Based on some twitter responses from Fillmore Detroit, I think it will be rescheduled at the same venue.

There's nothing to be nervous about. They have the flu.

I'm nervous. but not for the same reason.

WHY THE HELL IS THE FLU COMING AROUND SO EARLY! I have other friends who are sick too. I think i'm gonna go in to get a flu shot, but even that takes 2-3 weeks to kick in. The last thing I would want to happen is to get what apparently seems to be a multiple week lasting flu over the same time that Green Day reschedules. I don't even normally get flu shots but I will this year just to prevent possibly missing shows.

Got an email from Ticketmaster for the Toronto show - they are offering refunds or you can keep your ticket and Lenny Kravitz is the replacement headliner.  Lenny is a cool guy, but I'm getting the refund because I prefer to sit at home that day sad and bitter about missing the show.  I still can't believe this happened.

Have a little respect for the mods that asked us not to speculate about the addiction issues, will ya?

Um I didn't speculate anything except that they have the flu and may be under doctor's orders.

It's not the same but let me tell you, Kravits is fucking amazing.

Oh yeah I know dude, I saw him open for Aerosmith and worker one of his shows. But I'm too casual a fan to justify what it would have cost to travel stay in Toronto to see him (all prices inflated because of the World Cup).

I totally understand. If I were you guys, I would email management for help in reimbursements for travel. They have all rights reserved and all but you never know.

Bands like Green Day rely on the fringe fans like people who will travel by plane to shows. They round out the difference between a great to a completely sold out tour.

I paid $440 for 2 days at our air bnb right next to the stage, only to get $40 back when I canceled. Awesome.

I sent a message to my host apologizing for having to cancel and why, AND THE GUY FUCKING GAVE ME A FULL REFUND! I was so happy and in shock. Yet more proof that we Canadians are the nicest people on the planet :D That means that Justin and I officially only lost out on the bnb service charge from the date being canceled, which is so lucky because I know how much others have spent to fly/travel/stay in Toronto.

I'd be so nervous right now if I had tickets for the Columbus show.  Hopefully they'll all get better in enough time to not have to postpone any more dates.

You can stop this shit right now, sir. :)

It would just be nice to get a direct statement from the band members rather than 'the whole band and crew got sick'. I've never heard of so many people getting the same flu bug that would have a band cancel multiple shows in advance.. the math just isn't adding up to me :(

This is the most important time for the band to be promoting the album so that it's a success, and you'd think it would take something VERY serious for something like this to be going on.

I remember when Linkin Park had to cancel a few shows because of Chesters vocal chords.. he wrote a letter directly to his fans explaining exactly what happened, and this was just a couple of random show in the middle of the tour which weren't all that important.

I tend to worry and overthink things, but this is really bogus. This is suppose to be a launch of a major comeback for Green Day and starting off like this right before an album is dropping seems serious.

i know it's kinda selfish but i can't help but wish one of them would post on instagram or something like "oh hey sorry we had to do this but we'll be back soon!". they've all been very quiet and i doubt all three of them are still sick.

i knew i should have just gotten tickets to the columbus show

Tre isn't sick, he was seen bowling yesterday and he is doing an interview tonight.

On another note, I was just listening to AltNation and the DJ said that there is nothing confirmed, but that the cancelled dates will most likely be rescheduled for Dec.

They have released a direct statement saying many of the band and crew are suffering with an illness, and clearly saying they are so sad they've had to postpone or cancel shows. How more direct can you get? do you want every member of the band and crew that is ill to personally come out and a say the exact same thing??  The band would not have postponed these shows lightly. They've explained why they've had to cancel, move on.

The ridiculous sense of entitlement Green Day's fanbase feels will never cease to amaze me.

It takes far more than the 3 of them to put on a show though.  And the problem is that, in the last few days before leaving for tour, all these people would have been in contact wih each other.  The band, the touring musicians, sound guys, general roadies, guitar techs, manager etc are all needed for each show to run smoothly, and very hard to replace at such short notice.

Mountains and molehills people

I would normally agree with you, but..

a) Cancelling 3 shows at the start of a tour and album launch is a very big deal (business wise)

b) The story doesn't add up in that 'everyone is sick' therefore cancelling shows weeks ahead of time.. I can understand within a day or 2 but cancelling multiple shows ahead of time.. hmmm.

c) Nobody directly from the band is making a statement or apologizing about it.. usually indicating that someone told them not to. And if it really is a flu bug, what's the big deal?

Anyway, if Tre is really doing that interview tonight, I'm sure a lot of these issues will be addressed and 'over-reactive' people like me can shut up :)

I love how you think it's not okay for fans to have different theories, but it is okay to insult them.

If you had the slightest idea how much something like this would cost the band 'money wise' at the launch of the biggest band in the world's new album, you'd be a little more insightful as to why it's happening. I have NO IDEA what is, but I do think it's more than the band and crew having the flu.
