Might just be the angle/sound but the Hyde Park one is way more powerful, so nice that it's taking off!

Also did they re-arrange the youtube channel somehow? The "home" page seems more organised then the last time I was looking. Could just be youtube I guess but maybe they are waking up.

I can't decide if it's good for Green Day or good for Queen but I'm happy regardless.

The Emirates one is just fan footage so not surprised Hyde Park is better quality.

I do kinda wish it was a Green Day related thing that was taking off but I guess it's still publicity!

I don't think a live album / dvd is really relevant in 2017 . It would just be a retake of their last one with the hit's and new revolution radio song's . Hardly anything new here to get excited about ! .  I Would however think doing a new complication album - rerecording oldies and rare song's not played from the early days  might regenerate interest in the band . Green Day are becoming too predictable and boring it's like watching the same program on repeat again and again  . Shock us with something totally unexpected'!

I've looked at the YouTube statistics for the video of the crowd singing Bohemian Rhapsody- it has driven over 1,000 subscriptions to GDs YouTube channel and been shared over 49,000 times. The Bohemian Rhapsody video also has more views than the Rev Rad music video.

Yeah Hyde Park definetely helped. Does anyone know wether RevRad might now have a chance of passing 100k sold copies in the UK soon?

Sales are actually pretty low considering they played in front of 65,000 people; yes, the album rose up to #12 on the rock but that means it sold 1k copies this week in the best scenario. It's sad to acknowledge it, but we are almost out of this era. To me they chose a wrong 3rd single, the label is not promoting the record at all, their presence on the radio is weak and faint; American Idiot has been their best selling record (on a week basis) in almost every state for 3-4 months: sales are stale. As I predicted some time ago, RR (the song) will probably do well on US rock (maybe a peak in the top 5 or even higher) but will fail at Alternative, no doubt about it; a top 30 peak seems reasonable.

As for UK sales, 95k is my estimate at the moment. If I'm right, considering the lack of promotion exc., it will be eligible for the Gold status in a couple of months.

Yeah, I mean that's definitely one way of looking at it. I'd be interested to know how their tickets sales are doing in comparison with album sales. I know the two things don't go hand in hand but my thought on this is that if they're still managing to sell out stadiums etc then are album sales the most accurate measure of success for RevRad? Or should we be focusing on the level of interest there is in seeing them live? Ultimately I guess it wouldn't matter what kind of crap they put out, I'd still see them!

So following that logic I would say we have something to look forward to at the end of this tour. 😉

Considering how bad the GD promo team has been during this tour i don't think it will happen imo ;(

It's important to remember that a lot of the RevRad listeners use Spotify and don't buy the vinyl/cd. I listen A LOT to Green day but i haven't got one CD.

I agree! I have a lot of GD CDs but I don't actually own anything that allows me to play them anymore! Are Spotify streams etc taken into account for album sales? I'm really not clued up when it comes to this stuff!

I am not sure

On Spotify, RevRad has these numbers.

*Still Breathing and Bang Bang are at Green Day number 10 biggest hits.

Say Goodbye - 5,7 million streams

Outlaws - 4,7 million streams

Bouncing of the wall - 4,2 million streams

Still Breathing - 25,2 million streams

Youngblood - 5,4 million streams.

Too dumb to die - 4,4 million streams.

Troubled Times - 4,9 million streams

Forever now - 4,5 million streams

In the US, Billboard counts 10 song sales or 1,500 song streams from an album as an album sold.

I confess the only CD I own is Bullet In A Bible and I've never played it -- I bought it solely for the DVD because I couldn't find it on iTunes.  Other than that I listen to all the albums on Spotify and YouTube.  I've bought a handful of individual RevRad songs on iTunes, but I'm ashamed to say as a superfan that I've not actually bought the albums.  You just don't need to anymore and my only CD player is my DVD player.  Assuming I'm typical, I'm not surprised album sales have plummeted post-internet.   This is why bands need to tour and charge high prices for tickets and merch to earn any money in music these days.

So "success" has to be charted differently, like with television including DVR views and streaming services.  The system needs to catch up with the times.  Attendance at live shows is definitely a measure of success.

I heard Revolution Radio on the radio just a couple of minutes ago. It does get played every know and then.

RevRad was a #1-album and had two quite succesfull singles so far. Hopefully, it will be certified gold in a couple of countries at some point. That's not that bad. Rock is not part of the mainstream and the general presence of rock music on the radio is generally rather weak. I'm quite happy with the commercial performance so far. We will also have two more legs of the tour which might help the album as well. So keep calm. It's a great record and Green Day are legends, that's for sure. Considering the decrease of record sales in general, RevRad is doing/did well :).

Might be a bit of topic, but it's kind of promotion for the band... What's going on with the American Idiot movie???

Supposedly in production with HBO but no idea what stage they're at or if they're still working on the script.

I agree. I don't really own any of GD's cd/single. Now I listen to them  song/album at Spotify..or Pandora.

Good to know that many of Green Day's sales aren't just hard copies. As for my self, for most other bands I don't own my own CD's. I took over quite a lot from my parent's collection (loads of 60s, 70s and 80s stuff), but I mostly listen to them through other means (usually online). I do however have all Green Day albums on CD (including live albums and compilations). I guess I just like the feeling of a physical copy (including the great artwork and lyrics booklet). That coupled with the joy of buying a new Green Day record each time it comes out...

But then I am a bit old fashioned when it comes to music...

Still, I'm all in favor with Green Day moving on with the times (something they have done waaaay too little when it comes to promotion). They still think that appearing on TV a few times and hanging up posters in cities is enough...

They don't have a promo team, as you say all they think (the promo team ;) ) is that appearing on a few TV shows is enough. No that is nowhere near enough in 2017. What do we need? We need Boulevard from Hyde Park on YOUTUBE. We need more intervews - competitions - news - pictures and that stuff on their Facebook page. We need more Instagram posts? WHy the fuck don't they never post more than ONE photo from a gig on their instagram? The whole thing just sucks man... Take a look at Metallicas social channels and Guns N roses. THAT IS GREAT !!! Metallica even have one pro shot video from each gig, loads of photos and stuff.... They also record one live album from each show.

Okay so here's a question - do they really need to up their promo? Do they not already have decent exposure? What would they stand to gain from increased promo that they don't already have?

I say this because I think we have to keep in mind the fact that they suffered personally as a result of becoming over-exposed, and maybe it works best for them not to be too heavy handed with interviews etc?

I agree though, more pro footage from shows would be nice

I agree. They're are legends.

I some time forgot that GD's achieve what they wanted to achieve in their music career

with Three number 1 album, winning some major awards..(grammys,AMA,MtV..etc)..some top ten single..in charts, selling out concert tour..etc..

the boys doesn't needed anymore hits because they already have it. :toocool:

Am I the only one who thinks that their Facebook page is very confusing? They always upload links to the band's instagram profile, that's it. They sometimes post pictures that are a couple of days old while they have already performed another show in the meantime.

Yeah, like everything else having to do with their promotion and marketing it's not very well maintained.

I'd be curious ro know who maintains it. The guys post to their own individual IG accounts and I assumed they have some team member do the Facebooking, Twitter, etc. but stuff goes up there late or not at all. Same goes for the official website and YouTube channel. Really not well run.

I liked it when they did their live videos at the launch of RevRad and the start of their tour, they were magical! Think I watched them a hundred times! 😍
