Having read the Rolling Stone article and Kerrang I'm seriously excited for the album  It sounds like Billie is tackling a range of deep topics, social, political and personal and If the lyrics on Bang Bang are anything to go by I'm sure they'll be fantastic. The only thing stopping me from counting down the days is the inclusion of Ordinary World. Unless it has dramatically changed from the version we already have heard then it's just so...ordinary . Boring is actually the correct word and the lyrics are really pathetic. I remember being told not to judge it so harshly when he played it live because he had been asked specifically to write it for Geezer and so I relented but I'm disappointed it's going to be on the album because by the sounds of Bang Bang they have been making amazing stuff. I won't whinge too much over one boring song though. It's good promo for the movie and vice versa I guess. I'm also extremely impressed that they self produced this album!

Where did Green Day even get this reputation of being about the military or "anti-military" or whatever?

Wake Me Up When September Ends music video. Never underestimate the stupidity of the human race.

@James11693 if you mean the show at 41 Ocean you can find the full concert starting from this video, but I think they didn't play Ordinary world that time. Or there is also another concert?

Awesome, thanks! That's what I was looking for. Thought they played it here also but I guess it was just at Tribeca.

Please tell me you play them very loudly when he's around!

Hope so! Green Day > personal relationships. I would throw every friend I have away if Billie told me to...like in a dream or something. Sever ties with my family if Mike thought it was best for me.

Soo...this "Devil's Kind" song that premiered at Tribeca. Any chances it'll make the record under a different name?

Also...why do I have this random quote from "thatdude03"? I guess I was trying to quote a post of his several days ago but I opted against responding and now I can't get it out of the "reply" box. Not the first time this has happened (sorry if it tags you, bruh).

I have that problem a lot.  I have to use a different browser to make it go away.

Where did Green Day even get this reputation of being about the military or "anti-military" or whatever? My partner absolutely fucking hates Green Day partly because he thinks they hate soldiers/America and it's like no????? their songs very rarely allude to the military at all??? 21 Guns (his favorite punching bag hehe) isn't even about war in my opinion, it's about love and relationships and internal struggle. I mean, I don't really care because he's allowed to like what he likes and hate what he hates but it just puzzles me that he even thinks that at all! I think the over-arching thing Green Day doesn't like is the people in power using their power selfishly and manipulating the public to go along with it. That's probably the least anti-American sentiment I can think of tbh.

I think it comes from ignorance, mostly. It's easy to look at an album entitled "American Idiot" or a song title called "21 Guns" and assume it's anti-American or anti-military or whatever without listening to it more than the once in a while you hear it on the radio. It's easier to hate things you're unfamiliar with, so instead of giving it a chance they just shut it out completely. I've said multiple times that, to me, Warning seems more political in certain spots than AI does, but no one really characterizes that as a political album.

For example, I distinctly remember when American Idiot came out that a guy in my class at school said his dad said "those anti-American British fuckers need to go back where they came from" in reference to Green Day. Like, OK, they need to return to California? He just assumed they weren't American because of the album's title and Billie's singing voice.

Am I alone in hoping the whole album doesn't revolve around WAR and GUNS and SOLDIERS? :( Lyric-wise I kind of miss old Green Day.

I definitely agree with this. The whole political thing is just too easy right now, you know?

But, based on the details from Rolling Stone, it seems like the album will be less political and more....I dont know. Just regular people trying to make sense of life. I guess.

I like that too.

None of their albums are about guns and soldiers anyway? You have the odd song on AI/21CB, but I don't actually think of those albums as political. Their songs often reflect on things that are on Billie Joe's mind, and one of those things is obviously the gun violence in America. I don't think all the songs will be about that though!

You don't see AI as a political album?

Nope. It's about Jesus of Suburbia's journey between leaving home and coming back again. Sure there's a few songs you could deem political but that's not really what I think about when I think about the album.

Not really two songs out of 13 that are political songs doesn't make it a political album

AI only has 2 political songs. American Idiot and Holiday. I think 21CB is more political than AI tbh

So all three singles before November? Nah, that's not how this game works. They've typically tried to ride singles for three months or so before moving on to the next one.

I suspect a second single mid to late October, and then another one February or March of next year.

You're right, I underestimated the time between the second and third singles. Third one will probably be out months after the album.

That guy that got the tracklist right a few days earlier said that there would be an Olivia hidden track right? I don't know what to expect from that...

But that track list had already been floating around before, and he got plenty of other stuff wrong.  Not that I'm complaining if they were to put hidden track on the album.

Also, I don't know if this has already been pointed out, but I think there's a 0% chance of single number 2 before album release - otherwise it would come as another digital download with the vinyl/lyric book prior to the 7th October.  Bang Bang is the only advance download, so it's most likely the only release before the album.  I think this confirms it, although single number 2 was unlikely to come before the album release anyway.

I think I've seen some bands doing that before - they just add the new single's digital download for those who will pre-order after its release.

That tracklist was a fake made from the real one that leaked a few days prior. They just added some stupid bonus tracks and lies about how it was going to be distributed and whatnot.

My biggest hope for Revolution Radio is to have emblematic songs. When you think of records like Kerplunk, Dookie, American Idiot or even 21st Century Breakdown you automaticly think of songs like 2000 Lights Years Away, Basket Case, Boulevard or Know Your Enemy. Despite you love or not these songs, they marked an era. And maybe the trilogy didn't have those songs strong enough to mark that era (maybe 99 Revolutions, after all). So, I hope this new era will bring song that we will remember for decades because they are good, catchy, clever and play live.
