Amen! I'm relieved that I'm not the only one who wasn't too crazy about the Bohemian Rhapsody video. I mean, it is impressive, yes, but as Green Days promo team, they should promote Green Day, not Queen. And songs like BOBD are indeed so impressive live. Or the acoustic 21 Guns.

The Southside festival just released a festival video and there's not a trace of Green Day in there although they were the headliner. It's all about Blink (it even features a Blink song) and the other bands that played there. GD didn't give permission for any footage at all. I seriously don't understand their strict policy. If they even have a policy, or a concept - or something like a promo team at all:lol:. I mean, okay, if they are making a live DVD, they want to sell it and they don't want to give it all away for free on Youtube, I get that. But giving us nothing at all is just so wrong. With just some songs or short clips, as you said, they would get a lot of attention and I'm pretty damn sure it would push the ticket sales for the upcoming shows, too.

The video of the boy on stage that Billie shared yesterday was part of the pro-shot material from Pinkpop Festival, and it got many likes and comments. It's sad (and also a bit funny, okay) that Billie seems to be in charge of the Green Day promotion now. :fool:

The whole promo team is just horrible. And i really don't thinj they will make a live DVD considering how little footage we have got so far, and that we have been very dissapointed by the overall promotion so far so.... And if they are going to make a live DVD please DON'T make it like BIAB. The footage itself is not good at all. Please contact Eagle Rock. They know how to make good concert movies.

I had a friend who normally has no real interest in Green Day mention the video to me last week and tell me how cool she thought the video was and how amazing it must have been to be there.  She didn't quite understand that it was a thing that happens at every show, and thought it was just because the band were taking a while, but it was still very good promotion because she was now showing interest in the band.  Plus, as she'd viewed the video she was more likely then to view Green Day's other videos since she's was on their YouTube channel already and they'd be suggested videos.  So I can see where the promotion team are coming from with this move.

I like to think that Green Day's promotion team know more about marketing than I do and that I just don't fully understand the complexities of their strategy.  At least, I hope that's the case

You make a good point - any traffic is good - but I'd just rather it was about Green Day specifically. A crowd singing Bohemian Rhapsody could happen at any gig and GD aren't the focus of the video.

First, people think a DVD is likely because of how little footage we have. Copyright etc. And second, what?! BIAB is amazing. It's a bit messy at times but I love that about it.

Yeh of course BIAB is a great movie, but footage wise (filmng/angles/coulours,black and white, picture shifting after 2 seconds), is not very good. THIS is how a movie should be: PROPER FOOTAGE. not those horrible black and white filters and all that shit

Releasing the Bohemian Rhapsody video was definitely a good thing, even my mum started telling me a few days ago that she saw an article about "some video from a Green Day show...", which I didn't expect. I was just like "yes mum - I know" I hope they continue with this and release more stuff actually concerning GD and their music, though - I think the crowd singing BOBD would've been just as good.

Appears as though we've got some professional complainers on this board.

You all should be celebrating the success of the Bohemian Rhapsody video - it has esstentially gone viral and did a great job capturing the excitement of the crowd prior to Green Day taking the stage.

And as for a live DVD - my money's either on Wrigley Field or the Rose Bowl.

Live DVD? My money isn't on anything because i don't think we'll get anything pro shot footage whatever so, a concert movie i think won't happen until we get a new promo team.

There should really be a dvd from this tour! Would be cool for the Oakland show (since it's being advertised so much) or something like AAF, from different places. This tour has been one of the best hasn't it?

I'm getting kinda worried the reason they're advertising Oakland so hard is because it's not selling? Hope I'm wrong obviously.

I was thinking the same thing. What's the capacity of the Coliseum though isn't it huge? Don't they usually play the Arena?

We've criticised GDs promotional team a lot during this era but they've done a great thing with the Bohemian Rhapsody video. Just done a twitter search of 'Green Day Bohemian Rhapsody' and loads of people are still tweeting the YouTube video link, and the video now has over 90,000 shares on YouTube. It now has 5.3M views (up from 4.5M on Monday) so its averaging about 1M views per week. My biggest worry with the Bohemian Rhapsody video has been the lack of views that the recent music videos have had, but hopefully, the people who have recently discovered GD thanks to the BR video will now start discover GDs catalogue of hits by watching all their music videos. I await new GD fans joining this forum thanks to their discovery of GD through the BH video.

Google says 63.000 but that appears be seated, so possibly more? Idk how it's calculated. Either way it's a lot of tickets.

They played the arena in December. In theory it sounds natural to come back for a big-ass second leg show, but I have no idea if it's actually a realistic place for them to sell out? (they barely filled a ~9000 room here, that's my only ticket sales reference :P )

That's like Milton Keynes size. Maybe at their height with American Idiot they could do that but now? Arenas for sure but I don't know about stadiums.

There should be some extra demand because it's a hometown show though? But we'll soon find out, it'll be interesting to see.

Of course we know they'll give 100% regardless but it sure would look nice if they could fill the place... Not to mean the Rose Bowl, 90.000?

I really hate saying this but The fooK..

G.D P.R team should hire new people soon for the last half of USA because show at R.bowl is not selling out anytime soon or it too early to tell.

why can they have out live Ep video for RevRad tour from any cities..or WB is too cheap!

Never thought PR was such a big deal. I like Green Day all selling out stadium style.. and would be so happy of they did sell out the oakland show.

I always feel like many other bands do better somehow? Is it because of the PR?

Who the hell doesnt like Green Day? How in all god damn  hell did Foo Fighters pulled 50 000 and Green Day only 8000 (sweden)?

Its fucked up.

Yeah, that's a bit strange. The festival shows of the Foo Fighters in the UK also helped the commercial performance of their albums. The Hyde Park show didn't have such a big influence. At least that's my impression. Maybe it's the lack of promotion? I don't know...

At least they sold out Hyde Park. Maybe that's a good sign for Oakland.

Yeah that's my impression too. The half assed promo doesn't help but I think, sadly, they'll always be just a little too ~weird~. We love them for it but it gets in the way of the straight forward mainstream appeal that e.g. Foo Fighters have. For every casual fan or uninitiated with an open mind, there are hundreds who will flinch at the first sight of eyeliner, blue hair, or a snide political comment.

At least that's the way I see it nowadays, can't really speak for their popularity around 94/04.

I have a thing for liking weird bands, it's just what I'm attracted to. I need my music to come with a certain measure of wit and intelligence and those tend not to be mainstream bands, but rather those that have occasional mainstream success but fly mostly just under the radar. Green Day fits that to a tee. It really makes no sense that they ever sold millions of records in the first place. Punk just wasn't ever supposed to do that and they've been hanging on ever since defying the odds.

The Bohemian Rhapsody video has now surpassed 6M views. It has had 1.5M views since last Monday, and it seems that the number of views per day is actually going up rather than down.

Well music has changed OF COURSE, which has a lot to say.

Is it just me who think that the description of the video is truly horrible? seems like a 12 year old kid wrote that.. just a big sign of the unproffesionality at the GD promo team headquarters. if they have one

Agreed. I don't understand why they didn't paste the Hyde Park set list into the description box?

The only logical reasoning for this is that maybe they want people to watch the Still Breathing music video rather than the lyric video. It still sucks that they did this, though.
