I was expecting it to be way more political. And what would you guys say is the best song off this record? It's about as political as I expected to be honest. They said in interviews the record was more about chaos in the world, which is broad enough to cover political and personal issues. I don't think I'd like it if they made every song political

ImaKilljoyfromDetroit
I know this is waaaaaaaaaaaay tooo early to even think about. But a few month's after this album is out, what's next for Green day? is this going to be their last record?

I think it's fair enough to say that this is nothing like the Green Day we've known before. To me it's very exciting and a step in the right direction for sure! Obviously, changes don't appeal to everyone and that's fair

Yeah, I've been saying this for a while, but idk even if all the best songs were compiled into one record the length of Nimrod, I think I'd still only put it above 21st Century Breakdown at least. I don't quite know where RevRad would rank among the rest yet, but before this it was: 12. ¡Dos! 11. Shenanigans (yeah I count it) 10. ¡Uno! 9. ¡Tré! 8. 1,039 Smoothed Out Slappy Hours 7. 21st Century Breakdown 6. Warning 5. Kerplunk! 4. Nimrod 3. Insomniac 2. American Idiot 1. Dookie Dookie and AI will always be the divine top two for me, I'm not quite sure if I'd rank it ahead of Insomniac or Nimrod yet, but I like it slightly more than Warning and maybe Kerplunk. That's just me though I suppose.

Greywind
RevRad is awesome album, so much better than trilogy. But I can't listen the other songs because stiil stoned with Outlaws, incredible song. Need be a single.

AlissaGoesRAWR
Bouncing Off the Walls saved the album for me on this first listen. I was starting to get bored till that came on. If anything this record gives me faith that Green Day has places to go, the trilogy was more of an attempt to return to pre-AI days while this record is moving Green Day forward into new styles and sounds. I know music is subjective and all, but...no...just no. I'm just wondering. What did you dislike on the trilogy? I liked pretty much everything. That Dude
Green Day have (un)officially destroyed the phrase "pop punk". Okay, maybe not. But this album does a great job at expanding their sounds and I feel like its very much a Rock N Roll record. The only tracks that sort of fit into that 'pop punk' label are the title track and Too Dumb to Die. The rest of the album is an assorted bag of goodness. Cohesive? No, but I freaking love it. It's all over the place but I feel like they gave us the album we were asking for.

Well I've overplayed Bang Bang and Revolution Radio so much that it's like those songs didn't even register with me this time around among the new songs. I still think the singles are the overall best songs on the album though, although BOTW and Youngblood are just too fun. They remind me of my immediate fondness for She's a Rebel the first time I heard American Idiot.

I just don't get why the trilogy gets so much hate A broad range of things. I didn't like how it was produced. There were some points where the drums were overpowering the rest of the instrumentation. Some of the lyrics were some of the worst they've ever done (Sex, Drugs & Violence, Fuck Time, Troublemaker, just for starters). The overuse of profanity especially sunk it for me. It just felt immature and juvenile, like they were trying to hard to revamp what they were in the '90s. Plus, the general consensus...too much filler. Like I really respected the ambition of writing three albums in a span of three years after a CONCEPT ALBUM, but naturally there's gonna be some misses. I still think on its own it was a bold thing to do, and that amps my respect for them even more. But it wasn't completely successful. And it sure as hell wasn't among levels of some of the stuff on this record, to me.

kristóf
- I liked it a lot! - It's pretty sad - I like that the revolution-thing stays in a background a bit, and it's more about, well, having a midlife crisis kinda thing. And that's a good thing, I think that's what makes an album more.. honest? I mean, some bands write about being teenagers even when they're 40, and that sucks a bit for me. Here it's more like, "ok im 40 what the hell am I supposed to do, I'm freaking out", you know. It's harder to relate to it when you're 22, but it's actually quite deep and that's good. - It's not just lyrically one of their most mature stuff, but musically as well. - No filler songs! I swear there are more single-material on this album than on the last three... - Won't change the world, but it's easily between their top 4-5 albums. (I have never expected such a good album to be 100% honest. Not after the last three.) The perfect follow up for American Idiot & 21st Century Breakdown. Spoiler Maybe let's pretend that the Trilogy never happened? lol I know, i know.. Some people like it and stuff...
