Well it says "74-79,000 pure US copies", by pure copies, does it mean excluding digital copies?

Also, if it's on track to be a #1 album, that must mean it's doing better than Sum 41's new album which was released on the same day

I don't know for sure, but the way the article reads, it sounds like it is physical copies.  I guess we will knwo more when we see the actual numbers because the Billboard 200 includes physical copes, digital downloads and streams.

If itunes is any indication of total sales (and I dont' know if it is or is not) then Sum 41 is not doing well.  Revolution Radio has been #1 since right after the release.  Sum 41 got as high as 10, but is now at 14.

Where do I find the iTunes charts? I tried looking but maybe I'm blind.

Also this probably has been posted elsewhere but I just saw it

So how much % of album sales do physical copies account for vs digital? Cause if around 50% of album sales are physical, that means that RR would probably get around 150-160k total album sales, if they account for less, than we can expect even more

ALSO: This is on the front page of iTunes. Looks like Still Breathing is becoming the most popular song on the album:

I think as of 2015, digital sales started passing physical but not it's been on and off from what I heard depending on what genre because vinyl has been jumping back in big numbers. A band like Green Day will sell a much higher physical copy percentage than like a younger pop star because most people in the younger demographic don't care for a physical copy. Lazaretto by Jack White was the best selling vinyl album since the early 90s, selling 60,000 records on release weekend for example.

Hmm. Well as long as it sells better than the trilogy, I'll be happy enough

RevRad is predicted to sell 74k-79k units in the US in the first week

That's pretty weak, I was honestly expecting high 100 thousands. Especially since blink hit 180,000 copies in first week. I thought the singles for this album were doing better than blinks so I'm shocked it's expected to sell so low. Definitely disappointing

I went to my local janky ass Target (seriously, guys, it's so old, it still has neon and signs that make you feel like it's 1993) tonight, 30 minutes before the store closed so I could get the CD for the $9.99 sale price. They never even put out their stock of the CD; I thought they were sold out so when I went to ask for a rain check on the price (as I was too lazy to drive to the one on the other side of town open an hour later), and when he scanned the display barcode where the CDs should have been, and he's like, Oh, it says there's 14 on the floor and some in the back. So he went to the back ... yeah, there were all in the back. So, that's reassuring for sales, huh? I was either the first person to look for the CD, or at least the first person to ask if they had any/could get a rain check and didn't just assume they were sold out and walked away. =/ Granted, my ZIP code isn't exactly one where Green Day is going to be popular, and I know how silly it is to look for a physical CD in a Target in 2016, but still.

The album will debut at number 1, so it's obviously a success. If it sells 80,000 pure units, it'll likely do 160,000 total sales for the (1 sale/1500 stream) rule. After 12 albums, that's nothing to sneeze at.

I've got 1 copy on CD and 3 copies on vinyl so that should help them get that number 1 lol

I went to my local store on Friday (the biggest and most popular store in all of Western Australia) and they said their delivery truck never came so the album wouldn't be in until Monday. I had to go elsewhere to buy it.

Dunno, I'd believe that most gd fans buy physical copies instead of digital downloads.

Revolution Radio isn't even in the top 100 on iTunes Ireland. This is rubbish.

It's No. 3 on iTunes Ireland. It was actually number 1 when I checked yesterday.

how do they predict the week sales by one day? i mean, it's hard to get it right .May be a lot of record stores will have it by Monday. and it's number one in iTunes ,few people buy CDs nowadays. and about Blink debate, they are pop band and Green Day isn't. If anything ,Bang bang isn't pop .

i expect this album to sell great and who cares if it doesn't? big albums catch attention at any time.

and green day has more fans in England and europe anyway. Aren't those sells important? usa sells aren't everything. GD had their biggest shows in UK.

Personally, I believe the critics like GD as well as their fans - but the general public has moved on. I mean nothing stays at the top forever, and GD had two peaks in their career - something unheard of. Blink 182 got hype from the reunion, but if they never broke up, then they'd be in a similar boat in terms of sales.

I bought the album at Best Buy the evening of the day it came out, and the display was loaded with unsold copies. A lot of my friends, coworkers, and acquaintances had no idea an album was coming out. Most remember "Wake Me Up When September Ends", "Blvd of Broken Dreams", "American Idiot", and "Basket Case" only. A significant portion thought GD broke up, or they just lost interest.

I don't buy music that much anymore but I figured I'd go on the ole iTunes to buy RevRad and help their sales/chart placement. Turns out my account somehow got deactivated. I was on hold with Apple for 20 minutes before I hung up.

Looks like I'll be making a trip to Target tomorrow.
