Do you even know he went to rehab because of that and he's no longer an addict?

Going to rehab doesn't cure addiction. Addiction can,be controlled but not cured. That's why people relapse.

To everyone who thinks Billie's still an addict/started doing drugs again.

Let's suppose you once got drunk, felt really bad and threw up. Would you like it if everytime you throw up because you have a stomach bug people started saying OMG YOU GOT DRUNK AGAINNNN

Yes, can we get back to be mortified that these shows are cancelled/postponed rather than the random speculation of what YOU might think the illness might really be.  Because YOU don't know any more than what was said in the announcement.

Thanks.

Not stupid. Just an addict, which he has been all his life.

I can add onto this, it's a personality.  I am sure he learned a lot from his experience with the trilogy but we also have to understand he is an adult. It wouldn't surprise me if he still drinks. It wouldn't surprise me if he doesn't. I'm sure he knows his limits. And even if he doesn't know his limits, i'm sure he is smart enough to stay away from the state of mind he was in over their last tour.

I firmly believe and trust their statement that it's in fact a contagious flu going around. If it was a cover they wouldn't say something so specific like "band members and crew are sick" ...they would be more vague than that.

Now guys you're just being assholes. Whether this is a flu or something else is their business and you don't have the right to insinuate anything. And this time around it seems so clear that it's an (hopefully not too serious) infective illness (Jakob's post, Jason's cancelled show) that it really makes me think that you're drawing conclusions just for the sake of it and believe me: that's not what respect is. Do us all a favour, look into yourself and consider shutting up please.

I agree that an addict is always an addict. But this is about people's first thought being that he's relapsed when there's no reason to think so. Wild idea: the band statement is true and some of the guys actually do have flu and don't want to start their new tour and new era feeling less than 100%.

God you guys are making something out of nothing, literally making it all about drugs is stupid. Grow up

Actually, not being able to face this as a possibility is stupid, so you should grow up. It's obviously something that most people considered, because it's exactly what happened last time.

It's likely it's not the case anyway, but should be discussed if people are thinking about it.

I'm sure they're A) Super bummed to be delayed getting back on the road and B) Hating how this appears given their cancellations last time. I'm really sad for the folks whose shows got postponed, but other than that I feel like we should cut them some slack. This isn't how they wanted to start their brand new era after years of shit, obviously.

Ill say it again - last time did they say other band members & crew were sick.

There's facing possibilities and then there's literally starting things for shits and giggles. You made a comment thinking people would find it funny and then you tried to change it into you being actually concerned. Give it a rest and move along. Your joke wasn't funny and speculating bullshit with zero substance is just dumb.

Move on

I can't believe this is happening, some of you people disgust me. At least wait until Billie goes into rehab again so you can officially start to talk all the shit you want - because that's what you're literally dying to do, isn't it?

This is fucking ridiculous. Last post about it from me.

It's not that no one shares similar concerns, it's just that there's no reason to worry right now. There's no point to it, it's a waste of energy (for me, anyway). It their main touring guitarist is sick, that's a legitimate issue. In every interview and photoshoot we've seen so far the guys have looked and sounded happy, healthy, and refreshed. That could not be more different from the start of the Trilogy. They seem 100% fine. They're just sick. They'll get better, hopefully sooner rather than later.

Of course we're going to worry. That's something that will never go away at this point—hiccups will make us worry. But arguing about it when there's nothing to base unnecessary concern over just seems silly.

I admit that I tried to introduce a possibility in a way that would make it a bit lighter, but I didn't do it for shits and giggles.

I just think it's healthy to examine a possibility that I'm sure was on a lot of people's minds because it's exactly what happened last time, that's all.

But, I agree.. Move on.

Have you every had a true flu.  You are bed ridden.

Flu can be very serious.  People actually can die from it.  It's not like a simple cold.

If it's truly the flu, that can take 2-3 weeks to fully recover. I had the flu several years ago and it was a good week and a half until I was back to 100%. But I get what you're saying and maybe they were just being cautious?

Lol what? I had the flu earlier this year and I had to call out of work, a job where I'm sitting at a desk, for a few days because of it. I can't even imagine trying to perform while having it.

I don't think its about the flu lasting until the 24th but more about the fact that they need to practice and prepare for the show.

But still, if they just got infected they could still be sick for a while.

The official statement from Green Day described it as an "illness" and an "infection" that several members of the crew and band have been "battling" and my issue is dismissing it as being the flu simply because Jason had the flu recently and Jakob said he had the flu on social media is hardly solid info. I mean thousands of fans are seriously upset tonight to hear their show is postponed or cancelled so guessing the exact nature of the infection isn't very smart. People will still argue over why Billie was hospitalised in Italy in September four years ago. Officially it was a gastrointestinal problem. Then Billie said it was a "dancing parasite" on MTV and now I'm reading here that he said it was alcohol /drugs related? My point is Green Day haven't said it is the flu so it isn't the flu. They could change their minds ten times yet as to what it is I guess but we don't need to confuse the issue do we?

Yes.  Now can we get back to talking about what we do know rather than speculating about someone's health/debating that speculation.  It is unfounded, unhelpful and disrespectful.

I'm going to start suspending people if you don't get the hint. No one gives a fuck what you think is a real possibility or not. Having people come to this thread to speculate about drug use is not only unhelpful and entirely baseless, it's not what this topic is for. Two mods have told you guys to stop.

Let's just hope these are the only cancelled shows, and the rest of the tour goes off without a hitch 🙂

The fact of the matter is, all the boys have looked great and healthy in their most recent videos!

The only positive I see out of this is that maybe the Chicago show will be rescheduled for a time when I will be back home from school so that I could see them. I am sure the tickets will still be expensive as hell, but maybe I will get lucky.
