, but this one feels smooth from start to finish.
I'm not fan of their "overwhelming production", mainly the vocals. He's vocals on the latest records feel like they used tons of autotune (wheter it's true or not). It worked for American Idiot and 21stCBD for their purpose, but it doesn't work for the trilogy and won't work for this one. I judge the songs by themselves because I know Green Day will kick ass live. That's just how Green Day rolls, they always sound better live.
