xXRustyJamesXx
this record is a grower. I hope people will give it the chance to grow! It think this record has at least 21st CB quality which is pretty good!

Personally I adore bands like The Who, so I'm in love with this 70's vibe hearable in Outlaws and other RR's tracks, but luckily the world is various, and luckily this record too, and he's enjoying the rest of it so... cheers. Same! that's why i love this album so much, i adore The Who, Led Zep, and all th great 60's rock bands, hell when i first heard Outlaws i thought holy shit this has a Carpenters vibe
unextraordinarygirl
I usually like metaphores but it's a little much on some of the new songs. I don't get the whole "chello over the rainbow" thing. As someone else said in misheard lyrics it sounds like he says 'jello over the Rainbow', which makes me laugh hysterically. I'm obsessed. I'm not used to Green Day being badasses on this level. They're usually just my cute tiny humans.

Private Ale.
I can't stop listening to Bouncing Off The Wall . After my first listen,Ordinary World was my favorite by far but BOTW beat it and now it's rising to my top 20(at least) .That song just makes me lose it. then my homies suddenly walk in and i get worried eyes looking at me. stories and songs
It's tough to compare this album to AI and 21CB in some ways, because those were just such excellently crafted concepts that will always stand out. But this album, without all the hoopla of a concept surrounding it, is just such a gigantic accomplishment. It's rather brilliant, if I'm honest—the way it mixes their classic sound and their more current sound with something quite modern and fresh. I obviously can't rank it before it has even been released, but...damn. It gets a bigger place in my heart every time I listen to it. It's a special one. Stefano Bras
I love Youngblood, without it maybe the album would be too serious and I have to listen to the album in order, it doesn't feel right otherwise.
CrimsonArk
I still can't believe the hook to Troubled Times is just straight up "We live in troubled times" repeated again and again. Really Billie? Really?
Stefano Bras
Actually I think he nailed the lyrics on this one, I think the Trilogy has some good lyrics (unlike everyone's opinion) and it's understandable that most songs have just simple lyrics since that's like the whole point of the Trilogy but in Revolution Radio he got back on track and I love it. CrimsonArk
I'd say my least favorite is definitely Outlaws as well. Green Day just never really sound natural to me when they attempt to do piano ballads. Billie always ends up coming off as overly dramatic and these type of songs tend to contain his cheesiest lyrics. (also, that echo vocal effect used at the very beginning and end of the track sounds awful, I do dig the intro and solo though). Comparing that song to BOTW, which is more within their element, is night and day.

It would be fine as an instrumental It's just a fun song. People were complaining forever about Green Day having lyrics that were too serious and that they had lost their funny goofy side. The band can't win.

I love their fun and goofy side, and their serious side. I am hardly one that complains about their lyrics. The band actually wins with me all the time. Just because I don't like a song you like does not mean that I complain about them all the time. Because you think it is fun does not mean everyone else does. And more broadly, I think he got back on track with subject matters that fit the band much better. I know we're not in a trilogy thread, but the whole sex, drugs, and rock 'n' roll thing just doesn't do it for me when it comes to Green Day. That's not them. They've always appealed to me because they didn't take the rockstar aspect of their lives too seriously—they have a ton of fun with it. The Trilogy took the partying rockstar idea too seriously and ran with it, and...yeah. On the topic of RevRad though, its topics are just perfect. The perfect blend of personal, humorous, dark, fun, sentimental and political. It's all their past work rolled into one, somehow.

The partying rockstar idea was probably true by the time those songs were written, unfortunately maybe that's one reason why Billie got into rehab.. But I completely agree, songs like Outlaws fit them perfectly and I just love that they can still be relatable and their talent is ever lasting. Comparing that song to BOTW, which is more within their element, is night and day. Even if I don't understand why he keeps making at least a couple of songs in every new record with that minor fourth (to the point that everything in Outlaws is too much predictable), I quite like the song because it is a good attempt to explore new territories. I can't stand BOTW instead. Verse seems to belong to (the worst moment of) Uno! and I hate that crappy melody he uses in "radioooo". The chorus is Horsehoes and Handgrenades, they didn't even change the key. Lyrically, I find the whole record a bit repetitive and recycling ideas from the past. Overall I like RR (I'd give it a 6.5/10), I think it has a good sound and there definitely are standouts (Bang Bang, the Who-ish opener and Forever Now with that impressive chorus that reminds me of Sweet Jane for it has almost same chords progression and rhythm); it's probably their best since AI.
