You know, I wanted a harder and heavier album, but, listening to RevRad right now, I'm realizing that this is so much better than what I had wanted and hoped for in a new GD record.

Your review is spot on. This album somehow succeeded in capturing all the emotions and thoughts I've had and pondered about during this cataclysm of a year, from the tear-jerking bridge of Still Breathing over the 'Live Out Loud!' mentality of Bouncing off the Wall to the epic finale of Forever Now. The deceptive simplicity of some lyrics actually conceal the depth of their content, unlike the Trilogy which was just shallow and something I couldn't connect to. Instead of remaking Dookie or attempting to revive the rock opera concept, they wrote and recorded an album that bears the scars of the present and is a catharsis to their and our recent struggles. It's definitely a grower, but once you're into the lyrics, it's one fucking brilliant record with a couple of classics and greatest hits (Bang Bang, Say Goodbye, Forever Now).

Exactly this and @The President Gasman's brilliant review.  I hope they're super proud of this album, because I know I am! In one of Billie's interviews the other day, he was talking about how life is awkward and unpredictable, and that's sort of the beauty of it. I feel that so much in this album.

Yay for new beginnings.

Lmao the lyric booklet actually claims that the lyric is "and everybody's bouncing off the wall". A dirty lie

I'm like "If that's how you wrote it, maybe you should've SUNG IT THAT WAY."

There seems to be quite a few mistakes in the lyric booklet, like in Bouncing Off The Wall it says "concrete dream, I wanna hear you scream" where I'm sure Billie sings "Im gonna make a scene"

I love how some of the songs are intertwined. "Forever now Forever now You'll roam" is a line from Outlaws, and in Forever Now, it says "Somewhere now.... Somewhere now...". And also in Forever Now, there's the line "Standing at the edge of the world", it just goes so well with "I'd walk to the end of the earth and afar" from Ordinary World.

I know, this is not a concept album, but I still have the feeling that one song flows into the other one, becoming one big beautiful whole. It's like they are telling us the story about them and the great journey they've walked so far.

I remember when I first got into Green Day at 12, my mum taking me into town to buy Bullet in a Bible because I was running up the Internet bill listening to them so much online haha. I took a stupid selfie like the one above with the CD so I could ~show it off on MSN. It's crazy to think that I'm an adult now still listening to them, in my last year of university buying the new album with money I earned myself. I've grown so much with this band.

OKAY so now that the album is officially out can we talk about the weird shift between Bouncing Off the Wall and Still Breathing?? It just seems like BOTW is supposed to lead into the next songs like Are We the Waiting/St. Jimmy or Brain Stew/Jaded. It's just a very odd transition to me, I wanted to see what everyone else thought.

It's definitely a weird transition, and it makes me think they arranged this album with vinyl in mind. Bouncing Off the Wall is the last song on side a, then you have to flip to side b for Still Breathing. In that context, it isn't so awkward sounding.

Still, you'd think all the feedback and noise at the end of Bouncing Off the Wall would fade out or cut to some sort of conclusion, it just ends abruptly. I love both songs honestly, I just find it strange

Thanks! It's way too big for me but still one of my favourite hoodies. The back is pretty cool

So I just finished listening to it...yeah, it's largely decent but not at all special. Bang Bang is the only one I'd say is outright great, though Tré is on fire throughout.

Somwhere Now, Bang Bang, Outlaws, Too Dumb Too Die all these songs have intros you can barely hear on normal volume. But if you increase the volume you will hurt your ears when the guitars kick in.

I do actually get what your saying now cause I've been listening to the new album on my computer through headphones and the sound has been fine on that. But my computer has stopped working so I actually listened to the album on my iPad for the first time and the volume was very low for certain parts and high for other parts. So yeah, you do actually have a point which is hard for me to admit because you're so annoying. But what's weird is I was using the same headphones on my iPad as I was on my computer. So idk what the problem is. It must just sound better on computers than mobiles/tablets. It actually just felt like somebody was messing with the volume buttons on my iPad. It doesn't really bother me but I can see how some people can be bothered with it

But I still think the actual quality of the songs themselves are fantastic and the best songs we've gotten since 2009 or earlier, especially in terms of lyrics
