It definitely needs a few listens and to be played in order. The first time I just picked out the tracks I was most intrigued by (hoping I'd resist the rest, as if) but that was a stupid idea, spoilt it a bit. Feeling a lot more love for it after listening in order, going to try not to listen to anything other than the singles until I've got the CD now. Pretty sure I'll end up loving it! Especially when I can see the lyrics.

I really don't know how to feel about the album. It really is all over the place. One time it flows well, another the transitions are really awkward; one time the production is on point, another it's way overproduced; one time it's sweet and poignant, another it's boring; one time it's pushing boundaries, another it's extremely generic. The list goes on. Just a really mixed bag.

YES.

I need to listen it at least 3 more times to give a serious, complete review, but this record is a fucking Green Day's MANIFESTO.

You guys are getting me hyped as fuck :D

Let me say this: There are some really awesome moments amidst the mediocrity. Some guitar parts and Billie's vocals really shine at times.

Yeah I think this is a good summary, I do think there's more of the good moments than the bad moments though

Sorry guys but it is definitely pop punk.

It's honestly their most pop punk album ever.

I've noticed you and I have very similar views on Green Day's material. Seeing you being very pleased with the record makes me more excited.

After first listen, my favourites are Say Goodbye, Outlaws, and Troubled Times. They're sooo good. I'm also happy with the way Ordinary World turned out. Didn't care much for Bouncing Off The Wall or Youngblood, but I'll have to give the whole album a couple more listens.

Uno was much more evidently edited (?) the vocal filters were very prominent, I wouldn't say there's anything like that on RR

No it wasn't. The vocals were very clear, RR has so many effects on them.

I'm still not really sure how I'm feeling about the album as a whole. Need a few more listens I think. I really wish the trilogy had this production value that's for sure. This album has some of the biggest, heaviest sounds they've ever done, which is pretty awesome.

So far SAY GOODBYE is jumping out at me the most, very cool and different song. Powerful.

I think it depends on your definition of pop punk. The album doesn't try to be catchy or hooky. Its not really produced like a pop album. It has no songs about relationship problems. It doesn't sound anything like Blink 182, FOB, New Found Glory, All Time Low ect.

Absolutely. My favorite on the album.

It's seriously one of the most beautiful songs they have made, I can imagine a music video with some flashbacks to the Dookie/Kerplunk era...

My favourite song on DOS is Wild One because it has this romantic atmosphere but Outlaws wrecked Wild One so hard.
