That Dude
We've heard everyone on GDA's opinion about what songs they like. But here's the ranking according to iTunes: BANG BANG (duh) Still Breathing (duh) RevRad (duh) Ordinary World (duh) Say Goodbye (way up top even without a lyric video, impressive!) Youngblood Bouncing off the Wall (how did this mis-titled freak of nature beat out FIVE BETTER SONGS!!!!) Troubled Times (dido) Outlaws (Obvious that the slower burns aren't getting as much attention. A lot of people hear 4 seconds of slow music and skip away in disgust. They are missing out.) Too Dumb To Die Somewhere Now Forever Now

stories and songs
Forever Now being at the bottom is criminal. It's long so I understand most people wouldn't just buy that one, but geez.

Tubbie Head
I still have heard nothing on the radio over here about the album or singles. I wasn't surprised about Bang Bang not being on the radio but Still Breathing? Why not? Is the release date for the singles different for different countries? Does it only start to air after the video is made for it? I don't understand

The way I look at it is that he had a really hard time trying to find his "soul" (maybe some purpose in life, meaning...) and then he finally found it "under the sofa pillows" - it was right there in front of him the whole time, he just couldn't see it before. "Hallelujah I found myself, somewhere now" - he's finally feeling better about himself and his place in the world. Or that his "soul" is at home, like his family -- his role as father and husband. Christian's Inferno!
http://www.irma.ie/#chartTab2 Revolution Radio debuted at No. 1 on the Irish charts. I knew we had a good taste in music! http://www.mjsbigblog.com/sales-news-week-ending-101316.htm Revolution Radio album sales - 64,334 Revolution Radio combined sales - 66,334 I don't know if this is true but I found this site where it says this. I think the sales are disappointing if it's right, but at least it's debuted at No.

I'd quite like to know what @Hermione makes of it The rest of it works, though? The reference to Somewhere Over The Rainbow ties in the cello metaphor nicely. I'm not saying it's one of Billie's better lyrics but beyond the aforementioned it's not totally nonsensical. OMG THE CELLO LINE JUST CLICKED FOR ME. Aside from the weirdness of him saying he feels like a musical instrument, the reference to the song Somewhere Over the Rainbow fits with the theme of the lyrics really nicely because it's a song about dreaming of a better life and being in a better place, even if it is ridiculously idealistic. Even the cello line kind of makes sense because he's a musician. Wow. I'm embarrassed it took that long for me to get it.
.Holly
Listened to the full album when I was driving yesterday, and I can confirm that it is indeed epic. The only song I don't really like is Too Dumb to Die. Like it's ok, but it feels like filler. It's not as catchy as youngblood or bouncing either. Still absolutely loving Forever Now, what a masterpiece. The whole album really captures the feeling of being lost and dissatisfied in a chaotic modern world, but not really knowing what to do about it. A lot of the themes are very applicable outside of America too. With the chaos and uncertainty in the UK at the moment following Brexit, I am very much feeling a strong bond to this album. Even the cello line kind of makes sense because he's a musician. Wow. I'm embarrassed it took that long for me to get it. It took me a while too, on the face of it it's nonsense I also think it makes sense in that the cello used to be a prominent instrument in pop music but ultimately faded away into obscurity, which could link in with how Billie was feeling about the Trilogy being a dismal commercial failure. 9 hours ago, Hermione said: I do think the lyrics are meant to have a kind of whimsical thing going on (eg I feel like a cello) so they probably don't all need to be analysed completely literally. But I think with "Looking for a cause well all I got was Santa Claus" he might be saying he was looking for something meaningful/real but could only find things that turned out not to be or were more superficial. Like he was searching for something but couldn't find it (yet). As a general comment not all lyrics have to mean something literal. Just because every word/phrase isn't immediately understandable or can't be explained as meaning something completely literal it doesn't mean they're garbage and have no meaning. I don't know what some Green Day fans must make of a lot of other bands lyrics, there's way more abstract lyrics out there. I knew I could count on you to make things make sense! And yeah, I totally agree with that. I'd be interested to introduce some Green Day fans to bands like Rush
Thatsername
I have a feeling that not only songs like Somewhere Now and Forever Now are connected, but others too. I just realized that when Billie sings "Standing at the edge of the world, It's giving me the chills, Looking down the edge of the world" in Forever Now I totally see him walking out on the ledge thinking "Are you scared to death to live?" in Still Breathing. I don't see why some people seem to hate the songwriting in RevRad. I love the lyrics and I'm getting all emotional with lines like this. I see a story when I listen to this record, that has hardly ever happened with a record before. This band is really trying to kill me

DecanoLP
Still not a huge fan of the album unfortunately. I really want to like it but I can't. I think Bang Bang, Revolution Radio, Say Goodbye and Too Tumb To Die are great tracks with Say Goodbye being my favorite. The rest is average, some of them better than it (Still Breathing, Youngblood), some of them worse than it. I couldn't even finish Ordinary World once, it's just too cheesy for me. Such a pity, I really hoped they would release an absolute banger after hearing the first singles
