I guess I was one of the few who generally liked it right away except for 1 or 2 songs. After listening a few more times I now like all the songs.

I love them all too. This is quickly becoming one of my favorite albums from them. I have it ranked behind Insomniac, American Idiot, and Dookie, just barely ahead of Nimrod. That could change within the next month.

I kind of wish that Somewhere Now and Forever Now were one giant song, but I understand why they didn't do that.  It may have been a bit too much.  They both took me a time or two to get use to.    But now that I'm used to them, I'm playing them back to back and wow.  I can't think of a better way to spend 11 minutes and 2 seconds of my life.

Forever Now would be killer live.   It should take 99 Revolutions place near the beginning of concerts.     Open with it, close with Ordinary World.

Am I the only one who reads "Say goodbye from your car" to the tune of 8th Avenue Serenade in my head when reading the title "Say Goodbye"?

I knew I was forgetting one!  There are SIX titles that are from other songs!

Is the bow guitar that freaking awesome guitar solo in the middle of Outlaws? Because I <3 that part with every fiber of my being.

How is everybody feeling about that bonus track at the end?   It's called Jesus of Suburbia Returns but it sounds like Nightlife II!

I just realized in that FB Live Otis tour, Billie said, "Well the future ain't what it used to be, I can tell ya that." and I was like, "What on earth is he talking about?"

Now I know he was just being a sneaky asshole.

Is that a lyric from one of the new ones?

A lot of the songs have weird endings that don't run into the next song.    Like "Bouncing".

I said Nightlife Part II, but I really meant Platypus (I Hate You) II.    Or Christie Road.   Something like that.

@thatdude03 It is a line from one of the songs but I'm bordering on delirious at this point and couldn't tell you which one.

I understand.  I can't wait to blast this on the way to work tomorrow!

It's kind of like Dry Ice if it were recorded for Insomniac with the guitars of Warning, kind of like a combination of Rusty James and Last Ride In.

There is no bonus track.

Ok so after my 3rd listen I think I can elaborate more on this. Somewhere now was a decent intro track. I thought it was a little weird that they'd start what I thought was going to be a heavier album with an acoustic guitar, but oh well. It definitely has that Who classic rock vibe, and I liked Mike's subtle but good bass lines, they fit the song. I don't see how Tre thinks he did his best drumming ever on this song, not even close. It's a decent opener but I think it was kinda weird that they followed it with bang bang. putting bang bang and revrad next to each other was good though. I didn't care for say goodbye, this song and outlaws were my 2 least favorite songs. Bouncing Off The Walls is what I was expecting to be filler, and in a way it was. It was one of the last tracks to be written, and Green Day can write high energy pop punk songs in their sleep, and that's kinda what this is, good music but cheesy lame trilogy type lyrics in my opinion. Only difference is the heavy guitars. this is what the trilogy should have sounded like. I guess. I still don't like the name, Concrete Dreams would have been better. Youngblood is fun. Yeah it's a little cheesy, but there's some lyrics that I do like and it's a cute song. I don't like the intro for Too Dumb To Die, but it's probably one of my favorite songs on here, and I was expecting it to be. I'm kinda torn on troubled times. I like the lyrics, but there's just something that I thought the song was missing. Forever now is a fun song, I like that it's kinda all over the place but it doesn't have that rock opera feel to it. A lot of the lyrics are iffy (Punk rocker on labor day, what?) but I like the line "if this is what you call the good life, I want a better way to die", and like a lot of people I like that they tie the first song back into it. I feel like this would have made a good closer. I like Ordinary World a lot, it's already gotten stuck in my head before I heard the album version, but it almost seems tacked on at the end after Forever Now, I think it would have made a great hidden track.

I think Billie's vocal performance is great. I didn't notice the lack of swearing because the songs didn't call for any. At first I thought 12 songs in 44 minutes wouldn't be my thing, but the album seemed to kinda fly by and it left me wanting more. Tre's drumming is very good, but while Mike had some good lines I was expecting more out of him. I'm also a little bummed that there weren't any songs where Billie ripped any crazy ass solos, but again I guess the songs just didn't call for any. I love Billie's pissed off angsty songs, and I know he's not the same person he was in the Insomniac/nimrod era, but I was maybe hoping for one or two pissed off songs, we got a couple in the trilogy.

also, I thought there were gunna be horns somewhere on this album, what happened with that?

I was quite excited for this as well. Maybe they'll change up the songs when they perform live.

How has nobody mentioned that Say Goodbye is essentially Personal Jesus? On first listen (and second, hell even third!) I thought they were sampling it and pulling some Fall Out Boy shit. Not sure how I feel about the album yet. Going to listen to it a few more times before I say anything good or bad 👍

I just wanted a good album. And good it is.

Not many people are going to like it at first listen . It feels that this album will be in the same situation as Warning: It's a grower. But I think is fucking great. Better than the trilogy imo.

Favorites: Somewhere Now. Revolution Radio. Outlaws. Too Dumb To Die. Forever Now. Ordinary World.

Ok reactions now that I finally got to listen. Honestly, I'm totally caught off guard, but in a positive way. First off, Green Day sound energetic, passionate, and determined. The whole album rocks really hard, you can feel the effort, and there's a powerful sense of maturity. I think when you listen, you can't go in expecting a typical Green Day record. This is so different.

I don't think there's a song I didn't like. Least favorite was Troubled Times, but it was still a good track. What was great while listening was the little reactions I had. There's so much subtle stuff in this record, so many changes and unexpected directions. With the Trilogy, after verse and chorus you knew what you were going to get for the majority of the songs. All of these songs had me surprised at various points. They feel so genuine, like "We love this album, and we're going to make you love it too." Every song is seeping with other influences, and there's so much more variety in these 12 songs than there was in the 36 we got a few years ago. The songs seem very fleshed out and complete. The musicianship and instrumentation (plus great vocals) was far above average in terms of Green Day albums.

Two complaints: the lyrics work in every song, but a lot of the songs have the same general message, which makes them less likely to stick out. The second complaint is the maybbbeee the vocals effects and background chants were overdone. For the first few songs I thought, "Oh sick! Oh wow! Cool!" but after 7 or so uses of vocal effects and around 5 with background "heys!" it got a bit grating.

Overall, love this album, and Still Breathing makes a lot more sense to me now that I've listened to the whole album.

Favorites? I literally don't dislike any of the tracks buuutt...still "Bang Bang," "Bouncing Off the Walls," "Youngblood," "Too Dumb to Die," "Revolution Radio"

Haven't really gotten into Forever Now yet. I think it's very good, but haven't caught the hook yet. And honestly, how fucking cute is "Youngblood"? Somehow the cheesiness comes off super cute and genuine, and it makes me want to fall in love.
