Honestly I don't understand the Loudness War at all. If I listen to a remastered version of a song, it sounds exactly the same to me as the regular album version. I'm not saying it's not a thing, I'm just saying it doesn't really feel like it makes much difference to the quality of the music to me

Because CD's are limited to 16bit, 44khz, so you can't really put out a CD remaster, without making it louder and compressing the hell out of it. This is the reason why you're absolutely correct. Remasters are almost always going to sound the same. Now if it's a digital or Vinyl remaster, it'd be a different story cause you wouldn't be limited to 16bit and 44khz. Example; just check out the original cd release of Kerplunk vs the 2007 remaster. It's literally the same thing except a bit louder and for that reason, compressed to clip.

Decided to open up my copy of Revolution Radio today and I took some pictures. Not the best quality, I didn't have that great of lighting but hey! It's something! I only took pictures of the first two pages in the lyric booklet.

Putting it in spoilers for obvious reasons.

I don't know, but I agree... The yellow one looks like mustard vomit. Why would they choose that color???

I think it's more suited to a female to be honest, I can't imagine a guy wearing it. I know the black and white hoodies are out there because of the merch stores at the shows. f they're not available on the store by then, might have to grab one in London, not paying stupid money tho.

Thank you for spoilering! :)

Today I ordered the lyric book & CD (already had vinyl on pre-order).  I'm not patient enough anymore, I just want revrad now.  Really keen to find out what the artwork is like, one of my favourite things about owning physical music.

Of course, man. I know not everyone wants to see it before they have a physical copy on their hands so I wouldn't want to fuck that up for anyone.

Somwhere Now, Bang Bang, Outlaws, Too Dumb Too Die all these songs have intros you can barely hear on normal volume. But if you increase the volume you will hurt your ears when the guitars kick in.

YES!! It's the most frustrating thing with this record

I hate the intro's they could of done without them

Need to Normalize the whole thing

Throw on a copy of Oasis "whats the story" or Metallica's "Death Magnetic" to get an idea. If you have a death wish then try Iggy Pop's remaster of "Raw Power" *shudders

I 'accidentally' got my REvolution Radio CD yesterday. There is indeed a booklet with lyrics and artwork. I think it's cool, but that is my opinion.  My only disappointment is that it isn't in a jewel case.

I hope I get my preorder deluxe version at least on the day of, but I'm not counting on it.   That's why I asked for the day off so I could run up to Best Buy and grab a copy.

It seems like a lot of people are confusing cheap sound with a raw feel. I'm not saying you can't like the sound of the album, but if they were going for a raw feel they could have done it better in many ways.

I also agree with this. I like the sound of the album overall and I don't find it that big a deal, but I do think the difference in volume between the "quiet parts" and "loud parts" is too great. Not so bad on headphones but if I have it playing on a CD player I have to actually turn it up and down if I don't want to either barely hear some parts or be deafened by others. My only complaint about the album really.

Even though I thought listening early would spoil it I'm still looking forward to going to buy the CD. Looking through the booklet (not going to look at any pictures in advance) and reading the lyrics will be fun. Putting it with my other Green Day CDs will be too.

It's weird, but for Bang Bang the sound difference between the intro and the rest of the song is a smooth transition, but it's very different through my car speaker.

I don't know, I mean I'm not here to defend every single element of the record, but I really don't feel this strong difference. I don't know if this video help to "legitimise" my position, probably it's just a waste of time, but this is Bang Bang played through my MacBook speakers, not a fancy sound system, at a medium-low volume, and I think you can hear there is not a huge difference of volume that makes you lower it or turn it up. I can perfectly hear the intro and listen to the rest of the song without having a "ears explosion". It's just a classic "lo-fi" intro for me. The same happens if I play it through my phone ear-pods, my "fancier" headphones, or my "proper" sound system.
Also, since we're using "graphs", the first one is Bang Bang, the second East Jesus Nowhere, the third Letterbomb. If you feel this strong difference with Bang Bang you should have the same problem with these two songs, and personally I never had it.
