Yeah well everyone has their own music taste, I really love Ordinary World, but some people are not liking it for some reason.

I really like that song too and I normally dont care for acoustic stuff, figured it's probably mostly due to the fact that this album hit me so hard emotionally, but its still a nice little song.

What's the AI filler?

For me, Extraordinary Girl and Whatsername have always been the two "meh" songs.  I never really got Whatsername 'til Michael Mayer and Tom Kitt reinterpreted it for AIOB, and now it just tears me up when the bridge kicks in.

Ok y'all can just go ahead and kill me now.

One of the best Green day albums for sure. I cant grade Green day albums because theyre all my favorite. But this album has a special place in my heart. Id give it a solid 9. Green day still can reach a 10

Is there anywhere that I can go to see the songwriting credits of the album.   It's so strange they aren't anywhere on packaging.

I NEED to see "Lyrics by Billie Joe Armstrong, Music by Green Day" or I don't trust it.

No one is going to believe me when I say this, but the men in the pictures are NOT GREEN DAY.  They are wearing Billie, Mike and Tre MASKS!!!!   I don't have proof just yet, but I believe that three members of The Network recorded this album under the guise of Green Day and that the REAL band is still recuperating and/or has been kidnapped by The Network.

I really do need to see some song writing credits though.   It's pissing me off worse than the Missing S in Bouncing Off the Wal.

So I just finished listening to it...yeah, it's largely decent but not at all special. Bang Bang is the only one I'd say is outright great, though Tré is on fire throughout.

Please give it 4 or 5 listens, seriously, EVERYONE felt the same way as you did and now look at them.
It really is a grower.

Forever Now is a masterpiece.

Went to Target to get Sum 41's 13 Voices, and saw Revolution Radio there, too. Had to hold it and love it before leaving it behind. :( I really don't need two copies, no matter how badly I want to listen to it. :P I got a digital download from Amazon this morning, but I'm resisting just so I can carry out my new CD ritual, which is going recluse in the corner of my room for days, reading the booklet, listening to the album on repeat haha. So stinkin proud of them, though.

I love that last video. When Dirnt is talking about how fortunate they feel to have each other. Uh oh I'm having emotions.

I just want to say I am super proud of Green Day. After Uno Dos and Tre, I was super nervous about what this album was going to be like. I was so scared that was the direction they were going to go from now on. And then Billie and his rehab, and I was just scared for them. But then they came out with Bang Bang and it was just phenomenal. The whole album is just absolutely outstanding and I love every single song. Soo yeah, I just wanted to say how proud I am of Green Day going from Uno Dos and Tre to Revolution Radio because I really was scared that they lost their mojo. Thank you Green Day for always keeping me on my toes and never disappointing me.

After first listen favourites: Bouncing Off The Wall (so fun!), Revolution Radio, Say Goodbye and Troubled Times (and Bang Bang but I had heard it before so it doesn't count right now). Forever Now is adorbs.

This album is very different from the others I think (but I love it, of course).

Well, after 24 hours there's only one negative review on Metacritic, and it's a 0 by Steven Seagull :D

Other than some of our members on here and a few haters on iTunes, it seems as if the general consensus is that this is one of their better albums.  I believe it's going to do well.

One reviewer jumped the gun and said there wouldn't ever be a musical based off this album.  I personally hope that each and every Green Day album is made into a musical AND film one day, so that reviewer is nuts.

There's a story in RevRad somewhere!  It's the continued adventures of St. Jimmy and his newfound love, Youngblood!

Just bought the album and listened to it on the way back home. Honestly, I have to say, I found it massively underwhelming. Now, Green Day being my favorite band makes this statement difficult to type, but it is what it is. I really enjoyed the first track, Bang Bang, Rev Rad, and Still Breathing. The other songs, however, had me falling asleep. I really believe each successive studio album after AI has been progressively getting worse. Maybe, the album will take time for me to enjoy - Dos and Tre never became enjoyable for me since their release. I really want to like this album, but it seems like I'll be forcing myself to.

Give it a few spins.   The first listen is kind of weird, but once you get to know the songs it's awesome!

I will, man. Green Day's the only band I really like, so I want to like this album. I hated uno upon first listen but then it grew on me, same with 21st.

Just got home. About to pop it in for the first time. Refrained from listening to any leaks aside from Bang Bang and Revolution Radio. They didn't have anymore paper masks at Rasputin Records. :( They gave me the free poster though so it's all good. :) Alright here goes! :D

So I am now passing 10 listens and I think I am becoming addicted. When it finishes I just start it again. Sat down to do some homework but felt the urge to listen to it that I had to put it on. What at first was an underwhelming listen turns into a very addictive, enjoyable listen from start to finish.

So, I wanted to wait the Vinyl to write my "official" review. But something magic happened to me. I figured out that the distance between the Copenhagen's downtown and my apartment, by walking, it's 43 minutes and 28 seconds, 11 Revolution Radio's tracks, plus an Ordinary World time to smoke a cigarette.

Just to make the situation clear, yes, right now I'm stoned, but after two weeks of listening I think I can give an accurate personal track-by-track review of this record. Let's start.

1) Somewhere now
I completely agree with Billie Joe, "I'm running late to somewhere now that I don't want to be" it's probably the best introductory lyric they've ever had. And the best has to come. The first track of the record is an amazing introduction, the best possible tribute to The Who, a 70's dreamy track that just need you to identify yourself with it. Somewhere now is a powerful song, with an amazing instrumental atmosphere and a strong lyrical context.
I love the mix of different styles this record is collecting, but if I had to imagine a 60 years old Green Day, producing a brand new record, I can see them doing something like Somewhere Now and Outlaws. In a parallel universe where they have to choose a style, a someone said something like 50 pages ago, this what I would like them to do. Just one of the best Rock tracks of the last 10 years, just how to do a 70's song in 2016.
"Hallelujah I found my soulUnder the sofa pillow, congratulations I found myself somewhere now".

2) Bang Bang
After almost one month I'm sure: this is the best lead single of their career. Not for the quality of the song itself (still an amazing punk rock song), but because with it they gave the right image to the public. "Fuck you we are Green Day, this is our music, this is our style, we can do whatever we want". Releasing a song like this one, as the main promotion act of your new album, in 2016, needs a brave heart. Green Day have it. And they can afford it. Even after thousands of listenings a beautiful song.
"I want to be like the soldiers on the screen in my private holy war, oh baby baby this is viva vendetta, for this is love or it's world war zero"

3) Revolution Radio
The "classical" song of the record, the less "experimental", still a good track, with a beautiful background, a beautiful melody, simple but direct lyrics that give energy to the record and contribute to build the "narrative" of the record. The title track does what it is supposed to do, it leads you inside the album, giving you the right perspective. Am anthem, a classic Green Day track that cannot miss inside a record like RevRad that just bring together the best of this band.
"We are revolution radio, operation no control"

4) Somewhere now
Rage. I love when this band is angry, for a good reason. This track is easily becoming one of my overall Green Dat favourites, together with Holiday and East Jesus Nowhere (yes, I'm part of there GD fans).  Clap, clap, clap, I want to scream along with this song for hours. The chorus, the fucking chorus. The song of damage control. Just love.
"Say hello to the cops on patrol, say hello to the ones in control"

5) Outlaws
After a few listening I started to wonder which song should be next single. Outlaws is the answer. This track is just... Green Day. A "power punk ballad" describing their path. Musically, lyrically, from every point of view this track is a masterpiece. I'll forever dream a music video with frames from "Turn It Around: The Story of East Bay Punk". Every time I listen to this song I dream. Magic. It was a long time. Thank you guys.
"We destroyed suburbia, when we were outlaws, we outlaws are forever"

6) Bouncing off the wall
After the tears the smiles. Oh this song. I wanna make a scene with you Billie. I wanna do the twist or whatever you want. I'm a a bloody freak like you guys, and you proceed tracks like this one I can just sing and dance with you. As I said before one of the few track of my life I tried to sing along with at the first listen. Another love.
"I got Satan riding next to me"

7) Still Breathing
And then tears again. This one can easily be one of the best songs of the records, deep, new, beautiful. One of the reasons this record is just amazing. Social and personal at the same time. A story, full of characters and emotions. Billie at his best. Musically is not what you would expect from this band, but this is the best part of Green Day, baby.
"I'm like a son that was raised without a father, I'm like a mother barely keeping it together. Oh, I'm still alive"

8) Young Blood
I wanna dance with this track forever and ever. Stupid, funny, caricatural, whatever. It makes me smile every time. It may be considered the worst track of the record, but Christian's inferno or the silliest Trilogy track didn't makes me smile like this one.
"Fuck you I'm from Oakland" [and I don't care who says so :P]

9) Too dumb to die
Mix fun and politics. This track is Green Day. Mix punk and pop. This is Green Day. Make you feel like you're listening just another happy track and then
"My daddy always was on strike, goin' off with the teamsters. He said that everything will be all right, not every Sunday can be Easter".
Nothing else to add.
"I feel like a cello, lost somewhere over the rainbow" [Yes, fuck you :)]

10) Trouble times
Oh gosh. One of the Green Day songs that made me think the most. These four lines:
"We run for cover
Like a skyscraper's falling down
And then I wonder
Like a troubled mind"
Paris, Niece, Bruxelles, every day. This is my world right now. This is one of those songs which could become part of daily soundtrack. Just some of their best music and lyrics ever.
"The world stops turning, there it dies burning, so don't think twice".

11) Forever now
And we're already here, and we don't want to stop, and we're freaking out. So we bring just the best of what we can do and we put it together. And we create another multi-rtrack song that kick ass. It doesn't matte anyway. It's just beautiful. The integration of Somewhere now it's a masterpiece. The best way to end the "core" of the record, my Homecoming.
"I wanna start a revolution, I wanna hear it on my radio, and put it off another day".

12) After 43 minutes and 28 seconds of walking I needed a cigarette, I needed peace, and this beautiful country ballad gave me everything I wanted.
"What we have is more than enough".

To conclude, someone said that is impossible to rank Green Day records from the best to the worst, and I agree with him. I can't give a mark to this record, but am I going to listen to it with joy and passion during the next years? Yes, fucking yes. I can promise it to you all.
