weren't you the guy hoping a venue would burn to the ground because you didn't get tickets to a show??? :ermm:

I did get tickets, doesn't mean I agree with the way I had to get them.

Im bummed that now we have to wait even longer to hear some of the new record now.

Was going to put in for a half day at work the day of my concert. Now I guess I'll play it by ear until the weekend. I imagine this extra week of rest will be enough, but certain illnesses can take longer to totally recover from (i.e. if it's a sinus infection, that can take a long time to recover from, which isn't great if Billie has caught it because that obviously makes it hard to sing). But even if they're at the end of whatever is plaguing them, understandably playing in two nights wouldn't be a sure thing. Hoping the other cancelled dates are just ensuring they're all completely healthy, rather than a guess of how long they'll be ill.

I'm hoping one of the guys/their management will give us some indication sooner rather than later if their recovery will take longer than just this week. The anticipation is going to kill me until then.

I feel terrible for the band and fans that were going to these shows. I'm now cautiously optimistic about them still having the Columbus shows as about 50% of the Green Day shows I've been scheduled for have been canceled.

Things happen like this all the time just that the timing is incredibly unfortunate.

Hope everyone feels better soon.

no refund for the room i booked since i was supposed to be there tomorrow so that's great 🙃 i'm honestly not even surprised, since now officially half of the green day shows i've had tickets to have been postponed. hope they feel better soon but i'm so bummed.

Wow, Green Day have had some bad luck lately.  Hopefully this is just a minor setback and the rest of this album cycle will go smoothly.

I literally keep thinking, "Darn, wish we could call up Mike and be like, 'You all ok? Will you be good in a couple days? Should we send soup?'" Lol. He unintentionally became Green Day's designated health spokesperson so now I trust him to deliver us the deets. Over the years I've somehow developed the mentality that Mike is taking care of EVERYTHING.

I do hope those who had tickets to fly or or travel to these postponed shows and cancelled show get refunds and or tickets honored for the make up shows and don't lose too much by hotel and stuff fees that does suck

It truly sucks, but I am glad they are taking care of themselves.

On the bright side, they aren't sick when the album comes out and have to cancel promo appearances.

TBH they're probably struggling with common flu/bugs now they're not drug addicts. If they were still doing speed they'd just get on with it.

This really sucks for everyone. Hope the band gets well soon, that the rescheduling means most can still see them and that people can get back as much of the money they've spent as possible.

Illnesses like flu can be very debilitating whatever substances someone is or isn't using. There's seriously no reason for their drug status to be brought into this discussion.

Hello! No need for conspiracy theories folks, its just a really crappy flu bug making its way through the band, crew and friends. I had a bit of it myself...

People should have more faith in Billie, at least from what he said in past interviews about his awareness of situation not only he was but people close to him, and not immediately think about his addiction when word 'ill' is mentioned along with his name.

I hope they will make the best of this situation and that everyone who supposed to attend these shows will see them one way or another! :)

Do you even know he went to rehab because of that and he's no longer an addict?

Just going to draw people's attention to this post:

I'm going to start suspending people if you don't get the hint. No one gives a fuck what you think is a real possibility or not. Having people come to this thread to speculate about drug use is not only unhelpful and entirely baseless, it's not what this topic is for. Two mods have told you guys to stop.

Can the addict/drug discussion end now please

No, it wasn't. Let me rephrase:

Hopefully Billie isn't having difficulties with doing drugs or drinking too much again.

I'm sure if you're honest with yourself, it crossed your mind.

No, it never crossed my mind. What did cross my mind however was how insensitive, uncaring, self-centered and quick to jump to conclusions some Green Day fans can be. These guys have the flu or something similar. We don't know the extent of it. We don't know if they are under doctor's orders. I have had the flu a could of times and ended up flat on my back for weeks...so it could be like that. Also, Jason has just recovered from cancer so his recovery time could conceivably be longer. Who knows tho.

I agree with you about the way some people start speculation without having any details so far. But to be honest, when I read the headline "Green Day postpones first 3 shows and cancels Toronto show" I immediately felt sick, it was like I was pushed back to 2012, which was not only a really really bad year for my favourite band, but also for me personally. The thought, or rather the fear that it has something to do with Billie, is the first thing that comes to one's mind after all that's happened in the last couple of years, that's only human. People are just sharing their worries here that it COULD mean something, and I totally understand. And that is also something Billie and the whole band will have to deal with in the future, even if they only have a cold. That's part of standing in the spotlight. And I'm sure they will manage.

However, after reading the official press release, I'm quite relieved because like some people here have said before, they wouldn't drag the other band or crew members into this if it was only about Billie. I happen to work in the PR-business, too, and if this really was the case, they would have written something like "for health reasons, the shows must be postponed...". So all we can do for now is wish them all the best and hope for a quick recovery. I would love to send them some get-well-soon-cards. And I'm so sorry for all of you whose shows have been cancelled/postponed. If one of the shows I'm heading to was cancelled, I would just break down and cry, so I'm feeling with you, guys.

Such an unfortunate thing to happen and I hope they can kick whatever bug it is in good time. Really hope that everyone losing out this time round manages to make use of the old tickets for rescheduled shows - or in the case of Toronto, get some kind of refund and promise of a return!

It was the masks, they are toxic.

Seriously, I hope everyone that is sick feels better soon.  Hubby had the flu once and he was down for days.  As he described it, for you hope you don't die then you wish for death.
