xXRustyJamesXx
I think Revolution Radio could do better.... only 675k plays on Spotify and 2.6 mio views on Facebook... And I couldn't find it anywhere on the charts

Need to watch a full length of video or few seconds only? That's not youtube and facebook doesn't open new page for that video I believe that YouTube registers a view as soon as the video starts playing, even <1 second. Facebook I think takes a couple of seconds to register a view, but since it autoplays it registers a lot of not-really-views as views anyway. Sure, Bang Bang got the hype for being the first material in ages, but revrad's not doing badly at all. 1 minute ago, Scattered Wreck said: I don't think they necessarily release all songs to radio. legendary
Revolution Radio song is not a single like Bang Bang... RR is more "promotional song" i guess

RR is more "promotional song" i guess In the modern music industry it's very hard to define what is and isn't a 'proper' single, since on iTunes you can buy almost any song on its own. In the past, if you wanted a song as a single it had to be one that the label had chosen, because they couldn't economically issue 45s for every song. But now every song can be offered for individual sale at no extra cost. Unless bands come out and say it or release the songs separately as singles on iTunes (which I don't think has happened for BB yet, correct me if I'm wrong) then it's really not clear whether a song is a single or not. Yeah even first song releases can be promotional and not singles. Back in the day, release to radio and physical copies in stores meant official single release. In fact, that's why most of GD's 90's stuff never charted on the Billboard Hot 100: they never released their singles as official singles.

They haven't posted anything on social media recently and it's really frustrating. What's going on here? My original thought (which I posted somewhere about a month ago) was that promotion would start in the last couple of weeks of September (week beginning 19th), and if it hadn't started by the 26th I'd be worried. Given that the promo tour starts on Tuesday (20th), I think it's fair to assume that all their promotional activities will pick up massively this coming week. As I said before, I'll still be worried if promotion hasn't increased at all by this time next week.
RedundantIdiot
I know this isn't totally related to this thread, but I notice that GD's Facebook page has had a lot more likes in the last few weeks. Obviously people are hearing the new songs/seeing them on Facebook and they are liking the Facebook page.
stories and songs
They're probably just hunkering down getting ready for the tour. Just a few days left to prep!
Dakke
I think that a successful start of the tour will help more than anything else to promote the album and propel them back to the front of the stage. They'll probably release Youngblood as the next single before the 7th too, so we'll not be low on news the coming weeks, as it should be.
Maddie86
so what do people think has been lacking in promotion so far? they've already been in 2 issues of Kerrang and 2 issues of Rolling Stone, along with EW and another one or two mags, and they did that iHeart twitter takeover too. They've already released 2 songs, one of which has 2 videos and is charting really well. They're going to be in more magazines when it comes closer to the album release, and I'm sure they're finally going to start doing some live interviews and TV performances. They're probably waiting to perform new material on TV until they see how it does live with people who are already fans instead of testing it in front of a mass audience where they're trying to win over new fans or convince casual fans that the new album is worth buying. Their tour seems to have no problem selling tickets. I think things are moving right on track, sometimes you guys expect too much!

Hermione
Finally seeing Bang Bang on Scuzz right at this moment! But why the fuck is it the lyric video instead of the proper one? And is it really necessary for the whole line "give me head" to be replaced by an "ah-ah-ah" instead of maybe just the word head? I thought Scuzz was edgier than that Anyway it seems bad that the real video isn't being shown on music channels. Has anyone else seen it on TV at all? I saw the lyric video on Kerrang the day after the real video came out, I presumed it was down to Facebook exclusivity or something. As far as I remember, the version I heard had 'give me death or give me [blank]' rather than ditching the whole line. Tbh I don't get what's so wrong about including the whole thing, it can sound totally innocent unless people already know what head means, and by that point they don't really care. I suppose there's rules to follow before the watershed or whatever. Seem unnecessary to lose the whole line though. You'd think by now it'd be on TV/everywhere, seems a bit of a shame when it's a good video and those channels like to show Green Day videos a lot. Yeah, it doesn't really make sense why it isn't all over Kerrang, Scuzz and even MTV Rocks. Kerrang is still showing the 'New ADTR video' which came out weeks ago. I might tweet them and ask when we're gonna see it.

I've seen it quite a few times on MTV as they did a whole Green Day: Brand New Video thing over a few days when the actual video came out where they slotted it in a few times a day and I've caught both the lyric and actual videos on Kerrang, not really seen any on Scuzz but I can't say i've had Scuzz on much the last week or two to really say if they have or not.
