Which brings me to another point: I am SO ecxited to hear the new songs live. I remember when I saw them in 2013 I just hoped they'd play as little songs as possible from the new albums but for this album I'd be perfectly fine with it if theyd play it from front to back ahha

You can gauge popular opinion just by reading his posts

I've listened to the album once and now I'm at work without the songs. I miss them  the one that is in my head after only one listen is Say Goodbye.

Steven Seagull actually gave some of the songs high marks, 9 and 10 out of 10. I was suprised.  I woke up at 2 AM with the songs in my head. Right now I can't sleep and I have Say Goodbye on replay in my brain. I can't wait to get the actual, physical cd and blast it in my car!! Happy dance!!

EVERYONE  who really wanted old GD Dookie sound and songs will be unhappy. But as I musician, I do not see any reasons for them to do that. They have new era with new songs, they are original in many ways. Look at RHCP new album, is it the same as Blood sugar sex magic? Absolutely not but still love it!

I like pretty much everything. Only one im iffy on is Outlaws but that'll probably grow on me.

 

 

 

Then again...I am the guy who loves every single GD song except Nightlife and Wild One so not saying much when i like something, probably

I am not looking at it from a technical perspective.  Billie is not a perfect singer, never has been, but the fact that I can't understand a single word ruins it totally.  He has always been very good at getting the emotion out of a song.  But, I can't get emotion from a song if I can't understand what I'm supposed to be emotional about.  Even on 1039 and Kerplunk you can understand what he is saying.  Insomniac sounds like he sang with marbles in his mouth.  Why do you feel the need to convince me otherwise???  For me that album has his worst vocal performance ever.  You will not make me think otherwise.

Some of the songs here also have similar issues to what I had with 21st CB. I dig the verses of Say Goodbye and Outlaws, because they're so distinctive from everything else on the record, but then they kind of kill it for me by going the big chorus route where it sounds like another standard Green Day song.

Also, where the fuck is Jason Freese? Didn't Billie post a picture of him recording some brass for the album? Lol

Overall on first listen I think it's okay, better than any of the trilogy albums for sure.

One of my main problems with the album is that it just doesn't flow well, so I reordered it into a playlist that I think sounds a bit better.

I think the flow was on purpose.  They have said from teh beginning that the album was about the chaos in the world so it I thought they purpoely made the flow chaotic.  Plus, Ordianry World is the perfect closer.  An album about the chaos in the world ends with a song about how the little things in life are important.

This is accurate

So many different styles on this record that you just can't enjoy all songs. It's like GD made a record that's a mix of all their albums ever. So if you're not a fan of certain albums you won't enjoy the whole album and you'll only get a few songs that will sound good to you.
