Bouncing Off the Walls > Still Breathing transition is weird. I was expecting Still Breathing to connect with it, but it's actually just a completely different sound. I don't particularly care and it doesn't impact my enjoyment of either song, but it is an odd transition.

Actually I think is an interest transition, all the mess and loud guitars in BotW (damn, are we already shortening the songs?) finished abruptly by silence and that gently guitar on Still Breathing.

Unusual but I kinda like it.

I was thinking the same thing. They're both equally great songs, but that transition is so abrupt and really makes no sense.

I'm feeling too lazy to do the entire song, but other than the intro part it's pretty straight forward. So here's the (hopefully accurate) tab for the intro/verses of Somewhere Now.

Yup, actually right now is probably the only thing I can complain of :D A static noise transition or something like that would fit it.

I think what I like best about this album is that it feels kinda cozy. There's no concept around it, no gimmick, no trying to out-do themselves. Just a collection of songs they wanted to share with us. It's ambitious and inventive, but not in a way that feels too professional or cold. They sound like their older selves and their newer selves. They sound like themselves, basically.

fuck, 30 pages already. I made it to page 5 and I don't care to go through 25 more pages. I streamed it. I'm underwhelmed, this one's definitely going to take some time to grow on me.

This is like 21st Century Breakdown's little brother, but a lot more fun and upbeat in some parts, not sticking to a strict story-line or concept. Definitely shits over the trilogy, this is what I would've expected as a natural progression from AI/21stCB with some of the darker themes throughout the album.

(Still like the trilogy but comparing the guitars it's clear to see that the trilogy could have been SO much better with a wall of Les Paul and Marshall sound that was full on in your face).

I agree completely.

But I always have enjoyed to create my own story with conceptless albums like this one... It'll be fun.

I couldn't be happier with this album. It totally reminds me of the Foo Fighters. I can't wait to see them live.

I thought you were going to wait until the album got officially released.

I'm not going to listen to any leaks. It's going to be a long wait to get through these final 2 weeks. But it's going to be worth it.

Glad to see so many positive reactions on the album.

i know everyone likes to complain about all the filters and blah blah but billie's vocals are beautiful on the whole record

I agree with this. Overall, very good vocals. The only song I didn't like was Bouncing off the Wall and maybe it'll grow on me. I don't know.

I finally listened!!!

I would describe this album as if GD were trying to write songs based on influences, mostly classic rock.  Some people have said that they heard the Foo Fighters.  I didn't hear that, thank god, but I did hear alot of other influences.

Somewhere Now and Forever Now could have been co-written by Pete Townsend, they sound like they came right off of Quadrophenia.  Outlaws is definitely ELO.  Ordinary World is Jack Johnson.  There are plenty of Beatles influences

My favorite song that we hadn't heard before is Troubled Times.    My least favorite is Too Dumb To Die.  That almost sounded like it was two songs in one.  He would sing one song and then switch to another and he kept going back and forth.

Youngblood should have been an instrumental.  The music is great, fun and catchy and the lyrcis are cringeworthy.

Some criticisms, there are times when some of the songs get repetitive, really repetitive.  As others have said, there are some really strange vocal effects.  The album really doesn't flow that well, but I think that is on purpose.  The album is supposed to be about the chaos in the world so it makes sense to me that the flow would be chaotic.

Overall, for those that were hoping for the next American Idiot (like me), it isn't.  However, my other fav GD albums are 21CB, Warning and Dookie.  Based on a first listen, I would put Rev Rad in the same bunch with those.  I'm not sure where it falls yet, but I think it is there.

Judging by Billie's recent thoughts on the trilogy, it's kind of like when they went to make RevRad they were like "LOL forget about what just happened, let's try that again."

Remember back in 2013 when we said that after Billie Joe went out of rehab we were gonna get another phenomenal album?

I can't get over how good Say Goodbye is, I need to here this song live right now!!

I really liked it too, but it got so repetitive.  I think that is why I like Troubled Times better

I could happily fall asleep to Ordinary World (in a good way...). The acoustic track is just phenomenal.

This is a very experimental record, which means there will be a lot of people who love it and a lot of people who don't. Troubled Times is definitely the one that popped out to me after first listen. As a whole, the album is great. The way they approached this album reminds me of Warning. Experimentation and self-production. Can't wait for this to grow on me.

i can easily see still breathing and say goodbye being among my favorite green day songs ever, the rest of the album could suck and it would worth it for those two alone.

i just can't get into youngblood though.
