I think, just maybe, since Geezer is coming out in the fall when GD's album is about to drop, they may released 'Devils Kind' as a promotion for both their album and movie?  I dunno.   Also, I read in a thread that had nothing to do with bread that 'Ordinary World' shouldn't be their last track.  If some of the album, or most, I dunno, were about this chaotic world we live in....  than 'Olivia' should be the last track due to the lyric 'this city's in ruins but there's a flower on the crack of the street'.  Meaning hope for the future?

Ordinary World should work perfectly because it'll be about how after all the chaos in the world sometimes you just want a peace of mind.

I've never heard of Green Day doing paid VIP packages and would think much less highly of them if they did.

They've done meet and greets in the past, I went to one that Mike Dirnt did on the last tour and it was fun but not as great as meeting them due to sheer determination imo :P If you really want to meet them I recommend getting to the show early and finding the tour buses, then ducking out of the show early and running round to the back to wait for them. Also, hang around nearby coffee places, you may run into them there!

Thanks! Why did Mike didn't do one alone though? Did you have to get a package or something to meet him?

Mike did one to promote a guitar shop in my area. I don't know why he did it alone, but he did. You didn't have to get a package, you just had to show up, get a line number, and wait in line. He was there for a couple of hours getting through as many people as he could before he had to leave and warm up for the show that night, it was really nice and generous of him.

Nope! They told us to mind our p's and q's and not freak out or else they wouldn't let anyone come see us, but otherwise were totally cool.

It's how I met the ever-elusive Tre Cool, and I know on the last tour people met the rest of the guys that way as well. I'd already met Billie and Mike prior to the Trilogy tour so I didn't really care about waiting around to meet them again but I was pretty pumped to finally meet Tre!

Eh it really depends. Just get to the show early and do some exploring. It's fun to queue and meet other fans anyway, back before I had adult responsibilities () I liked to show up in the morning and see what came of the day.

Great advice- I posted my ridiculously lucky/ unforgettable story in the meeting Green Day thread, but from my experience they do normal things- like get coffee, etc. during the afternoon before the show, and if you are in the area there is a chance you'll have a chance to meet. Also, during the last tour, we saw them one night at a casino venue (Mohegan in CT) and long after I had gone to bed my brother and his wife ended up at a blackjack table with Tre. He was apparently in and out in 10 minutes, but it was 10 minutes he'll never forget

Also, I just listened to BB for the 100th time. The song still slays. I am also a fan of Metallica (but not on the same level), and I'm having trouble with their new song. Has anyone else experienced this? I have really high standard for the band, and to me it sounds like their version of KYE- repetitive, not terrible, but not nearly as good as what they are (were?) capable of.

What a year- new Blink, Green Day, and Metallica. It hasn't all been great (thank god the new Green Day is), but I'm glad to see all of them still getting after it....

I could see that. I wouldn't think it would be a single though, maybe just a release, like they did with Nuclear Family.

There's also an element of uncertainty here- if BB flops (which seems unlikely given that it is a ridiculously good tune, has good reviews, and is off to a good start) they do have the discretion to move up the next single if they feel it's beneficial. Not the same thing, but remember how Prosthetic Head was the 2nd single from Nimrod? I remember the sticker on the album saying so in addition to them mentioning this during the Modern Rock Live interview. They decided to go with Good Riddance instead (there's probably a thread about this, but I am newly curious as to how this went down and the decision making involved). Again, not the same thing since they kept the same timing but just switched the single, but I think there is an element of flexibility based on the reception of BB. Seems like a smart "option" decision- if BB lights the world on fire, ride it and release the next single later. If not, BB was released so early they could put out the next single a few weeks before album release. Good backup plan.

I was curious to read a tweet from GD's iHeart radio takeover that they have two love songs....the two that Billie said were Ordinary World and the other was Youngblood.  In the snippet on GDA, from the Kerrang article - they say a standout lyric from Youngblood, the love song, is 'Fuck you I'm from Oakland'.  Also stating the Young blood is 'jubilant and vicious'.   I'm looking forward to that love song.

Awesome, great show and I remember the onstage moments! I was also way too exhausted to go out afterwards- went straight to bed. I was infuriated (in a good way) when my younger and more energetic brother told me about the blackjack encounter with Tre the next day! Congrats on getting onstage!

About "Hardwired"--I liked it but didn't love it. I mean, yeah, it was thrashy, but rather generic and forgettable IMO. To me, "Bang Bang" is the superior track. I have high expectations for both upcoming records, though.

Random thoughts on RevRad: I'm looking forward to Youngblood, Still Breathing and Too Dumb To Die. We already know the latter two are more personal songs and probably about Billie's addiction and his childhood/father. TDTD in particular has me intrigued because that theme was basically the first verse of 21CB (still my fave off 21CB). I think Youngblood will sonically differ very much from the slow ballad that is Ordinary World and will be more fast-paced like Bang Bang.

With regards to Metallica. I say wait for the album. Some people believe ride the lightening was their last good album. Some puppets some the black album. Frankly your taste can change however just wait for the album. Will it top justice, puppets or lightening. Probably not but it will still be a good album nonetheless. But I feel you. When first heard deftones gore I was a tad little disappointed but it grew on me.

Another thought: I'm rooting for Somewhere Now to be an epic opening track like 21st Century Breakdown with the multi-part structure of JoS and DRB. The presumable song length (6:52) at least is promising.

Forever Now is 6:52, not Somewhere Now.

You're right. I was confusing the two. Still, I think Somewhere Now will be an epic opener and Forever Now will be the awesome multi-part epic track before the ballad, like American Eulogy was to See the Light and DRB to The Forgotten.

That's an interesting observation, given that they are respectively the first and second-to-last songs on the album. Maybe they're thematically very similar, like 21CB and American Eulogy.

Yeah, but they are on different albums because they aren't connected.
