Wonder why they're waiting 2 months to drop this if it's already finished.

Maybe it's related with marketing or something like that

And Green Day haven't really been all that relevant since 21st Century Breakdown. Let's not try to pretend that they haven't been on a noticeable decline in commercial and critical success since American Idiot. I mean they just got off releasing the worst records in their career, so holding them up as if they are this ultra high standard of quality like a lot of people here do (I'm not saying you do) is kind of hilarious.

Hell, Fallout Boy is more relevant and has had more critical and commercial success over the last 2 years or so then Green Day has had in over 10.

You're right. RevRad is coming after an all time low for Green Day. But I'd take the trilogy over FoB's last 2 records any day. I think the trilogy is bad, but it saw Green Day staying true to themselves while trying new things. FoB are just pandering to the masses these days trying to sell as much as possible.

Frankly it is insulting to GD to compare them to Blink.  GD is one of the all time great rock bands.  Blink is garbage.

Green Day is Numero Uno and Blink is only the 7th greatest band in the world.

Social media could take care of a lot the marketing though. Imagine a surprise drop of the album. There would be rumblings of it all over Twitter/Facebook/Instagram etc.

These month plus long waits are seeming less and less necessary nowadays, because people in general don't really pay that much attention to music marketing outside of the radio or music streaming services.

I mean, they tried new things on like, 5 or 6 songs, but I see what you're saying :P

I'm going to be judged after posting this (#2 is a guilty pleasure for sure) but I'll do it anyway. I tried making a list of my favorite artists fairly by taking the percentage of studio albums tracks that I like by them versus how many they have.   It gets kind of tricky when you compare a band with one album to a band with more than a dozen, and even I disagree with my own list at times.   With Green Day, I include their various side projects because otherwise they would take up 5+ spots.   Pinhead Gunpowder is listed separate but are quite lower on the list.    Here goes:

1.       Green Day/FBHTs/Network/Rodeo Queens/ – 161/161, 13/13, 14/14, 1/1 (88th biggest band in the world) (punk rock) 1986

2.        Uncle Kracker – 60/60 (rock) 1987 (7 non-albums)

3.       +44 – 12/12 (pop punk) (2004) (3 non albums)

4.       System of a Down – 70/71, 98.59% (alternative metal) (1994) (5 non album tracks)

8.       Scars on Broadway -16/18, 88.88% (alternative metal) (2003)

Wha-what the fuck is this? Is this actually yours? I don't follow at all.

Those who couldn't see the Bang Bang download link in My Downloads when they pre-ordered...it's not there. It's literally on the confirmation page after you order - or view the order from the Account dashboard. You can download it up to 10 times I guess.

I just emailed the green day store asking why i did not receive the instant download as advertised. We'll see what they come back with.

I actually created an account after I ordered (even though I remember having an account since before the trilogy) and I don't see any orders or downloads. I emailed them as well so I hope to hear back soon.

It seems that everyone in the US has been able to download immediately, whereas it looks like us Europeans have to wait til tomorrow.
