Still Breathing is still #1 on the Alternative chart (4 weeks on the top, just like Minority):

http://www.billboard.com/charts/alternative-songs

Actually, we have some hopes to see it #1 next week too:

http://hitsdailydouble.com/mediabase_chart_details&fmt=R3

If so, SB would reach 5 weeks on the top, reaching Basket Case!

Other charts:

  • Rock Airplay - #1 (7th week)
  • Canada Rock - #1 (2nd week)
  • Mainstream Rock - #2
  • Hot Rock - #13 (down 1 place)
  • Adult Alternative - #18 (down 1 place)

I think I've lost all hopes regarding the Hot Rock Charts. It's been around No. 12-13 for ages, I doubt it will get any higher

Also, I found this on Wikipedia. You can find the updated (07/2014) sales for every GD album. :)

Yeah I found that a couple weeks ago too

Anyone know any stats on the tour?  From the videos, the arenas look pretty full, but I haven't seen any numbers anywhere yet.

I was wondering the same, I would assume they sold out most, if not all of the places/arenas they played at. But, I'd be really interested to see if they'll sell out bigger places such as the Oakland Coliseum and the Rose Bowl.

I think all the 4 Italian concerts (Turin, Florence, Bologna and Milan) were sold out. :)

They were though! But I think the one where they're gonna play with Rancid in the summer are still available!

  • 2 weeks later...

For those interested in figures, next week RR will pass the 200k copies sold in the US (it is now at 199.6k), while it's at 85k in the UK. Sales are low: approx 1k in the UK and 1.8k in the US per week.

I'm afraid the low sales are a reflection of streaming's impact on the industry.  We've had a few instances over the last 12 months where the number 2 album has actually sold more copies than number 1, but has been held off the top spot by streaming on services like Spotify.  Fewer and fewer people are purchasing albums nowadays because they can just legally listen to them for free.

Those figures aren't bad all things considered.  It's probably a good indicator that RevRad has remained in the top 100 of the sales chart (in the UK at least, not sure on the rest of the world), all of the trilogy had dropped off completely by this point.

Hopefully it can push an extra 15k copies from publicity at Hyde Park, which is usually televised.  100k is the amount required for a gold certification in the UK.

What's your source for the UK album sales?

They don't care. More people are picking up on it day by day I find though. They know people don't actually buy music anymore unless they are collectors and there are only so many of them. Numbers really aren't too bad considering all that shit and given it's release time.

It's definitely a shame that physical albums seem to be slowly dying out. I mean, I went to a record store yesterday and at the checkout, the girl who served me looked at me as if I were an alien because (a) I actually bought a physical CD and (b) they were rock records and not mainstream pop/rap etc

Completely agree. During my trip I bought Insomniac, Nimrod, American Idiot, Drones and Origin Of Symmetry (Muse) and I really don't care how the shop assistant looked at me with his "surprised/laughing" eyes. This is the music I like, this is the way I'm going to listen to it for the rest of my life. If you don't want me to buy those, well, I won't give you my money, no problem.

Anyway, SB stays at #1 on the Alternative chart for 5 weeks (reaching Basket Case in terms of weeks on top!). Next week The Lumineers' Cleopatra will be #1, but I think SB has given its best on that chart. At least I'm satisfied.

Charts for the week of March 4:

- #1 Rock Airplay (8 weeks)

- #1 Alternative (5 weeks)

- #1 Canada Rock (3 weeks)

- #3 Mainstream Rock

- #13 Hot Rock

- #19 Adult Alternative

Total videos views update:

Still Breathing - 16.94 M

Bang Bang - 16.47 M

Preach!! :D

I used to be self-conscious about the music I listen to, but now I'm just oblivious to what comments other people ("friends" etc) make because I'm not changing who I am and the things I like to meet their ridiculous standards :)

I'm also envious you managed to pick up a copy of Nimrod in a record store! I've been able to get every Reprise GD album there apart from Nimrod and Shenanigans. I'm not expecting to get Shenanigans, 1039 or Kerplunk there, but considering I picked up Insomniac and Warning, I'm surprised Nimrod was nowhere to be seen! (I could order online, but I love the old-school feel of actually going into a record store, sifting through albums and buying them )

Still Breathing has officially started to drop on several charts. Although it's still #1 on both Rock Airplay and Canada Rock, the song is not gaining in performance (spins) anymore.

Charts for the week of 11 March:

  • #1 - Rock Airplay (9 weeks)
  • #1 - Canada Rock (4 weeks)
  • #2 - Mainstream Rock
  • #3 - Alternative
  • #15 - Hot Rock
  • #20 - Adult Alternative

Music/Lyric videos views update (views in millions):

  • 17.05 - Still Breathing
  • 16.52 - Bang Bang
  • 7.45 - Revolution Radio
  • 3.96 - Say Goodbye
  • 3.13 - Troubled Times
  • 2.94 - Youngblood
  • 2.45 - Ordinary World

The total number of views for RevRad era videos is 53.6 M, which is not that bad.

By the way, I think GD need to release the next single soon, because SB is dramatically losing its power. The end of March would be perfect, maybe even before that. The album needs promotion and Revolution Radio/Troubled Times/Say Goodbye in my opinion would do a very good job on the charts, especially the first. :)

After the release of the promo CD in the UK, I thought maybe SB might chart on the UK Rock Singles Chart again but it hasn't http://www.officialcharts.com/charts/rock-and-metal-singles-chart/

I think now is an appropriate time to release a new single. It will most likely be RevRad, I'd prefer to see Troubled Times or Say Goodbye. But as long as OW isn't a single (which it likely will be), I'll be satisfied. Troubled Times lyric video was good for the new album as it promoted it and allowed it to go back up in the charts after dropping. If it was released as a single, that might further impact the album's success

Yikes over 2,000 available tickets. Not looking good there.

I've watched YouTube footage of the Tulsa gig, and I don't see how they were 2,000 below capacity. The only logical explanation that I can come up with is that the seats behind and to the sides of the stage (which were obviously empty) were included in the figures above. I don't think there's any need to worry about the ticket sales for the Tulsa gig, as the likes of the UK and Germany gigs were sold out.
