Revolution Radio

It's true that the cover art can be apply on many albums. After all, a burning radio is pretty common.

In my opinion, it lacks a little something to make it unique.

Oh and about Revolution Radio, I was a little disappointed that the record only has 12 songs. I mean, we waited four years, I was hoping somehting like 15 or 18 songs.

hmmm before the trilogy I would've also wanted more songs but now I'll take quality over quantity any day

Quality trumps quantity. I'm happy they chose quality, given the forgettable nature of many of the 37 trilogy songs.

Yeah of course, but you can have both. Have quantity doesn't necessary means that you low the quality.

I mean, I'm not with them in the studio, but I like to think they have two-three more songs good enough to be on the record.

It might sounds pretty picky but a song can move you so deeply that, maybe, I want more song just to be sure to fall in love with one.

Well AI has 13 tracks, and was released 4 years after Warning, I never heard someone complaining about the number of songs in it :D I think we should concentrate on quality :)

And also with that came a bunch of bonus tracks. So you never know we might have a lot for this record too. Trilogy definetely taught me how important quality is.

True. AI the Holiday Edition had Too Much Too Soon (a Cigarettes & Valentines remnant), Governator and Shoplifter, both non-album tracks. 21CB's bonus songs were all cover songs (A Quick One While He's Away - The Who, Another State of Mind - Social Distortion, That's All Right - Elvis and Like A Rolling Stone - Bob Dylan). Two original bonus tracks (Lights Out and Hearts Collide) were released before the launch of 21CB as part of the Know Your Enemy EP. The Trilogy had no bonus tracks and Revolution Radio doesn't seem to have any visible bonus tracks. Maybe they haven't revealed the existence of a deluxe version just yet.

Tbf if there was a deluxe then it'd been included as the pre order with the lyric book (the label is probably counting that as a deluxe edition)

Green day is on the third place on Billboards poll. Nice to see that we are ahead of Katty perry. Never would I have thought that britney spears would still be legit

Ok. As I said in the original post, I am sorry to pick on you as its not directed at you which is obviously easier said than done when I quote you.

Your retort is well taken but regardless, I have no idea where or who threw out the idea that Green Day has any tendencies creatively through album art, lyrics or music to anything medal and not sure what "faux-edgy metal band" means. It literally means fake edgy metal band and I'm just lost in that whole conversation so I'll bail out of it.

Im a promoter and have been since 90% of the people on this forum were even born and you are correct that there are other good rock bands making music. If I was to dive into that more, put shortly, what I mean is in the hard rock/pop acts there aren't many at all that are creating good music still. Of corse The Who, Rolling Stones and even Paul McCartney are still touring not to mention the likes of Eric Clapton. But who is still making good new stuff out of those?

If we are talking about Blink 182 or some group like that we will just agree to disagree. I would say the only performing band currently still touring and making music that are almost as fun to watch are The Kilkers. For whatever reason, I'm not including bands like Muse in the discussion either but it could be argued but even if, they weren't a around in the early 90s.

Nope, Green Day are in a league of their own. When these other bands that are putting out good music, if they were to disappear, someone would fill the void. Much like when Prince left us, everyone was immediately "oh shit, Prince added a lot to the world musically. A void has been left."

Green Day are alone at the top of legends still making music, IMHO and when they are gone, it will be a hard hit to rock music.

When I said "faux-edgy metal band", I was taking a shot at most modern nu metal and metalcore bands--the ones that are often liked by teenage girls and who try to use what is perceived as "edgy" and "dark" imagery to make themselves seem like they have more dimension. Anyway, I'm saying that I don't think that Green Day's new album cover makes them seem like one of those bands, because (humorous tone begins here) what "faux-edgy" metal band puts a dated radio instead of a Gothic-looking bleeding heart or whatever on their album cover?

As for the rockstar comment, I'm just guessing that we have different definitions of "rockstar". It's been established on this forum already that I'm a massive metalhead, so I consider metal musicians "rockstars" as well. I think that Overkill (who have had a string of incredibly good records these last few years) and Testament are two older bands who are still churning out great music, and yes, I would consider them "rockstars". If we want to talk about the more "classic rock"-type heavy metal bands, I think that Judas Priest's 2014 album Redeemer of Souls was an excellent effort, and that Iron Maiden's and Uriah Heep's latest records were very good as well. I could go on: Anthrax, Megadeth, Cheap Trick, Diamond Head, Exodus, Kreator, The Offspring--all bands at least as old as Green Day whose most recent releases have been good. I'm not insinuating that "Bang Bang" isn't excellent, because I actually love it. I'm just trying to say that I don't agree that Green Day is alone out there carrying the flag for rock.

That's because she has one of the MOST dedicated fanbases I've ever seen. They're literally keeping her alive tbh.

Voted for GD!

I know it's only around 11,500 and 17% of the vote but it goes to show that we aren't the minority and Green Day are still relevant.

Well.. a person can have more than one favorite band/artist. You only get to vote on one.

Quality not quantity 😃

Re AI, I always took it as an deliberate image from the line in the song She's a Rebel (and she's holding on my heart like a hand grenade). I actually think it's their best album cover, and I don't mind the simplistic nature of the new album cover.  I'm sure it will fit in with the theme nicely, and become just as iconic as AI (well almost).

Sure I either saw Billie say or read somewhere that once they picked the artwork, he went back and put that lyric in the song, not song first.
