02 - Bang Bang

Finally back home after what was an eventful day of adulting dealing with my car accident, insurance, etc.

Bang Bang is fucking brilliant. I love it. It's everything I could have hoped for. Reminds me a bit of Hammerhead by The Offspring.

Not sure if it's been mentioned or not, but does anyone else here the St. Jimmy verse in Bang Bang? It's the line of "I got my Photobomb, I got my Vietnam" it sounds just like "Light of the silhouette, he's insubordinate"

Well I love it, but I'm not convinced it will take off the way AI and BOBD did though. 

Its so damn catchy, the drums and base are awesome as well. And dat bridge....

if I had to compare it, it reminds me of East jesus nowhere and St Jimmy with Knights of Cydonia by Muse thrown in at the bridge. I really hope they continue to explore that different sound on the rest if the record. 

The lyrics were not what I was expecting. I was expecting some kind of commentary on gun control since Billie has been outspoken about that in the past. But I love them! I think this is the darkest song that Green Day have ever done. Listening to the lyrics properly gave me the creeps. I didn't think any of it was that light hearted. "Give me death or give me head". I interpreted that to mean the killer gets sexual pleasure from killing people. Just woah, that's dark as fuck. But full marks for going there, i like anything (TV,  books etc) that explores serious issues in that kind of way. It gets you thinking. 

So psyched for the rest of the record!

I can't stop listening to this song. I honestly thought it would be a song I had to listen to sparingly so I didn't get burned out on hearing before the album drops but the honest to god truth is the only people getting sick of this will be the ones that have no taste in music and are forced to hear it on repeat wherever I go.

This is honestly one of the very best songs I think they have ever created and it just seems to keep getting better with every listen. I can't fucking wait to learn this baby on guitar.

If this album does not explode worldwide I have officially lost all faith in humanity.

Im so happy basically everyone on here is thrilled with it. I dont remember myself being this excited for the trilogy or 21st century breakdown to come out. I love all you guys.

i'm obsessed with the "i am a semi-automatic lonely boy" line ahhhhh. so fucking good for some reason. 

i'm really not a trilogy hater at all (for the most part) but THIS is green day. this is exactly what i wanted.

It's also crazy to hear iHeartRadio promos for the song on commercial radio stations. It's so fucking refreshing to hear Green Day get the promotion on the radio again.

That's my favorite line too. Something about the way he sings it. It just sounds so good. And I like the actual words too. The lyrics to this song are reallyy good.

Still nothing here, not even in press  With Know Your Enemy they played it on the day of the release. I don't get it...

The best way to appreciate Bang Bang is by playing a song like Sex, Drugs & Violence or Wild One first, then listening to it. You realise just how powerful and amazing it really is.

Not a trilogy hater, but I listened to the whole thing last night and then listened to bang bang 20 times.  There is such contrast between the two. I think the decision to release a concise album (their shortest since at least warning I reckon) will greatly strengthen the impact of the album

I fully agree with that. And as soon as I learned what the line "Give me death or give me head" meant I thought about that mass shooter who targeted women because they didn't want to have sex with him. Could be another interpretation I guess.
