The #1 on the Hot 200 is Solange's new album (released Sept. 30) and it say's it just debuted. The official chart will be published on Tuesday 18th, while the top ten on Sunday 16th. http://www.billboard.com/articles/columns/chart-beat/7540989/green-day-revolution-radio-billboard-200-chart-forecast
AndyWilly
It sold about 94,000 copies (including streaming) Even though the first week sales aren't what they could be, this album has a ton of potential. There are at least 3 songs on here that could rule alternative radio for the next year and a half. I think with the longevity potential, and the hard touring I expect them to do on this album, RevRad will end up outselling all of the trilogy albums. At first, I hated "Say Goodbye" but now it's constantly stuck in my head. I think that will end up being the biggest song from this albumhttp://headlineplanet.com/home/2016/10/14/green-days-revolution-radio-wins-us-album-sales-race-will-claim-1-billboard-200/
tomdsjames
I know it's been said by a few people already that album sales have declined in general so we shouldn't be disappointed by the fact RR has sold less than Uno in it's first week, but just for reference, here are the amount of copies sold for the number 1 album for the last 2 months in the UK W/E 20th Oct 2016 - Green Day - Revolution Radio (30,880) W/E 13th Oct 2016 - Craig David - Following My Intuition (24,500) W/E 6th Oct 2016 - Passenger - Young as the Morning, Old as the Sea (18,885) W/E 29th Sep 2016 - Bastille - Wild World (12,025) W/E 22nd Sep 2016 - Bastille - Wild World (36,039) W/E 15th Sep 2016 - Ward Thomas - Cartwheels (12,127) W/E 8th Sep 2016 - Barbara Streisand - Encore (19,778) W/E 25th Aug 2016 - Blossoms - Blossoms (7,948) So even though 30,880 may be some 12,000 copies lower than Uno, taking into consideration how much album sales have declined since then and looking at recent number 1s, RevRad actually has pretty impressive sales figures! As also mentioned previously, I think RR has much more longevity than Uno, as it's had a much more positive reception. It's still number 8 on iTunes this week, Uno had already dropped to 23 at the same point. Of course these are only UK figures and not for the rest of the world but still, just trying to make the point that lower first week sales than Uno shouldn't be considered disappointing. Congratulations GD! Yeah I just posted that in another thread! That was more than expected too so that's good. Considering the decline in album sales since 2012 and the fact that GD are now 30 years into their career, that can be seen as a great result for them. I hope this album gets the recognition it deserves. It'd be great if people who haven't listened to GD in years hear this and like it
James11693
I'm happy for them but, I really wish it would have at least hit 100K. Blink doubled the sales in opening week. Hopefully it'll be promoted a little better within the next couple months. They can easily have a couple hits with Still Breathing and Ordinary World. As I said in my previous post "Considering the decline in album sales since 2012 and the fact that GD are now 30 years into their career, that can be seen as a great result for them". First-week sales aren't everything. I believe that RevRad will sell much better than Uno did in the next few weeks, and even if they don't who cares? It doesn't make the album any worse. I just want GD to do well because I think they deserve it but if they don't then whatever. I mean, 21CB only did as well as it did because it was the follow up to AI. Considering RR was a follow up to the trilogy which was a commercial failure, it's doing well at the moment
RougeRogue
If anything I would hope or expect a "prodigal son returns...from rehab" mentality to simulate curiosity at the very least. Rather than consider it a follow up to the trilogy, I would think of it as a follow up to a public meltdown and that's where it would find its sales. Not that I want to be exploitive of the incident, but you know, it could drive something.
Alan86
It kind of bothers me that the album went to number 1 here in Ireland and Ireland is not included on their European tour. They used always come to Ireland but skipped us on the trilogy tour cycle and now this one too.
tomdsjames
Another interesting piece of info regarding how streaming has effected the charts - if the charts were still based on sales alone, Bang Bang would have made the UK Top 40, their first single to do so since 21 Guns in July 2009. However, because streaming counts towards the charts, it only managed to peak at number 84. This week will be just as interesting as last week to see if RevRad truly has more longevity than the trilogy. Uno managed sales of 12,255 in it's second week which was a whopping 70.61% drop and finished the week at number 9. RevRad is still number 8 on iTunes at the moment, whereas Uno had already dropped to number 30 at the same point. I'll be interested to see how much of a drop RR makes in it's second week but it looks as if the promo has been paying off so far! Plus RevRad is a superior album to Uno (IMO) FYI, above are UK figures. I've no idea what the comparisons are for the rest of the world but I'd bet they're quite similar. End Of The World
Guys, good news: RevRad is #1 on the Canadian Billboard chart too! http://www.fyimusicnews.ca/articles/2016/10/17/charts According to this website it has sold 9500 copies in Canada (ten times less than in the US). ZSebs
Because this album has done well so far, I really hope that at the bigger concerts when Billie tries to get the crowd to sing parts of the new songs, they actually will instead of just stand there awkwardly

Only American Idiot has reached that high in the album charts before.
