But it is really stupid that Billie said "want to destroy the phrase pop punk forever" and then made a pop punk - album...

Maybe he wasn't directing it at Green Day? Just saying, he could've been referencing anything and something completely unrelated to Green Day

It's the same as ever. I honestly don't know why Billie hyped it so much. The Bang Bang fill is the most outstanding thing you'll hear from Tre on this record.

Well that sucks. He used to be my favorite drummer, until i got better (I play too), and I can't figure out why he doesn't do much. He is not very creative honestly, compared to Travis, Josh Dun, etc.

He said "the phrase" pop punk. Not pop punk itself. It doesn't even matter anyway? It's Green Day, pop punk or not.

That sounds like perfection to me.

it would be if everyone agreed with me.  Listening to it a third time, it flows well.  It is aggressive lyrically, but as far as tempo no.  Fastest songs are bang bang, revolution radio, forever now, too dumb to die

I don't get the part of the fanbase that are against pop punk.....if you like Green Day, you like pop punk, it's as simple as that hahaha

When he sings "I was a high school atom bomb" in Too Dumb to Die sounds EXACTLY like Fashion Victim, holy crap.

Maybe people were expecting too much, I think I'm in a similar position to you, I'm gonna hold out and wait and what people are saying doesn't fill me with confidence but I think I'll love it. Loud guitars are my thing! I was hyped for Youngblood too weirdly enough! Maybe it'll take time to grow on you?

The guitars, drums and bass in my opinion match really well. I like the lyrics but don't like that much the melody but I only listened 1 time the record so maybe that song will grow on me, lets see what happens.

No, it's not. In fact, Green Day might be the only pop-punk band I listen to.

GAH! I downloaded it and listened until the first line just to make sure I downloaded the right thing, then I turned it off. :runaround:It's the middle of the day, I feel like I should wait until tonight when I can listen completely without distraction. But this is ALL I'M GOING TO THINK ABOUT.

I said I was going to wait until at least after tomorrow's show. My willpower is nonexistent.

And they said Warning was too pop. This is like the most pop album they made. I have no problem with good pop songs like Still Breathing, but bad pop songs are just awful. Somwhere Now sounds like California and I hate California.

I love how they used Fashion Victim in Too Dumb To Die :P That's one of the better songs.

Say goodbye sounds like a song of someone out for vengeance and is having fun while doing it.

Say goodbye is so fun.

Somewhere Now like California?? THat's like the stupidiest thing I've ever heard. Somewhere Now is mostly 70s rock like. It has nothing to do with pop.
