I don't know how i feel about this. Chris Lord Alge is my favourite mixer and he's always been amazing with Green Day. This guy mixed a lot of my fave records though. Jake Bugg's Shangri La has a real low fi feel to it. It would be interesting if they've gone for him on that bases.

Anyone thinks they made the album without a producer? like when they did Warning and Rob just occasionally stepped in the process.

It's really rare for low fi to be done well with such a high production budget, and so often ends up sounding fake.  So I hope they don't take that route.

One of my main wishes is for the drums to sound better, Tre's a great drummer but the drum tone always leaves a lot to be desired.

For anyone who's a bit technical. CLA mixes everything in analogue, with analogue compression, EQ etc ( so real hardware). This guy mixes everything in the box ( on a computer) using software. Interesting!

I was thinking the same thing. It will be interesting to hear what this digital production will sound like. Maybe it makes a difference when it is done by someone who actually knows what he is doing..

That's quite interesting.  As much as I like the idea of 'authentic' analogue mixing, I'm quite glad they've gone digital.  These days, plugins are very effective.  Digital can be cleaner and predict what's coming next in a way that analogue can't, giving a more polished sound.  But there are also plenty of digital sims of classic analogue hardware which can help you to go with the analogue sound.  It will also allow him to utilise any presets that he likes and they play around from there, saving him having to start from scratch.

"Andrew Scheps. Andrew Scheps has engineered and mixed for some of the biggest rock bands in the world: Metallica, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Weezer, Audioslave, Linkin Park,Green Day and U2." This what Google told me when i asked about this Andrew Scheps guy

Definitely interesting! They're definitely adapting to the times by going for Andrew over Chris.

Andrew Scheps' post on Facebook was from 10 hours ago. It probably got updated on the internet quickly after that.

if they post it anywhere on the internet, even with a paid access and region restrictions - we'll definitely hear it.

I don't think so. The tweet hints, as someone said here previously, that it might be some sort of competition. If that's the case, I guess it will be some sort of visit to Warner Music headquarters or similar, and most probably not today.

EDIT: So far they posted a form asking personal details and asking what's your favourite GD album.

EDIT 2: This is how they'll do it: 20 winners will receive an e-mail or pm on Aug 8th at 14:30, detailing how to go to Warner's headquarters in Madrid (Spain's capital) on Aug 10th. Winners will have until 14:00 on Aug 9th to confirm assistance, otherwise another winner will be chosen.
