DookieLukie Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 Song is incredible. Best thing they've made since AI. Album art is meh. I liked the graffiti style better. Tracklist seems okay...too bad we already heard Ordinary World (I didn't like it much). 4 Quote

21guns&novacaine Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 HOLY SHIT I'M GOING TO LISTEN TO IT. I didn't expect them to launch an actual music video for it straight away. Quote

A_girl_called_kill13 Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 21st century breakdown + insomniac + a little of American Idiot's rage. I'm dying. Hearing Billie's voice on new material is so exciting, and, can we take a moment to appreciate Tré assassinating that drum?! I mean... wow! Can't wait for october! 3 Quote
Marki. Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 Just read the Rolling Stone interview with Billie Joe, loved it... Seems like self-producing was the right way to go for them 3 Quote

21guns&novacaine Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 Hold up, on the pre-order page, it keeps mentioning digital stuff for the album. Is there going to be a phycisal copy? Or am I being dumb about it? It's like eight in the morning, and I just woke up and am trying to work this out. Quote
The Grohl Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 Guys, I can't stop beaming. I haven't even started work yet! Can it be October already? Quote
XxXxXxXxX Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 Sorry im late to the party GREEN DAY IS BACK!!! FUCK YEAH! 2 Quote
Hermione Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 The song it reminds me most of is East Jesus Nowhere, with the theme and also the instrumental bit. And that's one of my top 3 Green Day songs so it's a good song to be reminiscent of! 4 Quote

CD and vinyl include free digital copy too. 1 Quote
Christian's Inferno! Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 Why aren't they putting the video on YouTube?? Quote
GenXIdiot Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 Even my disinterested 17 year old son loved it! He's going to learn to play and sing it! 4 Quote

CrimsonArk Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 (edited) I find the song to be okay. The lyrics are kind of cringe-worthy at some points and the song itself isn't really anything particularly new or different from the band. Also, the fact that the main riff is torn directly from St. Jimmy kind of continues the narrative of them pinching from their own songs. I enjoyed the added dynamics of the track and the guitar tone, but yeah, nothing about it is really all that special. Edited August 11, 2016 by CrimsonArk 1 Quote
Popular Post Chanderson Posted August 11, 2016 Popular Post Posted August 11, 2016 Man, the hate for Green Day is always so irritating. Just reading the comments of news outlets reporting on the new single, this was one of the comments: "The only revolution they are leading is that they are still playing crappy bubblegum pop punk, still!!!!!!..... crap!" That is such an ignorant statement, showing they didn't even listen to at least 1 second of Bang Bang. 10 Quote

DookieLukie Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 Can't say I like the filters on the vocals. Fits the song maybe, but hopefully not used in the whole album. 1 Quote
21guns&novacaine Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 Kayyyy... I've seen it now and there's a lot going on now... Like so mannyyy references. The heart grenade art from American Idiot being on Tre's drum kit, the bomber jets with the red background, the graphic style both American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown shared, plus the random color choices and random touches to the video which made it come off as very Dookie-era. The song itself, I'm relieved that Billie's vocals have changed since the trilogy (at least with this track) and the song seems to touch on all eras. Like the gritty guitar sound and vocals sound like a mixture of Dookie and American Idiot, whil the guitar kind of sounds like King For a Day plus 21st Century Breakdown. Overall, as a 'back to the roots' song, I think they did a damn good job! 1 Quote
