Green Day POSTPONES 3 Tour Days, cancels Toronto show

My mother is in remission right now after battling breast cancer that was (seemingly) at a lesser stage than Britt's was. She was and still is on a ton of medication, and it took her probably a year after treatment to fully build up her immunity to what it was pre-cancer. It would be beyond careless to push Jason to perform if sick, or to needlessly expose him to more sick people. I understand that time is money and everything, but Green Day is doing just fine financially and can afford to reschedule a few shows if it means taking care of their own. One reason why I love this band is that they care enough about each other to respect each others' needs. To imply that it must be something "worse" than the flu is insane. The flu is one of the worst illnesses an adult can get.

Do you think Tim Cooke would have cancelled his iPhone 7 launch with the flu?

Workaholics and Professionals usually learn to work through being sick because missing work can literally cost millions, and this is a prime example of that. I'm sure they can recover with some really good promotional shows next week, but if not, it's really bad for an album launch financially.. especially the biggest band in the world.. that's all I'm saying.

Implying that the release of the iPhone 7 is anything like performing a 2 1/2 - 3 hour live concert is pretty dumb honestly. Tim Cooke doesnt have to run around on stage every night and perform, they're completely different things.

One time I had the flu and it was so bad that I couldn't get out of bed for days. I couldn't even "power through" to get up for a few uni classes, let alone 2.5 hours of jumping around. I had an awful fever, general weakness and extreme tiredness for that time...it was totally debilitating, i was struggling not to pass out any time i stood up. I don't know how you expect "trained professionals" to cope with it better. What are they supposed to have strengthened immune systems or something? I'd also rather they took the time to recover so they are healthy for the rest of the tour. Would anyone really want them to push through feeling dreadful?  It sucks for fans that have been cancelled on, but these things happen and taking the time to recover is definitely the sensible and best option.

I never said it wasn't okay for fans to have "different theories," even though yours sucks. What I said is it disgusts me that people like you act like such an entitled prick.

Jason and Mike's wife are both recovering from cancer treatment, presumably with weakened immune systems. So let's push them to "work while sick" just to make a buck and to avoid upsetting fans? Come on dude. Their family and health is most important. They have the flu, they canceled shows, and they're making up all of them except the Toronto show, which was tied to an event they can't be rescheduled for them. They're presumably taking a little extra time to rehearse new material before the Columbus show on Monday.

There is literally no reason to think there is anything more to this story and you're coming off as a real dick with your incessant posts about why you're right. Just drop it.

I'm sorry if I'm coming across as offending anyone. I know it can come across that way when I type, but I was just suggesting that it seemed like something more serious than the flu (IE Jason's Cancer, Possible Billie Troubles) and I was just saying I was sincerely hoping it wasn't. It's very easy to say something that can be taken out of context on this board and automatically having people jump down your throat for saying something they don't want to hear.

I would never suggest that someone should work though something as serious as complications with cancer, or anything else like that. I'm just saying artists have a lot of people depending on them have been trained to work through things like cold and flu, and considering the timing of the new album, I'm just HOPING it's nothing more serious. My only "Theory" was that we may not have been told the 100% truth in that it was just a flu bug, and that I HOPE it isn't more serious.

Please, just drop it so I can as well.

As far as we know they're still performing on the 26th and will continue from there (six days, woo!), so I think it's safe to assume they're telling the truth and it's nothing more serious until they give us something to worry about. :) It's all good.

'Pretty Dumb' eh? Maybe he isn't 'running around' but what they do is exactly the same thing. Tim has to be as sharp and charming as a tack to sell these iPhones, you clearly have no idea. If anything, it could be even more difficult to public speak for 2 hours straight in an theatre than to perform songs you've performed many times before, and he has to know his product inside and out, as well as answer questions.

Anyway, this is getting a little off topic.

Tim Cook rarely speaks for more than half an hour during an Apple keynote. He usually just opens the thing, deals with the corporate and numbers updates and closes the whole show.

I hate to continue this discussion, but just want to point out that if they hadn't cancelled these three shows and pushed on despite several members having the flu, their recovery time would be longer and they'd be playing more shows at less than 100% (and we know how hard those guys work to put on amazing shows.) Their flu might have gotten worse because of the lack of rest and they might have ended up having to cancel more shows with even shorter notice than these ones.

Flu is common, but it doesn't actually strike an individual that often. It's awful when it does though. I don't think some people are getting that it's not just a stomach bug or a cold.

The statement never said flu anyway.

The statement said an infection, but someone who appeared to be a member of the crew came on here and said they hd the flu.

Who the fuck is Tim Cook?  If you are trying to make Green Day look bad for cancelling or postponing gigs, according to a supposed crew member, due to flu then maybe mention somebody like James Hetfield who broke his arm but played the next day or more impressively, following that pyro incident, had second and third degree burns but returned to the stage 17 days later though not fully recovered. I mean at least Hetfield plays music right if you are going to go there let's at least give a decent example

Tim Cooke is the CEO of Apple.  I don't think anyone got the correlation.

It's not something else, yet you like to keep kind of hinting or suggesting that something just "doesn't feel right" to you. You need to stop doing that. It's not cool to throw baseless theories like that around. Members of their crew and members of their family read these forums. It's embarrassing to have someone who continues to subtly try and suggest it could be something more.

Oh well in that case I can safely say that if Tim Cooke got the flu he'd still manage to dodge taxes and get away with it any day of the week

As much as I respect you, and think you do an awesome job with the site, this is the 4th time I've been told to stop and each time I've apologized and said I would.. Then I get told I'm a dumb, and self-entitled prick, even after the fact.

I am sorry I questioned the fact that it didn't make a lot of sense to me they would cancel these important shows to kick off a new album because of an infection. It honestly didn't feel right, and seemed to familiar with the last tour. I didn't mean to offend anyone, and I will not say another word about it.
