IM FREAKING OUT IN LITERAL TEARS I JUST SAW AN ARTICLE THAT SAID AEROSMITH ARE GUNS N ROSES' SPECIAL GUEST ON THURSDAY

Except for the fact that Aerosmith doesn't have a new album coming. Steven Tyler does, but not them.

Country songs - he can do a duet with BJ.

according to Joe Perry's social page Joe is recovering from a surgery and won't be back on stage until October so with Tyler in other states and Perry recovering I'm gonna have to say Aerosmith is probably not happening

Good! Even before Axl shows up late, GD can perform Revolution Radio in it's entirety.

I'll be at this show on Thursday... I cannot imagine how awesome it would be to see my two favorite bands back to back...

They are my two favorites as well. I have been to four GNR shows this tour including both Vegas gigs but I wish I could see this one. I'm pretty sure the LA gig on the 18th is sold out and has been for a while now.

It might make some sense, slightly, if it was announced earlier.  According to that article, GNR's new album is not doing well, so having a big name band play with them could boost ticket sales.  As for GD, they get to try out the new album in a stadium setting.  From what we have heard, this album may be better suited to a stadium than a small secret show.  GD and GNR are good friends, so I'm sure they would be willing to ehlp each other out.

There is no new GNR album. The LA show has been sold out for a while so they don't need to boost ticket sales. I have no idea how the 2nd show is selling but if they wanted to boost sales ,surely they'd have announced Green Day more than a few days before the show.

Since when does a bigger band open for a smaller band?

I am a huge fan of both bands and Green Day may have been bigger than the GNR that Axl toured with for the last 15 years but bigger than the Axl/Slash/Duff lineup? No way. I think both bands are helping each other out in this case. The Dirnt family seems to be tight with Duff's family. GNR give Green Day the chance to play their new material for 50,000 people  (or whatever the number ends up being ) and maybe Green Day boosts ticket sales for the second show which isn't yet sold out.

Why not? I'm sure they'd like to see how new songs go over in front of non-diehard fans. They could fart into a microphone for hours during a fan club show and most would love it so why not see how a song that isn't Basket Case goes over live in front of non hardcore fans?

Yeah I know its good publicity for them - I would have preferred any leaked audio/video of anything new from the album to come from an actual green day concert.  Seems like an anti climax if it happens this way imo.

Well I'm going for overall Guns has one of the highest grossing tours of all time (the one with Metallica) they've sold over 110 million albums off of 3 albums (all of their albums are all platinum) where as GD is at 75 mil with 11 albums (where GD has 5 albums that's not platinum and 3 that aren't even gold) while I'm not a Guns fan (Axl is such a fucking asshole it really turns me off the group altho I do like some songs sorry I know your username lets me know you're a Guns/Axl fan)

I don't know why but I don't feel comfortable with Green Day being an opening band for someone else! Uhmm, I mean they deserve more than that... !

Opening at two shows/a special event really isn't the same as going on tour as an opening act. It's an opportunity to promote the new album in a big venue, nothing bad about it. They'll still do a world tour as headliners.

Maybe Mike posted that picture of a gun with a rose for a reason.

People are taking this way too seriously, whats wrong with them playing a gig with some friends, having a bit of fun, no pressure of headlining, hell I wouldn't wanna be following GD on stage lol Maybe its my old age I just don't see the big deal :D <3

How did I not see that before. I just saw it as a random post of an old 21st Century Breakdown image.

Agree with Hermione. This isn't Green Day submitting for a support slot on another band's tour; this is, at most, two shows because there's friendship between band members. If this happens and any audio/video surfaces, fans are going to eat it up. That includes people who think it's somehow beneath the band to have to play before a headliner.

Does it feel weird? Sure, because we're not used to it. A number of people here weren't around the last time Green Day were a true support act. But the notion that it could be "wrong" in some way just reeks of entitlement.

Relax, and enjoy whatever might come out of these rumors!
