stories and songs
7 hours ago, DookieLukie said: Crazy how things change. Billie sounded like an old man going through a midlife crisis on the Trilogy, singing about sex and parties. But in BOTW he's literally speaking from the POV of his younger self and it comes off as super genuine and clever. THIS. There's a level of honesty and maturity in RevRad's writing that is quite special. And it's not "mature" in the 21CB way (which I had zero problems with, but I know Billie thought it was a bit too dark and depressing). It's mature in that it's reflecting on the past wistfully without making the present seem like a bad thing. The lines "How did life on the wild side ever get so dull/full" are two of the best on the album, I think. I think the subjects he wrote about in the trilogy were things he needed to get out of his system, but this album feels like him. Writing about his life and the people he loves and the subjects that matter to him. He sounds like himself again.

stories and songs
You know, I keep not even factoring Bang Bang, RevRad, and Still Breathing into my opinion of the album because I'm not at the point where I can include them with the others naturally yet. But considering those three along with the rest of the album? Holy shit. This album is incredible, 10/10, renewed Green Day's contract to be my favorite band for a few more years. .Holly
I can't explain how happy I am with this album! Listened to it at work for the first time with a huge grin on my face. They absolutely fucking nailed it. Love the variety and how they've evolved and explored their sound. BB, RR and SB aren't even close to my favourites. Absolutely loving Somewhere now, Say Goodbye and Forever now. This is probably going to be my favourite album except for AI. This is close to their best work ever. So happy

They are healthier than ever, they love music, they love their fans and I think that they have a lot to offer in coming years.

Yeah but I meant for the type of music they make, I can't imagine them doing this sort of stuff when they're in their 60's, of course, they could completely change up their style but I can't imagine them doing anything else that will appeal to me, only time will tell I guess. Harry Potter.
There's a sound associated with all of their albums. With this one, when someone says "I dig the sound of Revolution Radio", I don't know what they mean. There's about 12 different sounds on this record. Few bands are as good at adapting their music with age as Green Day is. A song like Somewhere Now isn't something that could've been achieved in their 20s. I think they'll continue inventing and evolving as they always have. They don't strike me as a band on their last leg whatsoever. In fact, this is like the third fresh start of their career. 7 minutes ago, Harry Potter. said: There's a sound associated with all of their albums. Can't put it quite into words yet, but I think RevRad definitely has a specific sound. I know the songs are unique from one another, but there's definitely something connecting them. In my opinion. If you say "I like American Idiot's sound" that could mean Holiday or Wake Me Up When September Ends, which are two very different songs. Saying you like 21CB's sound could mean the title track or East Jesus Nowhere, which sound nothing alike. Saying you like the Trilogy's sound could mean Brutal Love or Fuck Time. Church On Sunday and Macy's Day Parade are totally different. Etc. They almost always have diverse sounds on one album.
