Ugh the Foo Fighters don't sound anything like the who

Right. I worded that pretty badly, what I meant is that it's like a hybrid of the two. Particularly with songs like Somewhere Now.

I must have listened about 3 or 4 times tonight, this is everything I could have hoped for from a green day record after the trilogy! It's like the band suddenly reconnected with their inner purpose and nailed it, they sound re-energised! I give it an 8/10.

I honestly don't hear any Foo Fighters in Rev rad.  The who yes.  I even hear bowue, elo and Jack Johnson and the beatles.

I love how "are you stranded like I'm stranded" and "are you broken like I'm broken" in Youngblood parallels "is she trouble like I'm trouble" in She's a Rebel. The two songs are definitely similar!

I hear plenty of The Beatles, but I also always thought Billie had some Lennon-McCartney vibes to his voice. The loud guitars resemble Foo Fighters the most to me.

Troubled Times....Restless Heart Syndrome

am I only the one that sees it? I still really love Troubled Times, it think it's one of the highlights of the album

Would anyone say this album is as political heavy as we thought it would be? I was expecting it to be way more political. And what would you guys say is the best song off this record?

and to add, this album is more of an in your face and a "fuck you" sort of rebellious type of record, rather than political.

i know it's not a fair comparison, but i enjoyed the trilogy more. it had a lot of terrible songs, but when picking my favourites it wins by a mile. rusty james, sweet 16, stray heart, ashley, lady cobra, brutal love, sex drugs and violence all beat most tracks on RR. RR has one killer track (bang bang) that is probably their best one since american idiot, so at least i get that out of this record ;) . everything else falls short to me. i guess it just depends on your music taste. if you like alternative rock stuff like foo fighters, (terrible) pop bands like fun and enjoy the pompous sound of 70s rock as well, then you'll like this album very much.

unfortunately that's music i usually dislike, despite a few exceptions. if you like straight forward rock'n'roll and punk rock, this record will disappoint you (not saying my music taste is limited to that, but i guess you know what i mean).

Was expecting politically charged themes throughout the entire thing but it just sounds like they had a load of fun writing what they wanted to on this record. Very glad they did that way, being holed up in Otis seemed to do them a lot of good overdosing on coffee haha.

As for best song. Bouncing Off The Wall. All day, every day.

Also holy shit, people honestly think the trilogy is better than this? I know music is subjective and all, but...no...just no.

I think allot of you are making very rash statements for an album thats only been "out" for about 10 hours. I think we should all give it some time before we compare it to the other albums. How can you compare an album thats you heard for the first time today, with an album that has been out for 5+ years?

To be honest, I think that if the trilogy was one album and they allowed themselves to be creative around those songs on production, it would have probably been on par to this.....alas it's not.

This is blowing my mind. Suddenly all the inconsistent reviews are making perfect sense.

Oh hell yeah. i was expecting that except for Youngblood and ordinary world. I was hoping for a song about trump and hillary lol. But it really does sound like they took their time on the lyrics and had fun doing it too.

They never said it was political.  They said it was about the state of chaos in the world.  Troubled times

With the title track and Bang Bang it did seem to point in a political direction...do you like the song Troubled Times by any chance?

don't you think you'd find 12 songs from the trilogy you'd enjoy more  than RR?

also could it be your favourite album is  21st CB? that would kinda explain it. my favourite album is insomniac. it just depends where you're at home in the music world. of course you can have diversive tastes (and i do), but that style is just not for me. but anyway i'm glad for everyone who loves it, not kidding! :)

i'm still happy that at least bang bang has come out of this.
