The amount of insider knowledge and theory's you have shown in the past has been a bit unsettling, this stuff might be confidential and not to be released yet. While it is fun to speculate (which is what this forum has a reputation for) some stuff is best left to be a surprise.

How? Nobody's forced to read the forum and if it's that important for it to remain a secret then the band will ask for it to be taken down, as happened in the run up to RevRad

This question may sound very dumb, but is there any way we can get in touch with the GD promo manager or someone like that? Because i just get more and more frustraded seeing all of these epic shows in South America and not recording it. Jesus. It is so irritating that i actually sent a message to Green Day's official Instagram account. Don't think i'll get an answer but.

Yeah, on second thoughts, that post was a bit self-aggressive. Though I still stand by some sentiments, I agree with what you said. The band has asked for stuff to be taken down before. (I believe a Stay The Night from a 21CB soundcheck springs to mind)

So Green Day's official Youtube channel just uploaded 2000 lightyeas away and She, aaand Ordinary world (audio only). My question here is WHY couldn't you upload one of these songs in a live performance instead??? Jesus. Would have been a lot better that then to just hear a song and see the album art. WHy just why.....

You don't need to post that into 2 different forum threads. Besides, this doesn't really have anything to do with RevRad or the RevRad tour so really it doesn't belong in this thread

Promoting the band? Would have been better with live videos instead of just songs with album art, would do a lot better on Youtube.

Back In The USA is doing really well. I see this climbing up into the top 5 or maybe even top 3 most popular / succesful songs or videos from the RevRad era!

 You make a good point but at the same time it's hard to explain why as a fan it feels good to see them have success. It's not about the money, it's more like rooting for your sports team. To me, sellouts, awards, record sales are not the ultimate important thing but they're like wins. And Green Day are having a great season this year. I think our team could take the cup! 😂 Silly I know, but that's the only way I can explain something that is essentially irrational. Plus I know success in their career makes them happy and that makes me happy too.

Right!  It feels good to see them succeed and hurts to see them fail or not do as good.  I'd still buy their music (like I do with so many actual washed up 80s/90s bands) but I would be very sad to hear that Green Day were playing to near-empty hole in the wall bars because nobody cared anymore.  I would be excited to see them in said hole in the walls, but I'd be a bit peeved that the rest of the world wasn't digging how great a band they were.

And if you're wondering what bands I considered washed up, I'll include the list.  Again, these are bands that I love so I'm not bashing them, I just acknowledge they haven't had a hit song or album for many years.

Everclear:  They were at one time my #1 band, but Green Day's consistency won out in the end.  A great band, but 11 years and five albums into a fairly successful career, the hits stopped coming and the record company stopped backing them up.  The original bass player and drummer left to be replaced with a bunch of random dudes and the band has never been the same since.  But the tail end of their work has not been all bad - they released one really awful album and a whole slew of bad compilation albums, only to come back with a brilliant 2012 album that nobody on the planet bought but me.  No radio play, no videos, no nothing.  But a darn good album.

Smash Mouth:  Now these guys have had a bit of success with soundtrack cuts, so people sort of still know the name.  But really their hayday passed in 1999.   Which is sad because.....well.....they had at least one great album (Get the Picture?!) that nobody cared about.

The point is:   We don't want Green Day getting to that point (no song or album charting for 10-14 years and no one caring).   Sure, they'll still be our favorite band because of the quality of music they put out.  But we want success, even if we know that Billie Joe has 55 Million dollars in the bank, Mike Dirnt has 50 Million and Tre Cool has a cool 45 Million in the bank.

Back on topic though:  Rev Rad could make one final push with two more brilliant singles.  Just saying.

Oh and This!

Really cool to read an article about Rev Rad before it was released!

Some iTunes Charts update:

Not quite the right thread, but it is about commercial performance...

Anyway, almost 3 weeks after its release, God‘s Favorite Band is still charting on alternative albums at #7 and Back In The USA is charting at #12 on alternative songs! Pretty good I think!

@pacejunkie punk and @Too Dumb to Die(s)

Just wanna say I totally agree, it makes me very happy as a fan to see the band achieve good success. Up to this day the band still makes such great music that it deserves to be heard.

And I agree that success would make the band happy ( they were pretty excited that RevRad was the #1 album and were also very happy about the Rock and Roll hall of fame) so yeah it also makes me happy to see them happy about being successful. It's really not about money anymore but really about the joy of seeing 10,000+ people coming to your show each night and reacting positively to music you've created.

Quite sad to see that they didn't sell out a single show in South America according to the stats @Montclare posted, it looked like they were so massively popular over there.

I’m wondering if some of those stats are misleading. I saw from some pictures of their South American leg that the sections behind the tent were completely empty (for obvious reasons) and I’m not sure if they take those into account. Now, maybe all of those were actually available seats and nobody wanted them, I’m not sure

Any word on total worldwide album sales at this point? I know it was around 700,000 at the 5 month mark, so my guess is 1.25M to 1.5M sales worldwide 14 months in?

Tbh I think that's a huge overestimation. I'd say maybe 900k to 1m

See a lot of people talking about live albums and dvds.

They should finally make one where it's one uncut concert.  Not selected songs like Bullet in a Bible.  Not from 20 different shows like Awesome.   Take the best show with ALL the songs and make a great cd/dvd combo.

and of course maybe a bside or new song thrown in for good measure, lol.

Yeah, that's what we all want. Not sure their frankly incompetent management will ever realize that though...
