dougsmiley
You know they have been practicing together with crew etc, gearing up for the shows. I'm sure a sickness would spread quickly and maybe the other members got symptoms today.

spark in the night
Trying to not be so upset. I wouldn't be able to enjoy a show knowing they're not healthy and forcing themselves to perform. Would rather see them when they're feeling good. It's just such a sad situation. I'm sure they feel just as bad, if not worse than us. You know they love touring and Billie Joe specifically was itching to get back on the road. All I can hope for is a speedy recovery and maybe undo some of the postponed shows. But I won't keep my hopes up.
sara_gd
I know there's no way of knowing, but how likely do you think it is that they will cancel the rest of their shows? I have my flight tomorrow morning and I'm considering not getting it at all, I'm so upset and angry at the same time.
Hero_Of_The_Hour
It would actually be really pathetic if any band cancelled or postponed a bunch of shows due to the flu I mean maybe if it were swine flu But seriously...to cancel a gig on the 24th due to flu would be ridiculous. Not that I want there to be something more serious wrong but I would hope they have a better reason than flu.

lizziebix
Flu can be very serious. People actually can die from it. It's not like a simple cold.

The illness appears to be a short term thing, and there's no suggestion of any further postponements. I don't want to speak too soon though. I had the flu several years ago and it was a good week and a half until I was back to 100%. But I get what you're saying and maybe they were just being cautious? sara_gd
I remember reading that Mike was very sick once but he still played, he went to a bucket to vomit once in a while or something like that. I guess this is more serious.... or they're older and can't handle it as well.

I had the flu earlier this year and I had to call out of work, a job where I'm sitting at a desk, for a few days because of it. I can't even imagine trying to perform while having it. It looks like they will at least try to work it out. I am hopeful. My guess is they will try for the week between NY and LA. Or after the first leg of the club tour has finished. That is, depending on whether or not they already have shows filled up for those dates that we don't know about
stories and songs
Especially if people were getting sick on different days, it makes sense they'd have to cancel for this week. If Jason's started last week but Billie just got hit this week or something, that'll take a while to totally recover from. I just got tickets for the 29th last night, hoping they'll be rested and better by then, but I'm trying not to be overly optimistic. Never a dull moment in Green Day land. Hope they get well soon. I don't think its about the flu lasting until the 24th but more about the fact that they need to practice and prepare for the show. But still, if they just got infected they could still be sick for a while.
jabharty
Gutted for everyone who was going, hopefully the reschedules are at the same venues for you all. Hard to replicate the intimate atmosphere that a club gives. Hope the band/crew recover well, last time I had stomach flu I was exhausted for 2 weeks. _•Whatsername•_
I don't think it's something too serious, I mean even a simple sore throat is enough to cancel a show because it wouldn't allow Billie to sing but a sore throat is not a serious illness though it can be very annoying sometimes.
