I just picked up the CD so I can play it in my car all the time without plugging in my phone. I bet I was very entertaining to the people parked around me, because I was practically jumping up and down in my seat as I was opening the packaging.  (Side note: Best Buy didn't have ANY Green Day. Had to go to Target. Boo, Best Buy.)

I have my favorite dudes back. REALLY back. I missed them like crazy, and I'm just ecstatic right now. SUCH a good album to listen to while driving with the windows down. I'm in love.

did you ask anyone at BB? the one near me is damn slow on putting out new releases to the point you have to ask and they have to go searching in the back one time i was there for a release got there at 6pm and they still hadn't put out the new releases  from what i understand music will be X'ed out in stores there by next year and will only be available on line

They are really jamming on this album. Tre's drumming is sooo good, Mike took lessons, it shows. Billie's vocals are amazing! I love the guitar! It's wonderful!

Thanks everyone.  I emailed customer service and they sent me a different, working link within a few hours. :)

The previous singles downloaded just fine.  Figures.  I vaguely recall this shit happening with the trilogy too

This album to me represents the first Green Day album that melds the Green Day of old with the Green Day of the AI era.

...

Somewhere Now is to me I believe about his struggle with sobriety in places that are difficult (I.e. The road). "How did life on the wild side ever get so dull" and "they all die in 3s" is an otherwise damper lyric on a great song. Sounds like a song The Who could make.

@crock6000 I'm so glad you are so happy with the album! I've actually been thinking, "Hmm, wonder what crock thinks of this."  I think you're dead on about this being the album that bridges Green Day's newer and older sounds. In MANY ways I feel like they've finally achieved what they've been attempting since American Idiot—it's this fantastic mix of humorous/sharp lyrics, personal reflection, political commentary, and a lot of fun. It sounds "appropriate" for what they should be making after 30 years together, if that makes any sense. They've grown up and have become wiser, but in a way that's very Green Day and not forced. I think it's truly a wonderful reflection of who they are as a band—both their roots and what they've become over the years.

Somewhere Now and Forever Now both seem deeply personal. Having a scene in the middle of the road and then taking his time could also reference slowly getting back on his feet after, well, making a scene. Then he's trying to figure out who he is supposed to be after going through all that—but he's stuck at home, trying to find himself under the sofa pillows. He described it in one of their early interviews as figuring out how to rise above the gloom in your life/the world, and I can definitely see that. Then in Forever Now, it feels a lot more uplifting—he found that the life he lives can still be full, and that he needs to find a better way to die than succumbing to an addiction. That's my read on it, anyway. Obviously it's vague enough where people could take a lot away from those two songs.

What I am seeing is that many Non Green Day fans are liking Still breathing and not much of Title Track and Bang Bang.

There's a snippet of a melody at around 2:00 in "Forever Now" (my favorite off RevRad) that I know was used in another GD song before, but I cannot for the life of me figure out which one. I really need to re-listen to their catalogue; it's been too long.

That's understandable, if they're also pop fans. "Still Breathing" has more pop elements than the other two mentioned.

EDIT: Finally thought of it. It's from "Stay The Night".

There are so many parts in basically all the songs which sound so similar to their older songs and I go like in which song I heard this before.

Wow. Just wow. I listened to the leak once and I didn't like a few of the songs. However, listening to it today, I realized I haven't been this pleased with a Green Day album since American Idiot. It's such a good feeling! Although the theme of the album may be a bit dark in some ways, I can't help but feel overwhelmingly proud and uplifted throughout the whole thing. It's just mind-blowing that these guys have been around for so long and they still continue to amaze me with their music! Honestly, I didn't think I could like Still Breathing but I have to admit, it has grown on me immensely! The melody definitely fits the inspirational tone of the lyrics. I find it interesting that Outlaws doesn't seem to be a huge favorite amongst fans. For me, it is by far one of the best tracks on the album! It's just so moving, and the lyrics make me think back to their past and how far this band has come. Too Dumb to Die is another one I really like. I especially love when Billie kind of growls "Don't cross" around 2 minutes in. Lastly, Forever Now is simply perfect. I get the chills so many times listening to that song. It showcases the creative genius they have. Overall, i'm so fucking happy with this album and proud of this band. Thanks to Green Day for bringing us some happiness at a time when the world needs it the most.

I also love that moment in particular. That whole line is so great, and love the way he sings it.

I thought it was a slice of the bridge from The Static Age.

So i remember thinking i dislike Youngblood. it may be because i'm a fucking Polyanna today but it sounds better on Spotify. If anything,it's fun , so fun enough to make you laugh out loud.

and about still breathing , can't believe it grew on me little. lol i am a Polyanna today. and it's great. i enjoy this album and i love enjoying things.

Managed to somehow avoid temptation to listen to it when it leaked so had my first listen today. Really, really like it! Definitely light years away from what the trilogy was. Listening to Somewhere Now I was a little meh until the chorus properly kicked in, the riff reminded me a lot of More than a feeling by Boston

Going to echo what others have said, it definitely mixes old and new green day but in a really good way.

My fav ~new~ tracks are Bouncing off the Walls, Outlaws, Too Dumb to Die, Forever Now and Youngblood. Youngblood wasn't a stand out on first listen but it's so catchy! If they play it live it'd be cool if they incorporated the place they're playing to the 'Fuck you I'm from Oakland!".

Going against the grain but I really can't get into Ordinary World. Idk personally I think Forever Now would have been the perfect closer but I guess what's a GD album without a ballad now.

I'm really happy personally with what they've put out, going to be on repeat until I get sick of it!

I still can't fully process the fact that there's a new Green Day album, that it's called "Revolution Radio" and that I have heard it at least 10 times. When do I wake up?

After listening it all every day 24/7 for 2 weeks wanna share an opinion again.

1. Somewhere Now - 9.5/10 - still for me one of the best songs on the album, perfectly executed, perfect reference to classic rock vibes still staying Green Day, very honest and meaningful lyrics (I kind of imagined how he found his soul under the sofa pillows), interesting structure etc. Also the opener which sets the mood of an album, joyful hopeful at the same time nostalgic, a bit lost and dealing with difficult past. Also kudos to Tre for impersonatng Keith Moon in the choruses.

2. Bang Bang - 9.5/10 - Also an amazing song. Fast and furious, one of the best singles Green Day have ever made, nothing more to say.

3. Revolution Radio - 7/10 - For me one of the most boring songs. Yes, it's kind of catchy, but the lyrics are too cliche and straightforward, seems like a lesser version of their better political stuff. Still intro is brilliant and without its amazing neighboorhoud I would give it a higher grade.

4. Say Goodbye - 9/10 - I find that its repetitiveness is an advantage (for example not the case of Youngblood). That western cowboy gallop is so badass you wanna hear it non-stop every fucking minute. There are similarities to EJN or Holiday, but this is a pretty independent song with its own aura. The Muse-esque finale is great!

5. Outlaws - 8.5/10 - Give it a bit less only because it is too extended for me, but it is so clear how important this one is for Mike and Billie that you can find their souls in there (not under the sofa pillows this time). Very beautiful music, some shades of bow guitar and great mixing of instruments in the 2nd verse - and bridge is as raw and emotional as it gets.

6. Bouncing Of The Walls - 7/10 - Too much of KYE. It may be a fun song with a well-made riff, but I tend to skip it, nothing that stands out. I love how outro with all this Trilogy feel to it turns into the negotiation of Trilogy in the Still Breathing. It's like a purgatory within the album for Billie.

7. Still Breathing - 8/10 - I didn't like when I heard it for the first  time - sounded too poppish and mainstream. Of course my opinion changed after I plunged myself into lyrics and got closer with the song, it's beautiful and honest (which is one of the main advantages of an album), but the first impression still somehow found a way to hide in my brain - I really wanted this one to have more of the BOBD gloom, lyrics here are deeper than the music.

8. Youngblood - 7.5/10 - very catchy but very repetitive. Personally I enjoyed the bridge (I wanna hold you like a gun) - the melody is golden, full of 60s, the apotheosis of Billie Joe's great songwriting. Also I liked the noisy psychodelic part during solos - another thing borrowed from the Trilogy.

9. Too Dumb To Die - 9/10 - this one grew on me from being the filler to one of the best songs of the album. A lot of Warning vibes here, which is great because Warning is unique and was forgotten by them in the previous albums. Also as it was already mentioned that "Too Dumb to..." line in the second chorus which he forgets to finish in a dumb way and goes into the craziest and best solo of RevRad. Lyrics are fun and well-suited to the indolence of this song.

10. Troubled Times - ? - Hello, hello, George Harrison. I always had troubles on saying something coherent about this song. It is still some kind of a mystery for me, so I won't even grade it, but it should be more of a positive comment when I get under its skin.

11. Forever Now - 9.5/10 - Forever in love with this song. I thought that Somewhere Now verse was perfect, but here they executed it even better, they made it at both more explosive and more melodic, also more versatile - actually the whole idea of putting SN into FN is brilliant. The rest of the song is also on top, the last chorus joyfully cries about how great the album is, how amazingly Green Day handled their "Troubled Times"!

12. Ordinary World - 9/10 Billie Joe channeled his inner Bob Dylan and made it very good. A beautiful song to peacefully end this revolutionary record.

Amazing effort from Green Day overall! Honest, simple but at the same time complex and well executed. Should sound even better when I buy a vinyl.

I've been listening to the album all day, and I can honestly say that I love every song on it. When I first listened to the leak there were a few songs I wasn't that hyped about (Outlaws, Youngblood and Forever now) but they have all grown on me and I now love them. Outlaws and Forever now are now to of my favourites. I'm really really happy about this album.

I agree - I think this is the first Green Day album that really is "All killer, no filler".  After 12 (or 14 attempts depending on how you count the Trilogy) they finally got the fucking order right.
