I don't know, I mean I'm not here to defend every single element of the record, but I really don't feel this strong difference. I don't know if this video help to "legitimise" my position, probably it's just a waste of time, but this is Bang Bang played through my MacBook speakers, not a fancy sound system, at a medium-low volume, and I think you can hear there is not a huge difference of volume that makes you lower it or turn it up. I can perfectly hear the intro and listen to the rest of the song without having a "ears explosion". It's just a classic "lo-fi" intro for me. The same happens if I play it through my phone ear-pods, my "fancier" headphones, or my "proper" sound system.
Also, since we're using "graphs", the first one is Bang Bang, the second East Jesus Nowhere, the third Letterbomb. If you feel this strong difference with Bang Bang you should have the same problem with these two songs, and personally I never had it.

I can't prove it in a technical sense, but if I have Bang Bang on loud enough to hear the words being said at the beginning the rest is much too loud, at a level that would be inconsiderate to neighbours. Same with the beginning of Somewhere Now if I want to hear it properly, and even on headphones the difference seems quite extreme. But that isn't the case with those other songs. From those diagrams it looks like that's impossible but that's how it is . Maybe the fact I play it on poor quality equipment is a factor or there's something else about the production other than the factors you've talked about that can make it seem that way? I don't know. Maybe on the CD it'll be better.

My lyric book has been shipped wooo!

Didn't think it'd be shipped until after Friday considering how late I was "pre-ordering" it! Let's hope it turns up when I'm not in work!

Decided to open up my copy of Revolution Radio today and I took some pictures. Not the best quality, I didn't have that great of lighting but hey! It's something! I only took pictures of the first two pages in the lyric booklet.

Putting it in spoilers for obvious reasons.

Damn, the artwork is fresh as fuck.

From the looks of things, it sounds like that the album is getting good reviews so far. It's getting a 75/100 based on 6 reviews. Don't know how long it will last though.

I have made a video with the lyrics of Somewhere Now, first song of the new album. I´m planning to do lyric videos about all the album so I will gratefully accept any suggestion :)

That Outlaws chorus is melodically incredible. It almost sounds like a Disney song or something.

The thing about reviews is that they tend to be overwhelmingly positive before an album/movie/book etc comes out and then if it flops they turn nasty. In fact if you follow a band carefully and for long enough you'll notice that every time a band is about to release a new album they say it's their best work and often trash talk their older work in an attempt to either distance themselves from it or maybe an old bandmate or producer or label etc but a year later when that album has flopped they do it all again :P:lol:

Sweet, now everything is spoiled, lol.  I know I'll have a copy in my hands Friday morning but could you clarify some lyrics for us?

Outlaws:

Outlaws OF or ARE forever?

Nothing will change my spirits raised in WHAT?

Foever Now:

Between "freaking out" and "figure it out" what the heck is he saying?

After "prayers" what the heck is he saying?

I believe I understand the rest just fine.

Don't know if anyone has posted about this yet, but " broadcasting from my room and playing with my toys" from Bang Bang is missing from the album book lyrics :ermm: not a big deal by any means, just pretty odd.

Yeah, that's what exactly happened to Blink. Before California was released, it was getting good reviews. But after it came out, California started to get bad reviews.

soooo Ron Blake was credited in the lyrics book for playing trumpet on Bouncing Off The Wall. just listened to the song again and it's definitely not there

Out of all the titles Revolution Radio sounds the best. like it would be weird if they kept the name of the album Bang Bang lol

Bouncing Off the Wall is a sore subject, let's not. :P

I think there is a trumpet in there. It starts at 1:08 but it's super buried in the mix, playing a rhythmic staccato thing on the right. Very hard to hear over the guitars though.

Yeah, honestly if I wasn't listening out to see if it was there I'd never have noticed.

I have to say, I absolutely love Outlaws. I finally caved and listened to the album the other day and that's the song I can't get out of my head. For me it's very nostalgic and sentimental. I was a sophomore in college when Dookie was released, so I'm very close in age to GD. They've been with me ever since and I feel like we kind of grew up and matured together. Outlaws reminds me of those days when I was young and life was less complicated. It's just a beautiful song. That being said, now I feel really old...

Forever Now and Say Goodbye are completely amazing, too!

I know it's been harped on a lot but I cannot stop thinking about it. Too Dumb To Die starts out so strongly then he says he feels like a cello and I want to gouge my eyes out. Why can't we have nice things. Why. :( The chorus on that song blows hard while everything else is strong and I'M FRUSTRATED.

The chorus, to me, is the best part.
