That's a lot of pages of hoopla.   The album does well though right?  Like commercially doing well?  Everything I'm seeing on here is biased bogusness.

I think you misspelt "trolling" and/or "pointless responding to troll"

Trilogy was not a step up musically at all. It was so formulaic with those forced guitar solos on every freaking song. And the riffs on the trilogy were so uneventful. Most  were 3 power chord songs and that's it. They might have changed the order of them for the chorus but overall the trilogy musically is mediocre.

Green Day are the definition of 3 power chord songs.  I mean, if you look up Green Day in the dictionary, you'll see Illuminati.  3 is a number that the Illumina....  ahhh, I'll let you do reading and research.  I don't like you for some reason.  Dr. Robert Gallo.

The song, Revolution Radio, would be the best song on radio right now.  Unless you bring back

Just why? You never add anything to the conversation and all of your post are about GD being  the illuminati. It's incredibly annoying.

Jake, I'll stop with the Illuminati thing since you were one of the first to call me out on it.  However, I stand by the fact that the song Revolution Radio would be the best song on radio right now.  Name a song on the radio right now that would be better than Green Days' Revolution Radio.

I didn't think so.

Totally agree there, it really is! Holy fuck, the last couple pages of this thread nearly had me pissing myself laughing here for the past 5 minutes. I do think the guitar solos in the Trilogy are way better the RevRad one's, I don't know about Dirty Rotten Bastards being better then Forever Now. Some of the new lyrics are not major witty as Billie usually naturally is. Some are though, some I see the band just enjoying rock and playing whatever they feel in these songs. Tre's drumming is seriously good on this album, the riffs are also really fun but some of the lyrics do make you say, why would he write that? Punk rocker on labor day, eghh. Daddy's little psycho and mommy's little soldier isn't the best line but it has surely grown on me a lot! Dirty Rotten Bastards has great lines all the way through, I'm pretty even on the riffs between the two, and leaning toward Forever Now, I love what they did with it. I'm still not sure why we can't all just love Green Day. I find ALL there albums are fucking great!

The Trilogy is great.  Out of curiosity, how do you feel about other Green Day albums?  I know you don't like American Idiot or Revolution Radio, but what about Nimrod, Insomniac, Warning, Kerplunk, 1039 or Dookie?

I'll share first!  I'm an Idiot / Warning / Nimrod sort of fellow (Rev Rad's, with its commercially successful butt performing and such comes in at a close 4th - There, part of this is on topic!).

I peg you for a Trilogy / Insomniac / Kerplunk kind of guy.  Am I close?  Waaay off?

Dookie, Nimrod, Warning, Trilogy guy ;)

I totally understand that some people don't like RevRad. It has a very different vibe than all the other albums and it feels so personal and intimate, I understand that it doesn't resonate with every listener. I think RevRad is much more about emotions than the composition of the music itself or the lyrics (although I think that "Hallelujah I found my soul under the sofa pillow" is one of the greates lines Billie has ever written, tbh). It touches you deep inside or it just doesn't. I think it's as easy as that.

All I can say is that it resonates a lot with me. And, to go back on topic, I think they made RevRad without caring a shit about commercial success. The trilogy was all about commercial success. The promotion before Uno was released was insane, there were even TV-spots here advertising the record, I'd never seen that before. They were forced to meet the high expectations - or even exceed them. The pressure was so high, and it almost killed Billie.

That's why I will never be able to enjoy the trilogy as much as I can enjoy other records, although there are many songs on there I like. RevRad, on the other hand, feels so light-hearted and yet so honest and reflective, I think they just wanted to share those emotions with us and tell us their story, no matter how well the album will do commercially. They've moved beyond that point. I mean, what else could they want to achieve? It will be so hard, almost impossible, to repeat the success they had with Dookie or AI, but why do they have to repeat it? That's what I hate about our modern world, everyone has to get better and better, the economy has to grow stronger every year, everything is growing, growing, growing.... We're not machines, and "good" is sometimes really good enough...

Oh and about reviews and critics... That's what GD answered when they were asked in that funny picture interview with Süddeutsche Zeitung magazine if they read reviews about their albums. I think it says a lot :lol:

I think Still Breathing (with a little bit of promotion by GD, I'm really disappointed :dry:) is the most radio-friendly song of the new album. I've already said GD aren't exploiting its potential at all, even though it's doing good things on the charts.

Talking about RevRad: yes, it's a really good choice from this point of view. And I hope it will do well. Personally it's not my favorite song, but I can see it blasting on the radio. :happy:

Heard it on radio! Does sound awesome, my friend heard it and said he loved it. Said it was catchy and heavy, most people who aren't really into the band don't even realize it's them.

Nice. With the Trilogy in there that's half of Green Day's discography! :)

All of those are waaay up on my list too.

I really expected them to do more promotion of Still Breathing. It seems like it has a lot of potential, and it's hard to do more with it when they're starting the tour. Really hope they don't just let it fall by the wayside with limited promotion (no radio interviews / live performances / tv).

Weekly charts update for Still Breathing:

#1 on Rock Airplay;

#2 on Canada Rock;

#3 on Alternative;

#5 on Mainstream Rock;

#14 on Hot Rock.

The real good news is that, as listed by Mediabase, on the Alternative chart Still Breathing is now over Waste A Moment (Kings Of Leon). Even though, She's Out Of Her Mind (Blink-182) is always put over SB by Mediabase and under SB by Billboard. This means that next week there is a high probability for SB to reach #2. Here you can understand it better:

Also, is good to notice that finally the song is in the top 5 of all the Mediabase Rock charts (Rock, Alternative, Mainstream). That's all. :)

The increased from 17 to 14 on the Hot Rock chart is good because if GD can chart well on that chart they could enter the Billboard Hot 100 (which measures sales + airplay + streaming) since the Hot Rock chart also measures sales + airplay + streaming. Bang Bang peaked at No. 8 on that chart which is why it was able to chart at the Bubbling Under the Hot 100 chart. The higher SB peaks on that chart, the more likely it is to chart on the Hot 100. It peaked at No. 12 back in October and hasn't gotten any higher than that since

Thank you, I didn't know it. That's good because this way we can see every week how it's going for the Hot 100. :)

Yeah. I didn't know what each rock chart measured but it says https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billboard_charts#All-genre

It's kind of annoying that SB has been on No. 3 for like 3 weeks in a row on the Alternative chart. But I guess that's better than going down the chart

Green Day have been all over the radio stations in my town.  3 or 4 stations are playing them nonstop and I love it.

Been hearing lots of Idiot and Dookie singles (of course) and lots of Still Breathing.

I never hear Breakdown singles on the radio.   Never ever.   No Warning or Trilogy singles either.    Never ever.

Time will tell with the Revolution Radio singles.   But isn't it sad that out of 12 spectacular albums only 4 get any play?

The independent records had no singles.   Cool.  The Trilogy singles went down with a sinking ship, alright.     Warning had a lukewarm reception but had a few decent hits.  Breakdown had some really big songs but they get no radio play out here.   I don't know that I've EVER heard a Breakdown singles on the radio in 8 years.

That being said, I'm excited about hearing "Revolution Radio" on the radio.   It's going to do fine!

GUYS!  I didn't make a new post about it because I don't know if it's true or not.

I was on wikipedia (I know, I know) and it has "Ordinary World" list as the new single, and that it was released January 8th, 2017 as the next single from Rev Rad.

Can I get a confirmation or denial on this?   It could work at 3rd single.  "Still Breathing" isn't really a 'slow' song so maybe it's time.  And then the title track could come along after "Ordinary World" tears up the charts......

Lol "Ordinary World" isn't tearing up anything. "Still Breathing" is their best chance at a crossover hit, but it doesn't seem like they really care. I mean, at this point I wouldn't care either. They clearly don't value popularity at this point. As long as they can make albums and tour they're happy.

Yeah like any Green Day song will seriously tear up the charts, rock isn't the in thing anymore. I wouldn't worry about commercial performance like I have said one too many times.

Still haven't heard it on the radio too much here. Not on the classic rock station that I heard Longview twice in the last two days.

After 'Still Breathing' has lost its breath on the radio...  name a better tune than RevRad is how I should have asked the question.  BangBang is still on the radio, so after that song runs out of bullets name a better song that would be on the radio than RevRad.  Wordplay baby.

I hear Still Breathing on the radio all the time, almost to the point of being over played.  It most definitely has not lost its breath.

The key word was 'AFTER'.  Thank you very much and read my post again.  'AFTER'.  Like A.D. stands for Anno Domini.  Like A.T.  'AFTER TRESEXY101'.   Peace and Love.

Why would I have to read your post?  I didn't quote you, I simply made a statement.  Don't be so paranoid,
