RevRad is the proof that GD is at the top of their work. How can I say that? Songs stick in my mind more than any other album.

So, I think there are three important years in the story of this band:

1994: Explosion of Punk, became famous (Dookie);

2004: Re-Explosion of Punk, more famous (American Idiot);

2016: Personal satisfaction, affirmed their popularity (RevRad).

This year, GD have made experience us the deep meaning of their lives.

Just my opinion:).

Are there gonna be any more lyric videos? It's been over 2 weeks since the last one, and since the release of the album, they were released fairly quickly. Youngblood, Ordinary World and Say Goodbye were released close together but we haven't had one since. Do ye think that we'll get lyric videos for the rest of the songs?

I don't think there'll be more, I think those songs got lyric videos cause those are the official singles, so the next official video should be for Youngblood.

I don't think those 6 songs that have lyric videos are necessarily the singles and if they are, I don't think the official videos will necessarily be released in the same order, because Revolution Radio was the 2nd lyric video released and that hasn't gotten a music video yet.

I was thinking the reason why we haven't had a new lyric video in a couple of weeks is maybe cause they were filming for the Still Breathing video and were busy or something. I'd love to see more lyric videos. Most of my favourite songs haven't gotten a lyric video yet. I'd love to see lyric videos for Bouncing Off the Walls, Forever Now, Too Dumb to Die and Troubled Times

You're right, omg I totally forgot about RevRad! lol.

To be honest, I don't want more lyric videos, but that's just me :)

Ok, so I tried something the other day in the car and listening to music. I played Somewhere Now and then Forever Now after and...

I don't get it, guys. So many of you are praising FN so highly over SN and for me, Somewhere Now is an infinitely better song. Structurally, especially. Forever Now just...wants to be one of the compilation songs and it just doesn't flow for me. I various things about the parts individually, but they don't mesh or blend well into each other. The whole middle section could be lost to me. It sounds like literal guitar mindlessness.

Somewhere Now on the other hand just continues to feel like an "opener." You get those track ones sometimes that...no matter how you're listening to it (on shuffle, amongst other artists) it just always feels like the "start" of something. I love love love it when any band chooses an excellent opening track. Somewhere Now is quickly becoming one to me.

I think the reason why people like FN over SN is that it reminds them of another JoS or Homecoming.

I'm still so conflicted on where this album ranks in their catalog. I don't think it's their best work since American Idiot. I think 21st Century Breakdown and even parts of Uno and Tre are better than RevRad, and I'm not entirely sure why I feel that way. I like every song on the record except for Somewhere Now (which SO wants to be 21st Century Breakdown).

There's something missing from this record and I haven't been able to put my finger on it. It might be that I was hoping for this record to really capture my angst about America at the moment and it doesn't quite get there. Now, that's no fault off the band because they wrote it two years ago when things were still somewhat OK in this country (minus the cop killings and mass shootings which are terrible).

I don't know. I can't see myself putting this album over any of their other albums except for 39 Smooth, Dos and maybe Insomniac.

I guess I was expecting a little bit more and maybe my expectations were too high after Bang Bang.

In short: good record, but not their best.

I honestly think Nimrod is overrated. While it hasn't been as successful as Dookie or AI, it seems to be a favourite among fans but I don't really understand. It just seems like a regular GD album to me, nothing that special. None of my favourite GD songs would be found on Nimrod tbh. I still like it though, just think it's overrated.

RevRad is great. It's one of GD's bests, maybe No. 3-5 on my list. And while people complain about the trilogy being too long, it seems like RR is too short to me. I want to hear other songs that were written for that era

I think it's the diversity of Nimrod that makes it a favourite. It's definitely my favourite pre-AI album for sure.

21CB is still my fave but RevRad is up there. I listened to AI, 21CB, Trilogy and RevRad yesterday and I think I liked the Trilogy even less than I did before, sandwiched between a trilogy of greatness

Well maybe at the time Nimrod was their most diverse record but I think since then they have even more diverse and experimental records

Green Day – Revolution Radio (2016) Album Review

http://themusicplaylist.co.uk/2016/10/16/green-day-revolution-radio-2016-album-review/

50 Best Albums of 2016

14. Green Day, 'Revolution Radio'

Having completed the slightly improbable journey from Bay Area punkers to rock elder statesmen, Green Day decided to take on the state of the world on their 12th LP, which depicted the American psychosis with a slew of thundering tracks – and a few lighter ones, too, like delicate album closer "Ordinary World" and the steely yet triumphant "Still Breathing." Anchored by Mike Dirnt's bouncing-ball basslines and Tre Cool's frantic drumming, leader Billie Joe Armstrong tackles social ills and personal demons in taut songs that recall the band's early-21st-century high points, while adding just enough timeworn wisdom to reflect 2016's frayed state of the union. M.J.

I would probably enjoy Somewhere now if the intro didn't sound exactly like "more than a feeling" because I absolutely can't stand that song...

Of course that's personal taste, no fault of the band lol.

I'd say this is probably my 5th favourite GD album behind 21CB, AI, Dookie and Warning. Also the trilogy is probably better together but RevRad is better than Uno, Dos and Tré as seperate albums

My problem is that even though there are some fantastic songs, even some of their best, with 12 songs on an album, pretty much every song has to be great. 21CB has 18 good tracks, probably 14-15 of those I would say are great or fantastic, whereas RevRad has 11 good songs and probably 8 great songs

Albums that are too long have to have little to no filler and GD's longest album 21CB is filler-free to me (Others might disagree, that's fine but I like all the songs on that album, and most of the B-sides/Bonus tracks). Albums that are short like RevRad need every song to be great. RevRad unfortunately doesn't. Warning on the other hand which is also a 12 song album has all great songs

I'd say if GD gave us 18 songs instead of 12, there would probably be a few other great songs to hear. I mean, they almost left TT off the album which is probably the best song off this album for me. So just think about what else they left off.

Many people seemed to think GD gave too much music to us on their previous efforts Uno/Dos/Tré and 21CB. I never had a problem with that because imagine the alternative. If they gave us 12-15 songs from each of those eras, we might have missed out on so many good songs. What GD choose to put on an album might not be one of your favourites

Just noticed that the album can be divided into two halves:

- The reflective songs

- The powerful songs

It follows a particular structure:

1) Somewhere Now - reflective

2) Bang Bang - powerful

3) Revolution Radio - powerful

4) Say Goodbye - reflective

5) Outlaws - reflective

6) Bouncing Off the Wall - powerful

7) Still Breathing - reflective

8) Youngblood - powerful

9) Too Dumb to Die - powerful

10) Troubled Times - reflective

11) Forever Now - powerful

12) Ordinary World - reflective

The album opens and closes with reflective tracks. It gives RevRad its personal and deep attitude. Hope you agree.

Yeah. TT is powerful too

Bang Bang is also reflective as BJ is reflecting on mass shootings in America and TDTD is reflective as he is reflecting on his childhood

I think most of the songs are somewhat powerful, certain songs more so than others. The only song that isn't really powerful at all to me is Ordinary World
