Whoever BTS is, I sadly think they're going to take #1 because they have TONS of plays on streaming sites and blasted to #1 on a bunch of other charts. They would have gotten #1 if it was for this week.

Aww, that does my heart good. Especially since OneRepublic is a pretty mainstream, popular band (and has been consistently during the time Green Day was on break), makes me happy that Green Day is totally kicking their ass.

Sales figures have been revised up by roughly 10,000.  Green Day will undoubtably take the number 1 spot in US:

So happy to hear that. iTunes charts are waaaaay better than the one for Uno.

FINALLY Bang Bang hits #1 for Rock Airplay over Heathens (which is hardly rock.) - Bang Bang was at 2nd place for 4 weeks in a row before this week.

Also Bang Bang is in 1st for Mainstream Rock Songs for the 7th week. Two weeks ago it was in 2nd place behind Metallica.

@T.C Thanks so much for these updates! The U.K. has excellent taste in music. Good to see that it's staying in the same spot in many places, and even moving up in a few.

80,000 physical copies, it doesn't include streaming.  Plus, you can't compare, it is different weeks.  All the industry mags are saying it is a success.

This link says 84-89k pure copies and then 88-93k total first week consumption (pure sales + track sales/10 + track streams/1500) so it seems like that hasn't made that much difference

But I want to know if that's good nowadays? How do average first week consumptions for albums in 2016 compare with the averages in 2012 or 2009? Would 90k copies in 2016 be equivalent to 120k copies in 2012 etc?

It was 80,000 PURE copies and it does include digital copies too I think. Blink-182's album sales didn't include streaming either since it is sales that we're talking about. And why couldn't you compare different weeks on sales? I get that you can't on charting but that's different.

IMO what is important now is to debut no.1 on the Billboard. I'm hopeful RevRad will sell next weeks.

Pretty sure it will do good on the following weeks since the promotion just started and it has received very positive feedback.

Ok, I missed that.  Album sales are a general rule lower now than in the past.  With the increase of downloads and streaming, people don't need to purchase an album.  they can pick and choose whatever songs they want.

Not just with music, but with any type of consumable, there are good times and bad times to release.  For example, summer is the best time to release music.  Alot of people are on vacation and have more free time.  They have the time to pay more attention to what is being released.  Plus, there are a ton of festivals and people want to hear new music.  Fall is generally a bad time because people are back to work or back to school after the holidays and are focusing on that.  Plus, people are not generally thinking about purchases for Christmas.  And after all the money spent on holidays in the summer, they may not have as much disposable income.

So, I'm not saying this is exactly what is making up the difference, but I would think it makes a big difference.  Blink released the best time to release music and GD one of the worst.

Plus, GD had alot of competition the day they released, there was SUM41, NOFX, even Norah Jones.  Blink did not have as much competition

So how many physical copies did Uno sell in the first week rather than comparing Green Day to Blink.

Good point but honestly I don't think that it makes that much of a difference. GD still sold 100k copies less than blink so it's still a dissapointing.

According to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billboard_200#Incorporation_of_streaming_data_and_track_sales, it wasn't until December 2014 that they started to incorporate streaming and track sales into total album sales so the 139,000 copies that Uno sold in its first week back in 2012 would've all been from pure copies

You may think it is disappointing, but all the write ups we have read indicate otherwise.   GD has sold double its nearest competitor for the same week.  That is pretty freakin amazing.  You are comparing apples to oranges.

The thing is that that isn't a good indicator. Green Day just realised the album with WAY smaller artists as competetors. That doesn't make the number any better.

No, Blink had pretty much no competition.  The only competition the week they released was Snoop Dogg.  GD had Norah Jones, One Republic, SUM 41, NOFX, even Melissa Etheridge.

Why are you getting so upset?  The industry write ups seem to be very positive about the sales of this album.  I am not an industry insider so I only have to go with what I read.  Plus, this is only a forecast, we need to wait to see the actual numbers.  Also, I believe California is at around 250K sales now,  so even though it had a great irst week, it hasn't sold much after that.  You need to sit back and see what happens in weeks to come.  Also, GD really didn't start promoting this album until this week.  You also have ot consider the succes of Bang Bang, it has been #1 on the rock charts for 6 of 7 weeks.  It went to #2 for 1 week and climbed back up to #1.  Bored to dEath didn't get any higher than 6.  These are all good indications.  The success of an album isn't gauged only by first weeks.  If it can maintain a decent sales track, much like Bang Bang is on the charts, it will be successful
