It's kind of hard to judge Ordinary World from just one live solo acoustic performance. It was also the last song from a long night with no other instruments. I think it has huge potential because of the strong melody, and simple but timeless lyrics. I have a feeling when we hear the studio version there will be a lot of people saying 'sooo much better than the live version we heard' lol

It's almost impossible for it not to improve in the studio. As for the melody and lyrics? I'm still not convinced. In a Green Day setting, it's very mediocre to me
It could definitely be a single, just not the second single, as that is always the big take-over-the-world mega hit! (Basket Case, Good Riddance, BoBD, 21 Guns)

Didn't that poster who first posted the tracklisting say that the singles would be Bang Bang (1st), Revolution Radio (2nd) and Youngblood (3rd)?

I mean, if Green Day randomly played time of your life at a live show on the Insomniac tour with just Billie on the guitar singing live at the end of a long night, it's possible you'd get the same reaction. When you go into the studio and actually craft a song, it can make the world of difference. I could honestly see that song being played on pop rock stations for years, it's so simple and relatable. I'm not saying it's a masterpiece, but it's a very 'appeal to the masses' type of song.

Ordinary World would be the worst choice for a single because

1) It's a mediocre song, from what I've heard of the live version. I know the studio version might be better but I doubt it'll be that much better so I don't think it should be a single

2) The singles should probably be political songs, which I feel the title track would probably be

3) We've already heard it. I'd prefer to hear a brand new song

I mean, if I compare Ordinary World with any of GD's previous hits, it'd be absolutely nothing. I wouldn't even have it as a single if it was in the trilogy

I don't think now would be the right time to release Ordinary World, I think since that song raps up the album it should also be the last single they release. RevRad could be the next single I think, the alliteration in the name and the fact that it's the new record's title track, it just feels smart from a marketing standpoint. Revolution Radio sticks in your head a lot better than say Somewhere Now :P

I think Ordinary World really has a great melody to it, also the live version that we got so far is barely 2min long, I think the studio version might have more parts. It could be a single in my opinion, since it would probably reach a larger crowd than Bang Bang, like people who just listen to mainstream pop radio

All the GD albums with title tracks had said tracks released as singles, so I'm thinking Revolution Radio the song is next.

The title track would also probably help to promote the album so it would make sense to have it nearest to the release date.

"We" as in a couple hundred people. The crowd there and the hard core fans I'm sure have heard it, but not many people outside of those two groups.

I personally really like Ordinary World and I think if it were to be released as a single, it would do pretty well. It seems like people always dig a good slow song.

I like slow songs but if you compare this to their previous slower songs, it doesn't really compare at all. And when I said 'we' I meant most of us on this forum. And I'm pretty sure more than a couple hundred people have heard it considering the video on YouTube has 50k views

I'm guessing the other singles will be Revolution Radio, Outlaws, Youngblood and Still Breathing

if they're gunna release a ballad as a single I hope they wait until the 3rd single. I think they should release another high energy single a week before the album comes out to get people amped up and more excited for the album and hopefully increase its sales, don't go for a crossover hit until after the album's already out

I better take a guess.   If I get it right I'll never shut up about for the rest of time.    I'll say:

Green Day likes using the 5th song off an album for the second singles so...

First guess is Outlaws.

Bouncing off the Wall or Still Breathing are also contenders for 2nd Single.

(I'll also guess that BANG BANG, Outlaws, Still Breathing and Ordinary World will be the four singles released from the whole thing.   I hope we get a fifth but let's only get way ahead of ourselves.)

More than likely Revolution Radio will be a single, just maybe not the second one.  They are probably going to release two more singles.  One that is hard edge while the other one will be on the softer side.  Then again if the only song on the album that is ballad like is ordinary world, then they really can go any route.  Time will tell.

Only 3 of the 11 album uses the 5th song as a single

It's the most used number.     The other 2nd singles were mostly early tracks (first five) but some were near the end of the albums.

Pretty sure it's Revolution Radio. After all it's the title track.... And do you remember that set list Billie posted on instagram with Revolution Radio below Bang Bang? I think that means something.
