Second favourite son

I like it. Probably not as much as Bang Bang but it's still pretty good.

I just can't stand the whole call and response thing "we call lies THE TRUTH". It's easily the worst part of the song

Call and responses can be pretty cool if done right.  And they didn't do it particularly well here.

In Bang Bang it was effective and made the song what it was...not so much here. It's not bothering me TOO much but I hope it's not a running theme on the album.

I'm digging it! Gotta say I kind of prefer Bang Bang, but Revolution Radio is definitely a great song. It's very melodic and catchy. I also agree that you can hear nearly all sorts of Green Day eras / albums somewhere in the song.

or at least if it is, they use it similarly to Bang Bang instead of just copy pasting it into the song randomly.

This track doesn't really give the response much room to breathe.  It's too immediately after the call.  It feels weird and rushed

Cool surprise to come home to. Found a download pretty easily. I like it, it's not overly ambitious or anything but a good album track. I like that this song follows bang bang on the album, so listening to it straight after bang bang gives you a small feel of the album.

Intro is just mind-blowing, verses have nice melody and chorus reminds me Trilogy. Overall it's an amazing song!

So it's a perfect second single despite the fact that it's worse than the previous single? If Bang Bang ends up being one of the BEST songs on the album then that doesn't really inspire much confidence in the quality of the overall record.

For all intents and purposes, Bang Bang was a fairly middle of the road Green Day track, nothing particularly "classic" about it.

At this point  I'm starting to really feel like Green Day is on the decline in terms of their creative output, if these two tracks are anything to go by.

Fluctuating between mediocre and okay but never actually being consistently good to great.

Yes, you are overanalyzing. It's literally just Billie recycling shit.

Again.

Do you have any friends?

Now we get this poppy song and Ordinary World, both of which sound like Billie didn't learn from the Trilogy.

What was he supposed to learn? I mean, Green Day has been writing "pop" songs since Dookie came out in '94...so I don't really get your point there. If you look at what they have done with/for this album, I would argue that he DID learn something from the Trilogy because they did almost everything completely differently. 12 songs instead of 37. They self-produced in instead of having somebody else. It was kept pretty much completely on the DL whereas the Trilogy had updates like every other day it seemed.

The only time you comment on something is to speak negatively about it. And then you get into pointless arguments with other members about it, cluttering up the thread.

You do realize he's kind of an asshole, right?

I agree, it feels like Billie wrote too many lyrics for the melody and had to work around that rather than something he would have written naturally.

Don't like the filter? you must hate AI then as the filter is used on that as well

I like the filter on AI, cause Billie has got deeper voice back then and his voice is more gentle nowadays. Obviously, Billie wants his voice to sound sweetly and childishly using many effects. The best example is 'Lights Out'. :(

The genuine voice we could hear on 'Foreverly' with Norah Jones, for instance 'Barbara Allen', Mechanical Man or the cast version of 21 Guns. it sounds soft and natural :)

Just listened to it for the first time.

I like it, but not as much as I did after hearing Bang Bang for the first time. The drums in the intro reminded me of Murder City which is kinda cool  I'm gonna give it a few more listens before I give it a mark out of 10.

I'm surprised they've released another single so soon :o

I'll bet you'll feel different when it's a call back at the show.

Totally. I feel like Billie wrote with the live version in mind.

It's been almsot a month, so I don't know if it's that soon.

However, I am surprised it'll be released before the music video for "Bang Bang".

Someone posted this on our GDA Facebook page about the song, and I think I 100% agree: "I love this, sounds kinda like if the Beatles made a punk song"

 Love this comparison. Green Day has a lot of Beatles in their songs, but I can hear it a lot in this one.

I't's not that soon though considering the whole thing is out in less than a month to be honest. Surprised it had an early release date!

I can already hear the crowd in concerts screaming "THE TRUTH!"

Can't fucking wait for a live perfomance of RR and Bang Bang.
