It's really great how excited he seems about touring again :D Looking forward to the Kerrang interview

So much food for thought coming from this interview! Can't believe this thread has only 2 pages.

As for the Trilogy, to me it sounds like Billie is somehow indirectly blaming Rob Cavallo for the way things turned out: "This time I just wanted to feel the freedom of just depending on ourselves and getting in a room."  and especially "The intention was to make it more raw and off the cuff and the opposite happened [...]". Let me know what you guys think, I might as well have got it all wrong.

It was pretty cool to read that Mike has taken lessons to improve his bass skills. I mean, he's a professional and clearly talented musician, so that's really inspiring. It shows that no matter how good you are at doing something, there's always room to learn and improve if you find the right motivations. It amazes me how a 44-year-old RnR Hall of Famer rockstar still finds that motivation and is humble enough to actually take lessons from someone else. Gosh, I'm 21 and haven't accomplished anything in life yet and I find it hard to feel that motivation fire sometimes. I love the thought of Mike carefully listening to someone who's not nearly as famous as he is and yet he acknowledges him to be superior in bass playing.

Also, Bang Bang was written 2 years ago? Really? It's astonishing how topical that song is.

There's a lot more to talk about, but let's start with this. The post is already long af and I hope you guys can find something to discuss about it.

Yes, he seems to see the problem in production. That's where the problem was, after all. It doesn't have to mean he is holding it against Cavallo, it just might be that he wants to try something different this time. Last time they self-produced was Warning. It could be they are experimenting like that again.

so I got the new issue of Rolling Stone and the article they printed is actually just a condensed version of what they put online. so yeah, the online interview is better, no need to go out and buy the issue

That seems stupid, surely you'd expect the more detailed article to be in print?  Kinda at risk of alienating their print readers.

It's very surprising that Mike has taken lessons. I mean, what do you think he learned ?

I hope it means that we will have great bass lines in Revolution Radio.

I don't know, I guess there is always room for improvement. Maybe to be faster? Punk style music can be extremely difficult to keep up with for bass and he shows on Bang Bang he's not playing around. I admire that he actually is that humble to take lessons and improve even more.

maybe he's trying to get his wrist stamina up so they can play panic song live haha

doubtful, but that'd be awesome.

We can all live in hope.

This post has been edited because I looked at it again and felt that my reply was inappropriate - it is not my place to speculate on serial killers serving as anybody's inspiration, especially not when the point I actually wanted to make was that songs can be recorded years before they see the light of the day, because of albums being queued to suit labels and so on. I'm sorry about that!
