While browsing Apple Music and its curated playlists, "Bang Bang" is all over.

That's really, really cool. Considering the 7+ million views on FB+YouTube, iHeart promotion, iTunes Charts and these datas I think a #1 on Billboard Rock is not that far. The only not so good numbers are on Spotify, but I don't know that platform really well, I may be wrong.

I saw the iTunes Store in Ireland had an add at the top of their page too for Revolution Radio. This didn't happen with Uno Dos or Tre or 21st CB.

Yep, here in the US as well. It towards the tail end of the rotation on the front of the store, but it's more prominent in the Alternative and Rock store fronts.

That's a loaded question. Some people say Descendents are pop punk and some say they're punk rock. Some say Blink 182 is pop punk and then freak out when you say they are punk at all. It's a wild time you don't wanna get into.

It's really not though. I feel like a lot of people try to play dumb with what that term means. It means music steeped in punk that has heavy elements of pop sensibilities ingrained within it. It tends to be more structured and accessible to the general public. Less hardcore. Don't know why people here always make such a big deal about it, or even the band itself. It borders on cringe-worthy at times how much people seem to care, yet claim they don't actually care.

Is anyone hearing it on the radio?  I'm in the NY area and I've checked the play lists for all the local stations and not one is playing it.  At least not one that I could find.

I've only heard it on a couple Sirius XM stations (AltNation, Octane, and Faction). Haven't heard it on local radio, mainly because the only AltRock station just switched formats to Classic Rock (ugh). And the Active Rock station is just far enough from me that it sounds like garbage.

Nothing in my area of Canada yet, but maybe I'm tuning into the wrong stations. All I know is it's getting more than enough play with my Apple Music lol

Anyone interested in UK radio play can look here: http://comparemyradio.com/tracks/Green_Day/Bang_Bang

Been steady, nothing big but 1 play per day on Radio 1 is interesting considering they dropped Green Day from playlists after the trilogy. Kerrang tend to shuffle their 'A-List' tracks every few weeks so I wouldn't be surprised if their plays skyrocket when it's on rotation.

Has anyone, anywhere actually talked about the song, the band or the album yet? Y'know like talk shows, the news, etc.

Don't think so. It's been a pretty slow rollout so far. I anticipate things will pick up soon.

This was a pretty early release for Green Day first single standards (excluding Trilogy). Most singles came out about a month before the album. This one was just about two months.

I have to admit that I'm not a fan of this lyric video. I think because is a little creepy and the way the band moves it makes me think of a creepy-dead-puppet. haha

And I don't like the fact that Billie Joe has a SG Gibson in that video while he should play with one of his guitars. But I admit I'm picky as fuck.

Not sure if this has been posted yet....

https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/music/2016/aug/15/pop-punk-green-day-blink-182-descendents?client=safari

Interesting article in The Guardian (UK paper). Very positive about the new single, and the band generally.

Ignore the comments....Guardian readers are notoriously pretentious, middle class snobs....and I'm including myself in that ;)

Holy shit guys, if you haven't listened to this in headphones yet do yourself a favor and do. that. right. now.  What Chris Dugan does to mic Tre's drums.....   My only nitpick about this mix is Billie's vocals get a bit overpowered by the guitars in spots; overall it's the goddamn bomb.

Agreed. I was on a trip this weekend so I got some serious headphone/ plane time with this one. Overall the sound and mix job are really solid- pretty stunning, actually when compared side by side with previous albums. I'm no audiophile/ mix engineer, so can someone help me by explaining how much of this (if any) can be attributed to new technology? Has recording technology improved this significantly over the years? I would assume they used absolute top of the line equipment and recording methods during their recent major releases, but this seems like it's on a whole new level.

Also, I agree that the vocals tend to get overpowered in a few spots, but given the power of the drums and guitars I'd imagine something would need to be sacrificed. The drum mix- and quality of Tre's drumming- was shocking to me. I've always thought the world of him, but in some recent albums it seemed he had either been holding back a bit or had deliberately been more restrained. Not on this one.

I get a little excited when the second to last "I wanna be a celebrity martyr" starts playing because my brain is excited there's at least one more after this one.

Recording technology hasn't really changed since the release of the trilogy (If that's what you're referring to)
