Secret Shows in the Bay?

As they did with 21CB, and the Trilogy, they did a bunch of secret shows in the Bay, Costa Mesa and Austin.

A friend of mine who is well tied in with places GD liked to play, said "Don't be surprised if they make secret show announcements following Thursdays release"

He was the one who gave me the heads up on the Uptown show and 1,2,3,4 GO! And i was at both...keep your ears open!

Ahg tbh I don't want it to happen because I wouldn't be able to make it. I would be able to go a week or two after (and I really want to).

Let's see if it's true or not... do you think they would announce them with the release tomorrow?

Who knows? Usually its a 24 hour announcement. If that.

Yeah well it depends. In the past it's been 5 days up to a few hours (I think). I'm thinking in terms of strategy, if the announcement would overlap the single promotion or if it would add to it. Don't know. I'm more sane thinking it won't happen :) haha

Lucky bastard, you saw what was probably the only live performance of "Lazy Bones". Plus, I would have loved to been at a show where Billie smashed his guitar!

That was probably one of the best, unplanned nights of my life. I was living in SF and my buddy gave me a call and told me theres something "Big going on at this new record store in Oakland, I think its Green Day from everyone whos talking. Get your ass there"

Needless to say, I jumped on Bart and headed over there to see like 5 people in line. Probably 2 hours before the show and 100 people in line, they shut the gates. Close to 1000 people tried showing up.

2 ad a half hours of madness. You can see me in the "Newsie" Hat during Lazy Bones in the video.

Oh, and they bought like 5 kegs.

Cool.  I tried to get Echoplex tickets for the Trilogy show, but they sold out in literally a second.

Waiting for this to happen.  Fingers crossed there will be a show soon in the Bay Area.  I am thinking there will be something for sure soon.

What a great story and fantastic memory- times like that are what life is all about. You'll enjoy that memory for the rest of your life!

Without knowing any inside information, I would say it's 99% probably that some form of secret shows will take place in the next couple of weeks. They've very clearly publicized that they're rehearsing for live shows, and given tour logistics and the fact that the announcement has not yet happened, the full official tour is at least a month and a half or two months away. I'm just being Captain Obvious, but they must be rehearsing for some smaller gigs well in advance of the main tour. And the Bay area is the natural assumption for where those small gigs would start.

Best of luck- I hope you can attend and make some equally great memories!

Hope they do! Less than 24 hours notice is rare, they do usually announce it and sell tickets online a few days in advance, especially when it's a show that's part of new album promotion rather than just one at a random time. But with them it could be either way, fingers crossed for it!

Plot twist:

They do a secret/last minute show tomorrow to announce the album.

And the news will hit the web seconds after it's announced.

It was fantastic! Tre even poured me up a cup of beer from the keg. It was like they were throwing a house party. I'll never forget it!

Wasnt that amazing? I left that show with a whole "what the fuck just happened?"

I remember after they played "Let yourself go" I said loudly "Holy shit!! What the fuck was that?!! Play it again!!!" They all looked at me with big cheesing grins and Billie was like "we'll do it again later!!! On with the show!"
