Have not found the leak yet, and I'm not sure that I want to. I feel like I'd be cheating somehow.

It seems that alot of people that really love Insomniac don't care for Rev Rad.  I'm actually not surprised.  One of the main reasons Insomniac is not one of my favorites is because of its lack of diversity.  It is definitely a punk album, but nothing else.  And that is cool if that is what you like.  I like an album that is not just the same thing.  One thing you can say about Rev RAd  is that it is not the same type of song over and over again.

If anyone cares, I'm listening to Troubled Times right now.

I think it is great that it seems like every song on this album is someones favorite.  To me that is the sign of a great album.

I don't hate the Trilogy, has a lot nice songs. But RevRad is different, a solid album with heart Still Breathing and Outlaws just masterpiece. And probably they will come to south america tour again, can't wait.

I'm just wondering. What did you dislike on the trilogy? I liked pretty much everything. I've only listened to RevRad once, but I think the trilogy is better at this point. Probably because I've only listed to the album once, but...

I just don't get why the trilogy gets so much hate

There was a lot about the trilogy that just didn't seem right. The production wasn't great, it was a nice attempt to change their sound, but they ended up with weak guitars, weak drums and a vocal sound which just annoyed most people. Then there were the actual songs, there are some proper tunes on those albums, but you have to dig through way too many stinkers to find them. And then a lot of people hated stuff like the sub par lyrics and Lady Cobra's rapping :P It was such an ambitious project though, not even the worst haters can deny that.

Well, this little piece of news just turned my Sunday evening into an existential crisis.

Dilemma:

Plans: Green Day and I have already planned the perfect honeymoon. On 10/7 they are going to offer me their music. As a show of mutual love, I am going to listen to the music unfold as I travel to New York to see them play Webster the next day.

Reality: how the fuck did this leak so early?!

Conundrum: I could wait another 13 days and still have the master plan unfold perfectly. However, there's always the chance of an asteroid hitting Earth between now and then and having never heard RR. Wow, this escalated quickly.

Conclusion: Catastrophic/ extinction causing asteroids rarely hit our planet. I'll roll the dice. And Still Breathing is enough to hold me over. I can handle this.

Outcome: Not listening until it comes out- my game plan is just too good, and not judging on those who listen- gotta live while life goes on/ Carpe Diem.

Enjoy everyone- I'm probably going to be avoiding the forum (or at least this topic) for the next week plus, but it's going to be an awesome couple of weeks!

Insomniac is my #3 album, but I actually like an album with more diversity, which is why I enjoy Nimrod a ton, as well as Warning. I think RevRad may crack my top 5.

I like both, though I like Insomniac mostly because of the lyrics on it.

I think it's so fucked up when someone's album gets leaked. They put their heart and soul into that record just for some asshole to come along and throw it into the world with the band just sitting there watching, knowing that it's already hit too many ears. And i know green day aren't in it for the money but it can mess up their profits too.

Warning is one of my favs.  I like Insomniac, I just always thought it was one of their weaker efforts because of the lack of diversity and the god awful vocals.  AI is my fav, followed by 21CB and Warning, but not necessarily in that order.  I think REv Rad may be right up there with them

sorry, but i don't wanna listen to any leaks... it's incorrect for GD's work, according to me. And wait for another week it's not so difficult :P

While I agree with you, I can't resist. I still bought it regardless.

YEs, the lyrics are amazing.  As I've said, it is the lack of diversity and vocals I don't like

What excites me the most is the future. With the songs they've written for RevRad I definitely see great records to come, especially because of the Who-ish vibe on some of the songs. RevRad could have been a rock opera if they wanted... They still can write big songs, something I doubted after the trilogy. It's just a matter of their will. So yeah, anytime they feel to comeback with a really big record, I think they still can.

Wow! I definitely think I need a second listen (while reading lyrics) to really appreciate some of these songs, but after a first listen, I definitely approve! I wasn't expecting it to be this diverse at all. I think my first impression is definitely a surprised feeling, which has kind of been the entire theme of this album and its singles so far. Fitting. :P

That being said, I am SO pumped for tomorrow's show now! I didn't even think it was possible to be more excited than I already was! How the hell am I supposed to sleep?! :runaround:

well, my work productivity is definitely going to climb out of the gutter this week, now that I don't have to spend hours on the daily, putting together a potential client analysis (ie. refreshing my twitter feed and scouring the most russian depths of the internet for info about new singles and possible leaks)

Have fun! I am still salty about Chicago. I am almost considering skipping class and buying some scalped tickets.

Totally jumping into this midstream, so for that I apologize. Warning is awesome, but Insomniac was killer. Billie wasn't nearly the singer he is today for sure, which is why your comment about his vocals are understandable. But I think Insomniac was really where he started to feel the power behind his vocals and just let it fly with confidence. He didn't "sing" like he does today, but he let those pipes rip on that album. And they tuned up the vocals a bit in the final mix too. I love the album for a lot of reasons, and part of it is the fact that he started to develop his vocal style- there was confidence and authority behind his vocals we hadn't heard before. And they were perfect for the album. Definitely not god awful.

I have to disagree 1000%, if there were 1000%.  To me Insomniac is the album the just didn't give a fucking shit about his vocals.  They were god awful.  He didn't enunciate a freakin' word.  He didn't really start to take his vocals really seriously until AI.  Then he did broadway and took vocal lessons and we have 21CB, his best vocals by far.  I fully understand someone saying Insomniac is their favorite album, even if it isn't mine.  I get that.  But to say his vocals were good, just no.  Sorry babe, I will fight you to the death on that.

Now that we've got THAT over with  -   What does everyone think Album 13 will sound like?   What kind of set list do you think the boys will put together for the Green Day World Tour 2020?    Haha, Just kidding.

One front to back listen and now I'm skipping around trying to figure out which one I love the most.   This album is disjointed and jarring but terrific.  It's that way because its got everything that we've been wanting from them all crammed together in a concise 12 song blitz.

As far as sounds from previous albums it's got

Idiot, Breakdown, Uno and Dos.....

and maybe the spirit of Nimrod in the fact that the songs are kind of disjointed and don't fit together.   Maybe they are not disjointed, we're just so used to Green Day doing concept albums that this 'normal' album business has got all of us at GDA all fudged up.

You know I love you, but damn, Rev Rad isn't even released yet.  Can we bask in this glory for awhile???

It's 4AM, I have to get up at 7 to go to work.

Does anyone else think Somewhere Now is a really good song to follow Ordinary World?

i think you're viewing it too much from a technical perspective.  to several people "good" vocals aren't good, even if that sounds weird. my favourite singers are those that don't sing perfect.  joe strummer would be an example. it just sounds way cooler to me than a musical voice. i HATE musical voices.
