Long story short:

- Still Breathing (my favorite, one of my new favorite GD songs)
- Say Goodbye
- Bouncing off the Wall
- Troubled Time
- Still Breathing
- (Young Blood / Ordinary World)

Are really, really nice tracks except the last two (which are quite good). The rest is, at least for me, average or disposable. Overall, I like it better than the Trilogy, altough it won't be the big commercial comeback I fear.

Oh, and it's definitely different. A very dynamic record.

Well.. and that's it. Revolution Radio..

Damn, definitely not what I expected but, jesus christ, I really enjoyed it. I would say something like Nimrod variety + 21CB meets the trilogy.

So, not to invite heavy spoilers, but is ordinary world 1 vastly different from ordinary world 2?

There are some "oohhs" backing vocals but it's only Billie with an acoustic guitar, I think it's gorgeous.

And some lyrics changed.

NOT LISTENING. I will summon the Gods of patience and resisit the urge to listen. Just keep reminding myself I paid 30$ for the preorder, and that money will be wasted if I listen to it now. No matter how tempting... :ninja:

If you're saying that 1 is the live and 2 the record one, yes a little bit in my opinion, I like the live one more than the record one but still like the record one

"i never learned to read or write so well, but i can play the guitar until it hurts like hell"

Having not listened to the album, there seems to be a LOT of mixed feelings. Makes me that much more interested in hearing it.

I am not downloading it. But I am listening to it :P somewhere now has got a slow ballad feel to it. It's slow at some points but has these anthemic shout outs which are really catchy. He was right when he said it was a "who-ish" sort of song

I feel like i should remind you guys that every song on this album doesn't need to be amazing for this to be a great record. If looks like some people on here are like oh no only 7 of the songs are really good this record is only average. Im hearing a lot of positives about somewhere now, say goodbye and ordinary world which is making me excited.

Oh man, my intention was not to listen to the leak since I was assuming it would come out a week before the release, but two weeks? Fuck it, I'm downloading it.

It's definitely different and a lot more chilled than I expected. Overall I really like it. Several of the songs sound better after a couple of listens so I think it'll all grow on me. First impressions:

Somewhere Now: I definitely like this much, much more on a second listen. If I had to pick a song to compare it to I'd also choose 21CB, though it's quite different at the same time.

Say Goodbye: love this! I agree it's a bit like East Jesus Nowhere, not to the point it feels like a repeat of it though. Very catchy and I'm glad it was on that setlist Billie posted, because it'll be amazing live.

Outlaws: not going to lie I thought this was awful on the first listen haha. Again, I like it much more on the second. It's dreamy and nostalgic, feels like a song about ageing but not in a bitter way.

Bouncing off the Walls: decent track, wouldn't call it filler like some people were worried it'd be. Solid lyrics and Still Breathing fits well after it.

Youngblood: wasn't what I expected either, not sure if I like it or not. The lyrics are typical Billie, putting himself down and complimenting a girl. Some of them are a bit clumsy.

Too Dumb to Die: I like it a lot! Sort of like an evolution of Sex, Drugs & Violence in terms of the concept (that's not a bad thing).

Troubled Times: it's OK. Feels quite dark. Will probably grow on me.

Forever Now: I like this much more on a second listen. Love the lines "I never learned to read or write that well / but I can play the guitar until it hurts like hell", I think that captures what Billie was going for. Transitions beautifully into Ordinary World.

Ordinary World: simple but a really lovely closer for the album and I can definitely see it being a closer at shows. Love it, it's beautiful.

We all already know what Still Breathing sounds like, but I think it's absolutely the album's strongest track and will probably become one of my favourite Green Day songs.

And I'm angry with myself for listening but oh well. Wish it hadn't leaked. But listening to it with the lyrics in my hands will be a different experience.

Got on this thread about 10 minutes ago and thought: Well, damn I can't take the risk of downloading it at school with their wifi.
Then I remembered I can simply listen to it because it will still satisfy my needs (If I had been at home, the download will have probably have happened).

So much for getting some homework done today.

It's been interesting reading the response to the record thus far.

It's the best Green Day album in years and I'm only on "Too Dumb To Die."  "Bouncing Off The Wall" and "Youngblood" are my favorites off the album so far, they fucking rock.

Edit: Troubled Time sounds a bit like "While My Guitar Gently Weeps."

Agreed. If I absolutely LOVE half of an album, that's pretty damn good. I don't expect to wholeheartedly adore the entire album, or any album for that matter.

I came here before listening to the album and got a little scared. But I loved it, in my opinion it's in my top 3 records from them. About the tracks, loved Revrad, Outlaws, Still breathing, Troubled times and Ordinary world and I liked the way Somewhere now kinda connects with Forever now. Was hyped for Youngblood, it ended up being the one I don't like.

Maybe people were expecting too much, I think I'm in a similar position to you, I'm gonna hold out and wait and what people are saying doesn't fill me with confidence but I think I'll love it. Loud guitars are my thing! I was hyped for Youngblood too weirdly enough! Maybe it'll take time to grow on you?
